Shame there isnt a 21″. 19″ frame is bit small for the taller 29er rider…

I had a Scandal 29er frame for about a year and it was lovely and light to ride, and as already said felt the least like an alu frame i have ever ridden as was nice and comfortable. Changed to a inbred 29er a few months back simply as i prefer steel, and i prefer how the inbred rides, i think the geometry is slightly slacker on the new 2012 frames, and seems more ‘surefooted’ on the trail, but that of course could just be me! 😉

Ive been a number of time on recent trips to Slovenia in past few years. Its a lovely city, quite small but really nice just to wonder around the old streets. The main square around the bridges when the sun is out is quite impressive. Views from the castle in the centre show the green hills that surround the city. Pretty much everyone speaks English as well.
Costs are higher now they are in the euro, but still cheaper than here. A beer is around 2 – 2.5 euros depending where you drink. Only downside is limited direct flights from the UK. Definitely worth a visit, in fact if you are making the effort to go there the public transport is very good and cheap, and its only a few hours to the Julian Alps in the west of the country.

I always thought the Superlight was more suited to lightweight XC whippets. Now purely by the nature of tall 29er riders, myself included, we tend to be heavier riders, so i wonder if the Superlight 29er is a bit flexy, or has been designed with the larger lad in mind?

    🙄

mboy, your saddle is too low, or you have the wrong frame size… 😉

How many times have you ever seen or heard anyone say that they regretted buying a Soul?

Maybe because people arent likely to admit they have made a mistake when spending £500 on a frame… 😉

32T here, but that’s for steep alpine terrain here in the NW Alps.

I think i was the only NW Alps rep to ride the HONC last weekend. Piece of p*ss compared to our usual Alpine terrain… 😯

I spent 4 weeks in NZ with a car and used hostels/cheap hotels, and worked out all good. We planned our route to a certain extent, and with the help of a Lonely Planet guide phoned ahead most mornings and secured a bed in a hostel to where we were heading. Had to use a shared dorm of a few nights, but not the end of the world considering the cost.

RD is probably THE local legend when it comes to knowing the miles and miles of alpine singletrack we have strewn across the slopes and valleys of the NW Alps.

Gulp! Well if you see someone pushing a Orange Inbred 29er halfway up the hill at the start that will be me 😕

Just moved from riding an alloy frame for about a year (after riding steel for years) back to steel. Its probably in my head but the steel frame seems to be more sure footed to the trail and holds its line better, where as the lightweight alloy frame felt a bit skittish (if that’s a word).

First time for me as well. As it starts from the castle grounds from what i gather, i can only assume it goes right and straight up the hill? As that looks like a nightmare of a climb (2 x black arrows?!) to start from cold! 😯

Can you get to the Wyre forest from Malvern within an hour? Might be pushing it a tad, but its worth a trip.

You can, but without local knowledge its hard to find the decent singletrack and link it all up to make an enjoyable ride IME.

For XC riding i use an unramped chainring, a bash guard on the outer and an N Gear jump stop. Never had a dropped chain with this set up.

So will a KMC chain work fine with a XT rear mech then?

Do the KMC chains come with a powerlink (or their eqivalent?)

Sorry for possible stupid questions, but 10 speed compatability is a bit confusing….

    why?

Always preferred how steel frames ride compared to alloy ones. Would of bought an Inbred last year but they were out of stock, so i bought the Scandal. And orange is a better colour than green…. 😛

100mm Reba’s here on a On One, not much to say but they work really well as Reba’s do, much like the 26″ versions i used before.

I do think rigid forks work really well with 29ers though.

Not ridden there (ive walked loads though) but the areas around Kranjska Gora and Bovec in Slovenia are stunning and by all accounts riding to be had there. Do a forum search as this has come up before.

Unramped/singlespeed chainrings help a lot to keep chain on with the teeth been taller. I use that set up with a bash and N Gear jump stop and have never dropped a chain.
