crappy phone pics here – http://www.flickr.com/photos/60703429@N04/

It is just a padded board which you attach the mounting bracket to, as well as the wall.

As far as I know no electrics in the loft but can easily check.

Not tried tapping but have borrowed a digital cable detector which was hit and miss, further adding to the confusion.

As above the metal could easily be capping for a capping but not sure how you’d ascertain it was metal from a 5-7 mm drill hole?

Have drilled a 10mm hole for the brackets – and fairly certain it is metal by touch and shining a torch in there, its not wood or brick.

Will the headboard brain you if it does fall off or will it just drop behind the bed?

It will land of top of the bed, hence why i am been cautious in fitting it!

I’d try and work out what the metal is first.. could it be a metal conduit that’s shielding electrical cables? Not got a socket in line below perhaps?

Thats the thing – not sure if the metal is protecting something, but sockets are either end of the wall probably 2ft away from the existing drilled holes. Research suggests it could be metal frame that the PB mounts on to but i cant be sure…

I just dont want the whole thing to come tumbling down in the night, and also dont want to make a right mess of the wall by putting in fixings which arent suitable.

29ers for short arses always look odd IMO.

I took back a Footpump bust after 5 months and was told “out of guarantee”

    Hogwash.

Guarantees are in addition to your statutory rights under the SoGA, not instead of them. They can’t waive your rights, that’s what “statutory” means.

After five months, it’s the retailer’s responsibility to prove that the fault wasn’t inherent at the point of sale, and they’re legally obliged to repair / refund / replace to make good. If what you’re saying is true, they’re breaking the law.

    Its actually 6 months…. 😉

£25 a pair or each? If so where are they for a pair? 😉

    Winstanleys are doing them for £19 each though;

Hook could be an optio and already thought of that…only thing it’s a partition plasterboard wall so not sure if would support the weight, even though it’s a road bike. I could just take the wheels off and be done with it but rather avoid the hassle if I can.

I’ve seen the andystand but it is quite bulky and would take up a lot of space which I don’t have a lot of.

Just got back from a weeks diving on a liveaboard boat which was great in every aspect. However the day we had to kill in Sharm wasn’t very enjoyable as already said above. Loads of security everywhere, hassle from people every 5 minutes on the street and the whole place was a tatty, with loads of half built building sites that resembled a middle eastern war zone. And loads of pissed and aggressive Russians hanging around bizarrely.

Heavy snows at base camp level in the NW Alps….chairlifts and Gondola closed as upper lift station completely snowed in past few hours.

Got to stick up for the Nova…they were good cars in their day. I had one for 8 years and 80k+ miles and was totally reliable, easy to work on, simple and tough. 45 mpg+ regardless of how you drove it. Still sought after as cheap privateer rally cars today. But yes, the saloons did look hideous. Best were the 3door with the square rear arches 😉

Lived 14 mile away all my life and worked in the city for 12 years now. Not a bad place, feels more like a large town than a city IMO. Surrounded by lovely countryside, yet not too far from Brum/ Bristol etc. Has a few rough areas like anywhere else, and the city centre has its fair share of scroates/ chavs/dodgy eastern European characters, but not too much of an issue. Traffic can be a kin nightmare at rush hour though.
Not sure on local MTB riding apart from the canal which is good for an off road commute from north right into the city centre. But Malvern just down the road, FOD half hour away, Cannock an hour so is and south Wales.

Maybe if you like a yard and a half of seatpost sticking out when you have the saddle at pedalling height 😉

    +1 Loco.

Seems a bit odd the biggest size will only fit riders up to 6ft 2″ or thereabouts.

Few distant rumbles of thunder at the eastern edge of the NW Alps. All chairlifts suspended until this afternoon due to lightning, Alpine forecast suggesting storms later.

Sea temperature on the surface/shallows on the east coast of scotland and in Northumbria was about 12 degrees a couple of weeks ago on a recent diving trip. There was also loads of jellyfish, thankfully i avoided them!!
