Hmmm, good chat – thanks! 2 Apple TVs sounds good to me if I can work a few things out. My fridge is integrated so nothing sticks to it!!

Thanks for your info so far, much appreciated.

I have an Apple TV in the living room for those few times we actually use it. I presumed it wasn’t possible to use another one on the same network so hadn’t thought about it as an option. I’ll look into that.

Aye, just for travelling. Are there any other good networks, are dongles better etc.?

Happy to show you some trails around Stirling area but Carron Valley not my bag (unless it rains tons and I forget how tragic it is of course).

Pivot Mach 6 YUM! And retain my Whyte M-109. Love it.

Sorry, the Orange Clockwork is one I haven’t tried.

Agreed – I have a full suss 29er Whyte with great stand over but I had previously always had trouble with standover height on Whyte hardtails, which is why I never bought one.

I would love one myself but can’t seem to find one that doesn’t destroy the diffuser on a Volvo V60 R-Design. Anyone any ideas? Took the bikes across Europe on the roof and transformed a very fast, 50mpg car into a slow car with a sail and got 35mpg!

I rode tons of bikes in my last job and felt that the Whyte 29ers were the most sorted 29er I had ever ridden by far. The short chainstay length makes a massive difference and it’s the first bike (among 26ers!) where I take to the air readily. It is absolutely superb. However, I’m 6′, so you have to go on other people’s advice as to what it’s like if shorter.

They turn corners (sounds stupid!) whereas I was struggling with most others…!

If you both have iPhones then use Find My Friends. I got lost up near Aboyne and my wife helped me out. Only problem was that my phone dropped out of my pocket at the top of the last descent so she thought I had knocked myself out as I was stationary for 40 minutes before I trudged back up and found out. It should have been a true death ride!

Enjoy and get stuck into the wine! I’m just back from Alsace and adore it. I can’t help as I didn’t go MTBing but I did take the road bike and loved it. When I was climbing up from Ribeauville up the Col Haut du Ribeauville, I noticed a few times that there is a large car park on the left hand side where a lot of MTBers park up. There looks like quite a few trails dotted about around there and one that follows the road in places so that’s worth a look.

Sorry I can’t really help but enjoy – Alsace is amazing and I keep saying I’ll move out there, discover the trails and start a bike business of sorts…!

Never thought of Harz – my Dad always went on about it because they bred canaries there (!) but never been, might be a shout for a few days, thanks.

I have the Weeride and it’s superb. Solid built, easy to fit and my wee 1 year old loves it. So much better on the front apart from you do have to stick your knees out a little bit, but not a biggie. One big problem is that her helmet is so big on the outside that it keeps getting pushed forward over her face by me. So we have gone helmet less, which isn’t the best idea. So somehow I need to find a way of moving her head away from my chest.

Seriously though, it’s an absolutely brilliant seat so maybe that bit is just something I need to work on.

Rang Orange and they can’t do anything unfortunately. Ringing the police is going to make the situation insane.

Agree with paleo diet but one step at a time for me – I’m gluten free after a recommendation from my chiropractor. Many of the people I know now are and everyone who has tried it has been blown away by how they feel now. I could NEVER go back. That’s no beer, pizza etc. etc. Brutal but that’s against no joint pain, lethargic and feeling crap all the time (although I didn’t know how crap I felt for much of the time!).

Seriously, it’s a revelation and I even spoke to the GP about it, to taunt him about all the people I know who no longer have terrible skin problems, semi-paralysed etc. who are now all fine and he pointed me to the British Medical Journal and told me he knew and that there “is a storm brewing – 70% of the population would benefit from this”!

CO2 is inert (or at least it was when I was 12 in a chemistry class!). However, a whole sink of water and a bottle of potassium was pretty crazy.

I had been looking for a Zesty 314 for a mate earlier this year and couldn’t get one at all, and then I popped into my local shop (who couldn’t get them before) and they still have some at a cheaper price now. Bit late for my mate now but just in case you’re still looking…

    It is here

Eastons have a horrific freehub. DT Swiss have caused problems before with a few buddies. Hope are the most adaptable I have ever used, although they do go through bearings but not overly so. American Classic are not as adaptable but really nice.

Pivot Mach 5.7 is the best bike I have ever ridden. Simples. Flying Fox have tons of demo bikes too (or at least they did a few days ago).

I’ve had tons of cars and the best by far is my Honda Accord P reg 2.2 VTEC. When it’s not in the VTEC (under 4000 rpm) then I get 40 mpg out of it. Plus it’s rapid and I’ve changed the oil, filters and brake discs and pads since I got it at 157000 miles. It’s now at 229000. The older Hondas are amazing.

Smartwool from Flying Fox Bikes? Try SATURDAY as a discount code. It worked on Saturday anyhow! 😕

iainc – cool that it still works. Hope he doesn’t mind…! I’ll certainly pass on that the Phantom can be got cheaper elsewhere – he always says that he’s selling them really cheap already so I was thinking that with an additional discount then it would be silly cheap. Sorry, should have checked it out beforehand! Think I got my last Phantom for £102 (15% off?) and got some other jacket (with zipped armpit things) for the same sort of discount. That’s a good option too actually, I’ll try to get the name of it.

I’m all about the Gore Phantom – it doesn’t get any better and mine’s still going in contrast to my friends’ Stealths.

I was just in my fave shop (www.flyingfoxbikes.com) and they gave me a code for a mate who lives away to get a discount on Gore gear. It worked once, it might continue working due to the codename (!): SATURDAY

I'm the man! Well, actually really dire but my VR-4 with winter tyres doesn't get in any trouble in the first place. Good to see all the muppets in BMWs sliding around in the "Ultimate Driving Machine".

You need some Gore Alp X in your life!

I don't mess around when it comes to tyres so always buy Vredestein. They aren't supposed to be that hard wearing (Ultrac Sessantas) but have lasted for over 17k miles so far on the back of a BMW 330d (it eats rear tyres normally). My wife has Ultracs on her Civic Type R and they've hardly got any wear after around 11k miles and I've had Wintrac Extremes on my VR-4 (300bhp 4WD) for thousands of miles too.

    I'm not sad.

Aye but they bought them for demo bikes as they had believed they had the Lapierre dealership. However, it turns out a shop nearby just achieved this so they can't have them anymore hence the sale.

36 Talas very excessive for that bike. Mate got a Pronghorn 150 with Fox 32 Talas. Rockshox can take more stick from my experience and have greater longevity.

I've got the black and a mate has the camo. Got them from Flying Fox and got serious discounts instore. They're not waterproof but they're good enough. The chemical treatment they use does wear out over time but you can use Granger's or Nikwax thereafter. If you want a waterproof then buy an Alp X.
