    Bought some forks off ‘Househusband’ recently, well packaged and a pack of Haribo’s included 🙂

    Also was given some cable liner for free by a chap up in the Lakes, who i forget his name!

    Ive bought/sold/gave away various bits over the years on here, as of yet no problems.

    In all honesty i dont know any of the riding around LB, my mate used to live in Tring and i saw a fair few MTB’ers around there.

    Im ideally looking for an online deal. I can hang out for Merlin to get the rim back in stock, just wondered if there are any other options to go for…?

    Recent report from the upper base camp station is that it is now snowing heavily above the tree line, will all lifts now closed and the alpine passes almost blocked.

    Doubt the lifts would be open until June, and there’s still snow higher up as well;

    Well tell him that you are aware of your rights under the SOGA, and if they are not prepared to comply then put it in writing to the manager/head office of the store. Key thing is though not to loose you rag as tempting as it may be, keep polite and formal.

    Your contract is with the shop. If its faulty you are entitled to a refund, or repair/replacement – your choice. End of.

    Ditto the Slovenia comments. I havent ridden there, but visited a couple of years ago around the Bled/Bovec/K.Gora area, beautiful place, quite cheap and not as eastern europe/Balkan as you might think.

    Bike specific insurance for riding in the Alps. Getting a helicopter lift off the side of the mountain is not cheap…..

    Good point, maybe a 5″ bike may not be enough for the extreme alpine trails we get to ride once the snow has thawed….

    Of course i will using it to ride to work…..(COUGH) 😉

    Just an idea at the moment, most of the full suss bikes around £1k seem a bit compromised in terms of the spec, but the Trance seems pretty good out the box apart from the rear shock.

    Depends how much of a battering you like i guess. I prefer riding with rigids, for most of the stuff i ride i can do without suspension forks. However, anymore than a couple of hours on proper bumpy stuff it starts to hurt a bit, so for longer summer rides i use suspension forks.

    Might take a ride up there over the weekend, assuming the winter snows have thawed?

    It will be fine. I recently changed to from 420 to 440mm on my old inbred, rides much better IMO.
