Probably something from RAF Fairford, apparentley the Malverns are often used as a vantage point for exercise.

Just looked at the Scandal, looks good but doesnt appear to have a replaceable gear hanger which kind of puts me off.

Yep, air in the brakes will be drawn into the caliper where it will affect braking. Normally the air can rise up to the master cylinder and sit at the top of the resevoir. My hope minis were particularyly affected by this…

Shimano brakes arent affected by this, ive stored my bike for 4 years leant up against a wall with no issues at all.

i used to work at a place called fergburger in queenstown, NZ and they are regarded by many to be the best burgers in the world; we even had some whacky american fatty fly over just to try one!!!!

the beefburgers there were simply high quality nz beef pattys all made by (generally japanese) hand on site. no seasoning or anything was added.

the secret was in the sauces, which again were all made on site from the freshest & best ingredients. have a gander at their site for the menu.

If i had the spare cash i would fly out to NZ just to eat another one of those. In 3 days i spent in QT i must of had half a dozen! 😛

Dodgy as hell IMO. Although no doubt in a short while some Guardian reading lentil munching socialist will be along trapping off that its all fine and we are wrong to assume, etc… 😉

I would say more like £600 on the bay as a complete bike. Maybe more if you split it.

There is *nothing* wrong with supermarket petrol, it has to meet the British Standard required. However, other fuel companies do add things to their products, which generally gives better mpg and performance. What it does in the long term to your engine i have no idea, im sure an armchair expert will be along shortly to give an answer.

Should of mentioned it would be used with a 1×9 set up – 32T ring with a 11/34 cassette. Ive read a short cage mech with a 1×9 set up can help keep the chain tight?

Elaine – i agree with others above; at 5'11" the large frame would be sound.

Id be up for it, assuming the snows dont block the high altitude alpine passes….. 😉

Cheers James. Any experience of using it, just trying to work out if its worth getting a stem. Just like the idea of integrating the light unit and stem.

Did it about 5 years ago, and it was fine on a XC bike, just super steep and loads of high topped berms. I understand since then it has changed a fair bit though, i.e more badass DH stylee.

    Try http://www.megatrain.com/uk/

If you are flexible on travelling times and book in advance there are serious bargains to be had.

FWIW i went Brum to Edinburgh last year for £6 (although i think they have discontinued that route now). You go on a Virgin/similar train – not some special they lay on that takes 22 hours, etc.

Wheels on the ground XC then 20", more jumpy style of riding then an 18" IMO.

Well good luck, some of the rain we had earlier in the week fell as snow on the upper slopes 😉

Would of joined you but my bike is a bit f*cked after a days 'core sessioning at the Cannock Plateau yesterday.

Usual answer when a 1×8/9 comes up is to use a bash and N Gear Jump stop to keep the chain on. An unramped (SS) chainring, short cage mech and properly tensioned chain will help things further.
