This is top news…genuinely well chuffed for you. 😀

until now I always went through life thinking that most people were alright.

They are…you just got very unlucky (understatment!). Hope is doesn’t dent your faith in others too much but understand its going to take a while for that faith to be restored…this thread is a good starting place

Blimey, is this still going…last post I saw on this thread was a Kylie pic, nipped out for a cycle, back again and its over 300 post! What have I missed?

SigmaF – Your original post sounds encouraging and what I wanted to hear…good stuff

Well, in the end I gave Roger at WheelPro a call and went with the Hope ProII on 355. He’s pretty confident of what they are capable of and I’m happy to take his advice given his experience of wheels.

    Still can’t decide…anymore opinions?

355s as tough as Mavic 719s or should I be looking at the Arch rims?

Forks have arrived now and I’m itching to put them on but don’t have a compatible front wheel 🙁

Aside from whether Fox are better or worse than other forks, I think its an image/marketing thing: speccing Fox forks on complete bikes helps sell the bikes…I just get the impression your average MTBer off the street who doesn’t spend countless hours pouring over the mags/websites/forums etc sees Fox forks as a definite plus when purchasing off-the-peg and so manufacturers spec them.

    I hear it’ll be taupe.

Is that true or just speculation? I hope not…already got a ‘sand’ coloured frame and I was considering a Soul again.

Worthing having a search of the various forums as that particular leak is not uncommon. Here’s one for starters…

The Poploc levers are all the same (although newer forks now have Pushloc) but you would need to replace parts in the right fork leg. Its nice to have as I do have a set of Revs with Poploc but I won’t bother upgrading my other set of Revs which don’t.

Notice the ‘weeny’ little Star Destroyers around it.

Size isn’t everything. Star Destroys have the same optional extras but come with parking assist as standard.

Star Destroyer…nice and roomy, quite well armoured and have a surprising turn of speed.

Still, when they cost more than 3.88 billion Imperial credits, which is the equivalent of several star systems’ annual economic output, I might be waiting a while before affording one 🙁

Just sorting out the lawn in our house which pretty much invloves digging up the whole lawn with a fork due to the crap condition of it. Fun, fun, fun 🙄

Doesn’t seem a bad price for a quick and hassle free sale. Have you still got the original bar/stem/seatpost? You could remove the carbon fibre bits, pop the orginals back on then sell the CF seperately.

They’re OEM forks (2007s?). Mostly fine but you won’t get a warranty

    …and you know this how?

I reckon 355s are tougher than Mavic 317s

    Yep, reckon you’re right

I have been using the 29er 355’s for nearly two years now on rocky terrain (Cairngorms area) and had no problems so far.

Yeah, found the same when I had a set.

I’m sure a 355 would be fine, just seems a bit lightweight when matched up with Pikes and 2.35 Highroller

Found Bonty ACX to be excellent all rounders. Never got around trying the 29er Small Block 8 tyres I’ve got…must get around to bunging them on the Classifieds.

Maxxis Say they are 695g. JRA say they are 646g. On picking mine up (when fitting) they feel pretty light

Got a 2.35 folding HR last week and popped it on the digital scales: came in at 697g. I’d certainly consider that light enough for XC but certainly heavier than the Bonty Mud-X I did have on.

Have had to order a longer brake hose thought as the pikes seem to be taller than the 09 revs

Oooo, hadn’t thought of that…still, first things first, got to get a 20mm front wheel!

Hugh – So do they look the same as per the 09 forks on the SRAM site…http://www.sram.com/en/rockshox/allmountain/pike/#tab1

    nukeproof

Just ordered as couldn’t resist. I was thinking of getting Revs with Maxle but the RRP on those is around £640: the Pikes are half the price yet still Air, U-Turn 110 to 140mm, and Maxle plus, going from the SRAM site, not even that much heavier 😀

Quote seems about right to me. My brother’s car, a Golf, was damaged by a neighbours kid and he got a mobile repair service out and I’m sure it cost more than the quote you’ve been told. He never did get the full amount out of the parents. As previously said, just because it an L reg doesn’t mean its going to be cheaper than a 09 plate.

So who has actually been affected by a “fair use policy”?

    nukeproof
    Free Member

Can’t see the problem as its a ‘don’t take the piss’ clause inserted as there is always some people who do…same as ‘all you can eat buffets’ where they’ll be some person eating the restaurant out of food!

have been unable to find on their site any information the actual quantity of download that is regarded as “fair use”.

I’d imagine because if you set say a 100Gb download limit per month, you’d get people downloading 99.9Gb every month so its probably done case by case.

    Hello Colin…welcome to the forum

As much as I keep me chain clean and well lubed

If it cleaned and well lubed, it shouldn’t be getting rusty. Personally I wouldn’t worry about a bit of surface rust as its going to get dirty anyway: lube it up and go ride!

    Budget is about £5k.

😯 Clearly money isn’t going to be an issue.

TBH best just get out there and do some test rides…if it was me and I couldn’t decide on hardtail or up to 5″ travel, I’d be trying bikes like the Rize or an Orange ST4
