    Thanks Restlessnative.

So reading that a UN26 113mm will give a 50mm chainline. Based on that, any BB with UN, ie a UN54 should also be the same dimension?

    Cheers Nick, useful link.

Would there be any harm in running a 118mm axle, would it bring the chainline out too much? Probably been over cautious, but as there are a few reports of chainsuck with the newer On-One frames, im trying work out the best way to prevent it.

I once saw a RAD-core duuude riding a red Voodoo around the NW Alps once, not sure who it was though as the skillz were so extreme i could’nt recognise him…. 😉

They will both ride similar as they appear both to have the same Motion Control damper. Ive ridden Tora’s and Recons, the Recons are a little more smooth and lighter, bit not a lot in it IMO.

Armchair engineer geek hat on…… 8)

Would the fact that the down tube gusset is welded across (therefore concentrating any frontal forces against it) have been a contributing factor to that frame above failing where it did?

Not meaning to kick up a fuss, just i have noticed that a few frames have the gusset open (a la Inbred), where as other frames weld across the gusset.

Walked, not biked in Slovenia, lovely place and quiet cheap when i was there in 2006. Areas to consider are Bovec/Kransjka Gora in the north west, and apparantley there is some stuff in the north east in Maribor.

Not been there but this looks promising as well – http://www.mtbpark.com/index.php?stran=hotel&lang=en

Funny how Landan seems to get such attention on a MTB’ing forum, considering our sport is about getting out in the countryside away from places just like Landan…

They are OEM shimano 4 bolt cranks, M440 i think. Cheaper version of the Deore. From what you have said should be nice and easy!

Cheers Tinsy, as i said ive never tried it, may well give the existing ring a go. Any tips on how to keep the 32T ring in the same position? Obviously the bash will take the space of the outer, do i user spaces to replace where the inner would of been?

Im looking to do this, and after reading a fair bit of research the comments above are generally whats accepted. A set up of an unramped (SS) front ring, with a bash and n gear jump stop to keep the chain on, and a short cage rear mech to keep it tensioned up.

Not tried myself, but thats what i’ll start with.

Cannock would be the nearest trail centre, probably the easiest option with it been waymarked. Despite what some might say on here, the Follow The Dog course is great fun, nothing technical really butm is better faster you ride it, IMO. There is Lickey/Clent, Wyre Forest and the Malverns all within an hours drive, but you would need a local to show you the good stuff.

Asked this recently, further research suggests a SLX short cage mech will work up to 34T.
