Well as a starting point you might want to read this thread…

    http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/arrrrgh-inbred-and-chain-suck

Its more Inbred based but same principles apply.

There is a black one sitting on the top shelf in Freedom Bikes, Brighton (not sure of the size though).

Did you notice if the 08 Hemlock frame has gone yet?

How much can you get the Fox F100 RL QR15 for? Isn’t the RL model OEM? Just trying to see what the price difference would actually be.

Personally I’d get the Rebas for the same reasons clubber said.

Don’t give it too much thought. It’s just an implement for picking up rubbish from your floor. There are far more interesting things to devote your time and effort to.

Exactly. Its just a vacuum cleaner FFS. 🙄

(Have a DCO8 Allergy and a DC16 handheld but still agree with my comment above 🙂 )

    Giro Indicator 😀

…broke my ‘expensive’ helmet so started using my wife’s Indicator about a year ago. Does the job so I’ve never bothered replacing my one.

Just bought a top end sram cassette and chain.

Yeah quite tempting…PG980 is the lowest spec with an alloy carrier iirc. £32.95 with free P&P seems good from here…Absolutecycles on eBay

kevin and neil how can i order cheap cassettes link no worky .

Yeah I just found that…think maybe they’ve been bought up in the last few days.

Best I can see now is Rutland Cycling on eBay at £39.99 + £2.50 postage. Same cassette is going for £71 on their actual website.

…unless someone knows somewhere else cheaper.

Nope to pricey for me. £487 finish.

Yep the Prophet 2 has the U-turns (409’s),

Hmm, that is tempting. Got a 10% off voucher for Evans (more to do with ease of distance) which will get the price down to £1079.

did you not enquire after the full bike (medium) that didn’t even get a bid last week?

Collection only iirc. They were Cumbria and Manchester again iirc which too far away.

TBH I’ve got some nice components and ideas of what I like to spec it with so I’m raelly after the frame only as I don’t want the hag of flogging off unwanted bits.

Just buy a new Prophet 2 and sell the bits you don’t want/need.

I don’t like the gopping green Cannondale decal 😳

…does the Prophet 2 come with Pike’s with U-Turn. I saw the Prophet 1 the other day and noticed it didn’t have u-turn.

Nope, sold my Superlight to get one…or something similar. After a medium.

So, since this thread is bumped again, what do you think the eBay one above is worth? Whole bike new was only £1399 so I figure less than £500?

Gee, thanks for bumping the thread z1ppy 🙁 😉

I’d rather watch Dave Lee Travis play MacBeth

Yes, well, who wouldn’t? The Hairy Cornflake certainly does exude stage presence.

increase the BB to suit wider tyres?

Do you mean increase width of BB? If so, isn’t the reason to do with Q factor…Sheldon explains http://www.sheldonbrown.com/cranks.html#tread

Its a bit of a FAIL! before you’ve even started really. 😉

Give up and get the Thomson stuff although I’d still get the Middleburn.

    Thanks Brant

Basically though converting is never going to be that accurate: given tyre/rim diameter is going to vary between different bikes and I’m taking this info off their websites, its kind of going to be very much guessing as to the wheel radius when trying to to convert.

There was a couple in the Metro cycling special a few days ago: r6ymy gave one of them for the 15% off but if anyones after a bike use LPBIKES10

Isn’t this a fairly common fault? TF Tuned FAQ…

“Q. Can the leak from the top of my Motion Control be fixed?

    A. Yes. During service we replace the Motion Control compression assembly seals with the improved, modified version. ”

As others have said, ‘you bend them, you mend them’.

TBH though, you’re going to have to talk it through with your mate: if the rims weren’t brand new and say a season of racing old then I would not necessarily expect you to give him the new cost in return…suggest you pay him the 2nd hand value based on their pre-race and pre-crash condition?

Alright, alright…not complaining. 🙄 Quite happily pay my fee for the BBC TV channels and BBC News website but I didn’t realise how far the fee is being stretched to other services…so let’s not all get defensive about it. 🙂

The BBC provides 8 interactive TV channels, 10 radio networks, more than 50 local TV and radio services, the BBC’s website, and the on-demand TV and radio service, BBC iPlayer.

Wow. My ‘TV’ licence fee is subsidising loads of services I’ve never used or heard of.

I’ve been reading and following this thread but not commenting as I don’t feel I have any suitable advice to add. However, I was stunned to hear you’ve now been fired and want to wish you the best of luck getting this sorted and finding a new employer. Good luck!

all comers are welcome but yes, it was probably a bit late in the day. Keep an eye out on my ride diary and let me know if you want to join a future ride.

Will do…cheers mtb-idle. Did managed to get out…rode out from Dorking to Pitch, Holmbury etc: great ride. Think I know where that Alastian trail is if it’s off Stane St? The gate/driveway bit looks familiar but I could be wrong.

Managed to get ‘As New’ Shimano XT M750 chainset for under £30 and then got a UN54 BB: both going strong after well over a year of cycling…top stuff.

I had some XT hubs built up with DT Supercomp spokes and Stans 355 29er rims by JRA. Came in under £250, were top quality, light and stayed tight and true for all the time I had them whatever I through at them.

    is that with tubes?

    Yep.

Not heard of the Hutchinson Bulldogs as per your link so can’t comment.

I like to run my tyre pressures low on my hardtail, particularily at the back, for traction and comfort but it takes a bit of trail and error to find how low I can get away with before they get to wallowy or suffer pinch flats. On my 29er I could get away with under 20psi with Bonty ACX tyres!

    nukeproof
    Free Member

I weigh slightly less than you and run my back tyre at around 25psi and my front just under 30psi, both with tubes, on my hardtail. TBH though, how low you can run the tyre will depend on the tyre you use. My rear tyre is a big rubbery DH tyre with fairly decent sidewalls so it supports itself better than skinny walled tyres.

Have you been storing it/the bike upside down at all? That’ll cause the lockout to stop working for a bit.

Yeah, noticed the same with mine. Would go out cycling and it would work again fine.

External floodgate on the Race, internal on the SL. I’d get the SL: floodgate is still adjustable on the SL but just internally i.e. with an allen key. Floodgate is a set and forget feature anyway IMHO

Just had a look at Merlin: nice fork and this year’s model at a good price. Looks a good buy 🙂

So when you say 18″ do you mean medium? Its just the medium is 19″ on the link.
