    + 1 for sh*te drivers and speeding.

I can remember on a couple of occasions when in the middle of no-where, hadnt seen another car for miles, and there was a Police speed check at the end of a long straight road. Copper waved at us as we went passed mind, probably as we kept under 100km per hour.

Not worth speeding anyway as generally the scenery is so stunning its worth having a look at.

Its also a lot easier to cover long journeys without feeling too tired afterwards. Even though as already said most of the roads are single carriage way, the lack of other drivers and not having to concentrate at high speed like on a UK motorway makes driving easier, just watch out for the odd idiot.

Give consumer direct a call who can give you advice in terms of your civil rights (google them for number). More often than not consumer rights threads on STW are ill informed and generally confuse the matter.

I have one for sale – used once, £10 posted. Drop me an email if interested.

Takes a bit of an effort to pump up a 29er tyre, but not impossible. Impressively small and light, and seems well made.

Is it a dual air model, or a solo air?
Might just be that you have no air in the negative chamber if it’s a dual air fork.
If its a solo air model then you may find that you need to renew the seals in the air chamber.
Also worth checking is that you have the rebound adjusted correctly (dial at the bottom of the right leg)
    Hope this helps.
    Robin

Reba’s are dual air, they have never done a Solo air version…

the trader was home-based so therefore no warranty…

Not relevant…if he is in trade he has to comply with the sale of goods act, etc. You have rights for the first 6 months of purchase, the fault is assumed to be there at the time of purchase.

Contact consumer direct for advice, most ‘consumer rights’ threads on STW are ill informed and not helpful… 😉

It certainly made a difference for me, the SS ring teeth are obviously taller and holds the chain much beeter. Not had a chain drop since i fitted it, i use a On One stainless ring as it was cheap at the time.

As i said if you want a look and see how my bike is set up with 1 x 9 let me know and i can pop round as im local.

I currently run a bashguard, N Gear jump stop and an unramped ring and never had it drop. Did run with a standard Deore middle ring for a while, and droppped the chain a few times, but when i went to a unramped ring (SS) has never dropped since.

If you want a look at my set up let me know.

Nice one. I built one of those to try out the 29er thing, couple of rides later i was hooked. 29″ wheels seem to suit rigid forks so much better as well.

Would this be a good time for the mods to finally permanently ban the induviduals who have appeared under various names over the years who ruin the forum with 24/7 arguing/trolling?

I’m an inch shorter than you and ride a 21″ On One. Top tube is quite long so I run a short stem. I could ride the 19.5 frame, but I don’t like a yard of seatpost out the frame at pedealling height.

Are you planning on using the bike offroad ? I witnessed an incident a few years ago where a chap took his commuter bike around the red at GT with a learner group, full mudguards. Rock went inbetween the wheel and the guard, jammed it to a dead stop and he flew off at speed. Not a good idea, or could have been a freak accident, you decide.

Mainly back country lanes, odd bit of canal towpath. Food for thought though… 😯

32 x 11/34T around the NW Alps, ideal spread unless its really steep, and one of the things i like the most is how much smoother the gears seem to run.

I struggled for years to get a 26″ bike that fitted properly, always felt perched on top with the saddle up and little in the way of balance. About 18 months ago bought a second hand 29er frame/forks/wheels and not looked back since. The bike just seems to fit me now and is more in proportion to my height (6ft 3″). There does seem to be some negative opinion regarding 29ers from some people, but generally thats the FrEeRiDe KrEw types and those that have never ridden them.

If you are after a ride on one there’s enough people around the country on here willing to let you have a try, im based in Worcestershire at the foothills of the NW Alps, ideal 29er testing ground…. 😉

You’re lucky to ride those in trails in December without snow cover. Mtbmaff is already preparing the gates at the upper lift station.

Took a ride around the lower slopes and valley floor of the NW Alps before the heavy snows arrive, didnt expect the bridleways to be as muddy as this…
