@mtb-idle. Probably a bit late now (An hour before ride!) and, not sure if your offer is to OP, I don’t want to turn up uninvited but would have been interested in ride. Oh well 🙁

Oooo, I like that. Is that the medium? Be nice to see it built up. So currently up at £1099. Hmmmm.

It shows you what one trillion dollars looks like physically

Wow. Wasn’t expecting it to look like that much…Amazing.

Personally I dislike the thought of bikes not getting used, just sitting in sheds and garages gathering dust. If they all get used, then you haven’t got too many IMHO

Good to see TM still around. I’d be up for a Reigate/Redhill ride but not a night ride (no lights)

Good luck. Hope the sun shines and you all have a fantastic day!

Talking on Orange Five’s on eBay, this one is intriguing me…

Orange Five SE 2009 Mtb White Mountain Bike

Nobody is buying but I wondered what would be reasonable?

Saw a couple of Hemlocks ‘sold’ to other bidders in exactly the same area…no real bidders it seemed at what I thought were low prices.

Off out in the next hour to take in most of the Surrey Hills 🙂

Nice one. Only recognise a few of the bits they are making but who cares as it looks cool 😀

Just seen this on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/cannondale-prophet-2-cross-country-mountain-bike

That Prophet has been on eBay a couple of times at least now. There’s another which is exactly the same and has been on eBay 3 times now…no bidders at £650 iirc the last time it was on.

Been watching both but its pick up only: as one is Manchester and the other is Cumbria and I live in the South, I haven’t bid.

Also after a Prophet (medium) and have been for a while. Prefer the Prophet 2 as the Prophet 1 doesn’t come with U-Turn which I really use on my Revs plus, like z1ppy, I’ve got loads of bits to upgrade it with.

Its either the Prophet or the Hemlock for me…I’ll get either one eventually; patience is a virtue and all that. They’ve got to be easier to find than Sodas 🙂

Another vote for Primeval. …and also Come Dine With Me. …and Skins. …and 10 Years Younger (previous series without Myleene was better)

To add to the list though, we have been watching the new sketch show from those two from Gavin & Stacey 😳

I’m not *exactly* thin, but I’ve mislaid 25% of my bodyweight somewhere…

😆 all good for the cycling. Lost some myself last year and it does make the hills easier.

I remembered your name as there are a few around from the Redhill/Caterham area. Seem to remember Twiglet Monster organised a ride but I couldn’t go.

And this one is quite good fun

    http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=522160&Y=155569&A=Y&Z=120

That one is in the loop I described; its a good one, lots of rocks in places. Always muddy towards the top as the horse owners to the left of the path drain the crappy water on to the path.

:EDIT: hey, just saw you profile phinbob…its fatbob from the old forum! So you’re now thin?

Reigate to Leith Hill is also doable. Though a little more road than usual.

To reduce the road and if your legs are up for it, drop down into Mickleham, cross the A24 then up to Norbury Park, across to Ranmore (could take in the back of Polsden Lacey) then along the top dropping down into either Westcott then up Wolverns or drop down to Abinger Hammer and through the little paths to Peaslake

Use to pretty much always start from Reigate Hill. You can do a nice loop by going up to the Reigate Hill viewpoint then head north over the M25, across Banstead Heath, continue to Langley Vale, then head south again on Pebble Lane then Stane Street. This takes you through to a descent nearly into Mickleham. You can then go up the bridleway to the side of Box Hill or Juniper Bottom bridleway. Then its back via Headley Heath and then the North Downs Way.

Potential cafe stops at Headley Heath car park, Box Hill and Reigate Hill. Best to get OS Explorer 146 map. Can get slowed down by horses on the weekend and some section having limited horse overtaking ability so you’ve got to hope the horse riders are in a happy mood.

No to earning more than £63k MP wage 🙁
No to earning more than £30k expense point 🙁 🙁

…but then I do only work 3 days a week and often get to cycle on Monday and Friday when the trails are empty 😀

Tough call really as you would be getting a mortage 4.5% above base rate which is never going to seem like a great deal. I know the good old days have passed but to think my last fix rate was 4.69%…0.19% above base rate at the time.

