I had exactly the same thing happen last year.

Strangest one was being hit by a “flying” snail. A bird was attempting to drop it onto the road to break the shell just as i was riding past!

There’s a reason why 7esque cars are popular on track and that is because they are so well suited to it.
Take any tintop on track and without serious upgrades you could be looking at new tyres and brakes after a day (or less).
With that sort of budget i’d be looking at something like a Caterham R400. But beware…..it’s a slippery slope of upgraditus and before you know it you’ll be wanting more power, more carbon, you’ll “lose” your doors and windscreen etc.
    btw i’m biased….

My (ex) in-laws are a few miles from Clairvaux so i know the area pretty well.
Plenty of great roads in the area (try the D28 out of Clairvaux) but most of the off-road stuff locally consists mainly of forest tracks.
Metabief is about a 45 min drive away and you also have Les Rousses, Morez etc.
If you need to pick up any maps, spares and stuff your best bet would be Lons-le Saunier which is en route if driving.
I have plenty of maps and guide books on the area I can dig out for you.

Geoff Hurst in the local M&S.
Had a game of pool with Gazza in a pub in Cheshunt.
Once handed a paper to Ozzie Ardilis on my paper round.
Met Henry Cooper coming out of a local bookies and he shook my hand (he had very big hands)
Bumped in to Pat Jennings quit regularly (another one with big hands).
Stephen Hawking at Duxford RAF museum.

Firstly, “I found the one I wanted” and then to only start looking less than a week before her birthday?

Wrong on both counts (to a womans eyes anyway)

Don’t ask me how i know this.

The Octavia isn’t the same sector as a Mondeo/Mazda 6.
It’s a small family car so competes with the Focus etc.
The fact it’s got a huge boot confuses people i think – there’s a couple of inches less rear legroom than a mk vi Golf for example.
Not sure how the mark 3 model compares as i haven’t seen one in the flesh yet.
The japanese still can’t do interiors though…..

I’m on my 3rd now and my 2nd diesel.
The PD engine does suffer from duff injectors – i had 2 go at different times and it’s not much fun having the car cut out on the outside lane of the motorway.
I understand they are a warranty recall now but they weren’t at the time of mine going. These were £500 each plus £200 for the associated loom! Luckily it was a company car.
The rear wash wipe pipe can detach causing fluid to enter the wiper motor resulting in a new motor. These aren’t too expensive and i never had any problems after using the recommended VAG screenwash.
I bought a Limited edition model in July of last year which has the FL underpinnings but older style body.
The CR engine is a big improvement on the PD engine in terms of smoothness, power delivery and noise and economy is better also.
I had the DPF filter pack up and Skoda were looking for £1630 to replace! I had this removed by Shark Performance and remapped at the same time to remove engine warnings and a bit more power(about 205bhp and 330-340lb/ft of torque) for about £800. They also do a map to give standard power. Factor in for a new clutch if going for the more power as standard are rated at 310lb/ft from memory. Had mine done last week at Jabbasport for a Sachs uprated one for £1,000 but included new Dual Mass Flywheel and CRB.
It’s worth trying to get a FL model with leather as the standard “silver” seats (read white) are completely impractical and get filthy in no time!

    I used Warners here

Reasonably straightforward and i got quick responses to my queries from their solicitors. There are prompts as you fill in the forms which are then submitted for them to check over.
If you are both in agreement to the details it’s more a paperwork exercise than anything else.
I was a bit of an emotional wreck through mine so it was comforting to have some support. I had plenty of advice from them on the finances (as my ex was being completely unreasonable) and because children were involved.
It starts getting expensive should you get solicitors involved in negotiating for you but some of these decisions can be with you for the rest of your life so for the sake of saving a few pounds now….
I divorced my ex for unreasonable behaviour which was uncontested. She was having an affair but it’s another thing proving adultery!
