What tool do I need to tighten an Uno ring to the arms?

I use a Park Tool BBT-18 Bottom Bracket Tool

    or Shimano TL-UN96

I’ll hold my hand up and admit I’d never even heard about it

Me neither but looks good fun.

Wonder if its just a Summer thing when the ground is dry and hard? If the ground was soft/wet, all those bikes would trash the grass and I’m guessing that the local cricket/athletics club ain’t going to be too chuffed if that was the case.

Nice looking bike but I just couldn’t get use to that colour. What is it with green this year? Cannondale have gone the green route as well.

Cheers ahwiles & rob2: sounds like both of yours are pretty similar to how I’d wanted it. Be nice to see them though: any pics available? 🙂

@rob2 – Cheers for that. I’d consider 27lb pretty light (same as my Inbred and my now-sold Superlight). Interested to hear you say that the steering might be a little slack for some; given you’re running 130mm forks and the Hemlock sort of sits at 130mm to 160mm, I thought it might be a bit twitchy at the lower travel end. I was, for now, going to stick some 130mm Revs on.

    i wouldn’t recommend it for an xc-racer,

Why not? I’m assuming weight but just wanted to clarify.

Is yours built up burly with 150mm rocker? What fork are you using?

Trying to decide on a Hemlock before they go out-of-stock (knowing my luck!).

Good to see an owner’s opinion. Thought this thread might encourage a few people to buy one but still haven’t seen much mention of new owners on STW.

Interestingly enough he hasn’t been deported.

Can’t imagine a US citizen who’s been here for 30 years and, presumably, without a criminal record is going to be on top of the priority list for removals. Guessing it could also be assumed he has established a family and private life in that time as well.

The bit from the carpark to the quarry up to the foot path is going to be fenced off, and chargeable (about a fiver apparently) – body armour and full face also required for insurance purposes, also over 18s only.

Suggests they are going to have to employ someone to monitor the site and collect the fees?

Not really tried much shore but, if it is built, it would be rude not to try it: a whole new world of painful ways to injury myself 🙁

The anticipation to see what fresh challenge awaits as I cycle up to the reservoir is almost unbearable 😉

Mid-morning yesterday it looked like this…

Its probably changed again by now

Funnily enough mine aren’t strictly bike components as they are a pair of Spez Sport SPD shoes and Spez gloves: both circa 1999 and both used every week.

Blimey, its a minefield. We moved out of our property last year and into a rental as we wanted to move areas because of schools. Are you saying that from the time we moved out we’d be liable for CGT if the property went up in value even though its our only property?

    nukeproof

Is it your only property? If so, I don’t think you pay any CGT…well, that was my understanding.

    that’s the 18″

Thats a surprise; thought it was a 20″…looks quite ‘gatey’ for an 18″ relative to O-O frames

I use a bit of copper slip when I’m installing headset cups. Think I got the Finishline stuff which comes with a brush…the amount I use it, the whole pot should last me years

Not much to say really…looks alright but nothing special. Head angle looks a bit slack but then I don’t what riding the bike is designed for. 😐

    1) 0
    2) 2 excluding the odd branch hit
    3) 0
    4) less than 3% ridden without a helmet.

To me, wearing a helmet whilst out cycling is as normal and instinctive as wearing a seatbelt when driving.

For 2 hour blasts I use a waterbottle and a Camelbak flashflo (effectively a bumbag). Mines the old model of Flashflo with a removable bladder and I actually don’t use the bladder with it but shove all spare tyres, pump etc in instead. For short blasts I much prefer minimalist kit and its particularily nice not to have a full size Camelbak on the back and shoulders.

    Wanted something ugly and un-nickable

    FAIL!

Think it looks great but anything that even vaguely looks good, automatically becomes a target.

Eh? What retailer would wait until their customers got the order before charging them? No payment, no item.

We vote for a political party. As mentioned before we don’t have presidential elections.

That maybe so but IMO it ‘feels’ more US-like and presidential these days and, given this perception, people will associate a political party with its figure head rather than associate with a party as a whole.

If the public, and not the labour party, had voted him in then I think it would lessen the hatred and some areas would put up and shut up. However, he wasn’t elected by us and, to make matters worse, he bottled out of calling an election late last year, if the press are to be believed.

Depends if it was a bridleway or not but if it wasn’t, I’d just put it down to experience, forget about it and probably stay well clear of the area in the future. On the odd occasion when this has happened to me, I find I’m all pumped up and annoyed on the day but by the next week/weekend it’s a distant memory.

I would be very annoyed if a shop had tried to get a way with sending me a 2007 which was sold as a 2009 frame…if they did know it was an 2007, it demonstrates a certain contempt for the customer that they would expect them to ignorantly not notice the difference.