Agree with what Pauly says though…as Yazz once said ‘The only way is up’

Noticed this myself only recently: a set of my U-Turn Revs do this…2008 model. No loss of air but it ‘sounds’ like they are lossing air. It sounds like it coming from around the top of the U-Turn leg. Its not the valve. At a loss really but its never been a performance issue. I’ve got another older set but they haven’t been fitted for a while; can’t remember them making the same noise.

Strange thing is that it goes after I’ve ridden for a while but comes back after a downhill section or a section where the forks are working more.

TOTAL CRAP. Completely depends on the size of bike you’re buying.

Wwwwooooah there, steady now. Did I not put enough caveats in my comment…’IMHO’,’as a rough guide’. Given not all manu give both actual and effective, its works quite well for me although generally I get 16″ to 18″ and for those sizes its worked okay…and I should have said this: thank you for pointing out my glaring omissions 🙂

Angus Deayton went to mine but not at the same time as me…Not exactly a great boast! He came back and did a kind of Evening with Angus event: quite enjoyed it as I remember.

IMHO as a rough guide I’d say effective TT is generally about 0.75 of an inch longer than actual TT.

    Another square taper user here.

Axle width will vary: to get chainring clearance on my Inbred I had to use a 118mm axle. This was also what was advised to get a 50mm chainline. Chainsuck damage was a bit of an issue on my Inbred so I did try a 122mm axle 😯

My set hasn’t got one: it was an older model and, after a bit of research, I understand they didn’t come with them anyway

A (*cough*) friend of mine (*cough*) did this: don’t know for others but Thomson state 3mm between top of steerer to top of stem.

    Worse case, higher rise bars?

all my bikes have been a medium

    There’s the clue 😉

At 5’9″ I was going to get Medium…Large would have been waaaaay big.

TBH I always thought it was down to how hooked and fin like the teeth looked so I was hoping that someone would post a pic of a worn cassette as the OP asked. Fair point though that its not how it looks, its how it performs.

Ha ha! So, nobody on here, at least, does this?????????????

Youse’re all dirty, mucky buggers. And you look at all sorts of filth.

Not saying they don’t but, as I said, if ain’t illegal, whos going to give a shit?

Thus, You’re not fit to comment on anyone else.

    …and you are?

I know this, because your IP’s have told me this.

    Yeah? Bolloxs 🙂

No, but what about her right to privacy? As everyone else?

I do agree that she has a right to privacy and this appears to have been breached but that angle is not going to sell papers: that would seem to me to be fairly obvious to most I’d assume. Its the public appetite for stories of schadenfreude. What point are you arguing here?

Did you know; every filthy, dirty, smutty, pervy little site you look at, is recorded by your IP. you wanna be worried about the dodgy ‘schoolgirl doggy style’ vids that you lot look at…..

Why? Even if somebody did watch them, who cares as long as there not charged to somebody’s employer and illegal.

    If she’s a ****, fair enough.

    Eh?

I know they’ve all got to put on a professional gloss on it now and do the whole PR exercise to show they are taking it so seriously, blah, blah, blah…but I’d love it and have a bit more respect if she came out, half joked about it and said something along the lines that he is so busted, has been an embarrassing **** and that he is going to get a right kick up the arse when she gets home.

    clearance is a bit tight

Thats a shame. Had enough of worrying about tight chainrings on my Inbred 853. British designers with their love of huge tyre clearance 🙄 😉 Still, there’s always work arounds.

@rickos. That bike looks stunning…spot on for how I’d build it. Didn’t think I’d like the white but it looks great as there’s not too much of it. Still, given Cotic have sold out of white, thats one decision thats not going to need to be made! Hoping the anodized will be harder wearing as in it can’t chip like paint.

So why do you ditch the Pikes…just for the extra travel?

For any owners, hows the chainring clearance: heard it was tight and the chainstay could get a bit of chainsuck damage?

Ms Smith was not home when the films were viewed, sources told the BBC. She lives with her husband, Richard Timney.
