Blowtorch around the crank/BB area, then hit the crank from the other side with a hammer. Helps if you have a vice.

Only ridden mine briefly since building it up, but im running 120mm Recon's and it seems spot on. I reckon it would be too twitchy any shorter.

Doesnt feel any smaller really – for pedalling height i have a fair bit of seatpost showing so it felt fine size wise to me. The main difference between the two i can tell is it seems to be stiffer and the slacker geometry gives more of a relaxed ride. This could all be in my head though… 😯

Im 6ft 2" and have both a 20" DN6 inbred, and more recently a 20" 456. Ive ridden a 18" which felt nice and compact, but i couldnt get the saddle up to a decent pedalling height. Depends on the type of riding you want to do on it, i just ride 'XC' stuff so the larger frame suits me.

Which section have they felled? I went about 2 months ago, and the only felled section i remember was towards the start, had a few high berms on it.

You can buy these little sandbag type things(great description)from Halfords et al, which you place under the seats and they absorb moisture.

I'd take an educated guess and presume the chainstay profile is the same on the SS as it is on the normal 456, which is a 50mm chainline (like most bikes these days AFAIK)

*awaits the usual smart-arse to appear to claim a CX bike/Rigid 69er fixed wheel/Bamboo constructed adult trike with trailer/Penny Farthing/etc is the best option for Llandegla*

    😉

Ive been riding a geared inbred for past 4 years, with both rigid and various suspension forks. IMO they have good combination of been nice and cheap with sorted geometry that rides well, ideal combination really. OK, the finish is a bit poor but at the price you pay you cant complain. Great base to build a good value solid and functional bike with modest kit.

Just built up a 456, waiting on some suspension forks to finish it off, im hoping it is as enjoyable as my old one.

I think i have only seen about 4 other inbreds as well ever – two of which i spotted when in New Zealand!

Good to see a replaceable gear hanger as well. I know steel hangers can be bent back and all that, but ive always wondered why they arent fitted to steel frames as its a whole lot easier to bolt on a new one.

Sweet frame, shame i cant afford one! 😕

Despite my earlier comments, after the JEJ repsonse to this thread i am now tempted by those Recon's at that price… 😉

LMTTmark – do a search on here, JE James have a reputation for sh*te mail order service – not that i used them myself, but enough was said on here to put me off buying those Recon's from them, despite the good price.

'I have seen a 351 solo air version for £189 somewhere'

That would be JE James – so not worth the inevitable hassle
