Metal fatigue caused by close proximity to an overtight zip tie imho

The crank brothers cobalt one had awful reviews on chain reaction.

Yes but it is guaranteed for 5 years and 2Pure are a top firm to deal with when it comes to replacements as many will testify, me included

I’m regretting selling my Superlight so it’s back on my shopping list…only had it built up for about 3 months end of last Summer. Can’t understand why I suddenly felt it wasn’t right…yes I’d fallen off it a few times and I did get a lot of pedal strikes with the low BB but why did I sell it!?! It’s still very raw and I just don’t think I’m ready to talk about it yet 🙁 😉

For me it was a 2005 Marin Riftzone…couldn’t get on with it but the components weren’t bad so stripped them off and sold the frame.

Certainly not uncommon to hate a bike: there’s been a big thread recently on this here.

Initially a case of ‘WTF’ but I’m trying to think whether I actually sit on the nose of a saddle. Be interesting to try if nothing else.

Went to Legoland yesterday with our just turned 4 year old daughter and 6 year old son…great day out. We had grandparents with us so the 4 year old went on the more sedate rides with the grandparents whilst we took the 6 year old on the rollcoaster rides (110cm ride heights for rollcoasters iirc). 4 year old went down the rapids water ride (100cm ride height iirc) and loved it…which surprised us. I’d probably leave it until they are 3 years old to really enjoy it.

Not a cheap day but very good fun and Legoland is cleaner and better maintained that the Tussauds theme parks IMHO. Plus there’s Lego!!! So when everyone’s cream crackered you can stroll around the Lego city.

Only minor thing was the queue out the park: took us an hour to get out from the car park!

Off to Disneyland in a month and I’ll be interested to see how that compares. Paultons we really enjoyed and the kids were 3 and 5 when we last went.

you ridden them then? or can you tell that from the CAD pictures?

Well have you ridden them then? or can you tell that cynic-al is wrong from the CAD pictures?

Well maybe not cheaper but the Flow version of Hope Hoops would be a good alternative. Can get them at Wheelpro. Just got a front 355 wheel from there: quick delivery and Roger is a top bloke

My brother’s rotor bolt sheared so we got a hacksaw and cut across the top of the bolt to allow the use of a big flat blade screwdriver to get in there…worked fine.

The employee (agent) voluntarily assumed responsibility in telling you it would be ok to keep the bag in the room – with the implication that if would be safe (why else would you ask?) – I suspect the terms of this conversation are where the nun of the matter is.

Agree with this. Does OP have proof they told them it was safe to leave belongings in the room?

IMHO I wouldn’t say the charity has complete liability as I would say that its still the responsibilty of the owner to ensure their belongings were left somewhere safe and do find it strange that you’d leave objects to the value of £600.

I’d prefer to go down but its probably be better to go up…thats based on effective TT: I hate having too short a reach and there’s only so much you can add with a longer stem or layback seatpost before it screws up handling.

Just got a Hope Pro II 20mm with 355 from Wheelpro for my Prince Albert with Pikes. I was a bit concerned it was too light/flexi when matched with the Pikes but I’ve had a set of 355 29ers before and they stood up to everything I could throw at them plus Roger @ Wheelpro was confident it would be fine.

I reckon you’ll break before they do 😉

For MTB I think anything over 7 speed is just pointless obsoletism:-(

    I agree with sfb 😀

Well I’d say yes…I’ve got an Inbred with a 105mm headtube and fitted a set of Revs with a 170mm steerer! Still had a Thomson stem on there which has quite a high stack height. Was using a Orbit XLII headset.

Previously had the Revs on a Superlight with a 100mm headtube: Had a Thomson stem and CK headset on there plus still needed a 3mm headset spacer.

Now got a PA actually but I’ve stuck Pikes on it. It all depends how you prefer your handlebar height: I prefer them as low as possible as, unlike a lot of people, I get backache if the handlebars are high as it causes me to shift my weight off my arms and on to my lower back.

Can’t be worth that much so its not like you’ve got too much money tied up in it, as it were, so strip it down, get the Maxlight and build it up, stick the 853 frame in the loft, and when you’re ready to ride the 853 again you’ll know…thats what I do with my 853 and thats why its also the oldest bike I have and also why I doubt I’ll sell it!

EDIT stick the 853 frame in the loft To be fair, whilst I do do this I doubt its satyed in the loft for more than 4 weeks before its back down again and re-built with the ‘spares’ which are then upgrade to the ‘good stuff’.

Superlight? 100mm on the rear then anywhere up to 125mm on the front. Pop on a pair of 100-130mm adjustable forks and its good for most things from race to all day XC.

I take it you mean something other than one of these?

I preferred PPs though. Use to have his bookmarked but lost them when AOL stopped hosting. Any chance I could get the guides PP?

Also, whats the 5mm allen key for nukeproof?

Can’t confirm for other years but on my XT ’08 hub the 5 mm allen key is how the locknut is tightened as the allen key is inserted at each end into where the QR skewer is removed from.

What Jimbo said…you’ve got to tighten the lockring against the cone (5mm allen key and an 18mm cone spanner for my 08 XT rear hub)

with the steep ramp to a pallet gap jump about 30 meters to the right of ‘Oh my god , I can see why its called Deliverence’ type of build?

The stuff I saw when out walking certainly matched that…I took a few photos but probably best not post them. I’m not that I’m condoning the building of it but I would like to see it being ridden.

hey’ve closed the one in Putney and replaced it with your bog standard Halfords.

Have done the same to the Dorking branch. Felt sorry for the staff as they seemed to want to work there as it was a cycle shop and not a automotive shop.

Anyone know about the Brighton store?

Are they 140mm forks? Is that 70mm stem?

XT for me, certainly on the rear (Having just bought a Hope Hoop 20mm front from Wheelpro)…my XT rear developed a little play after over a year of riding: resolved in about 10 minutes with a 5mm hex key and an 18mm cone spanner.

Given they don’t do VTs anymore, what do you think Giant will replace it with? Trance X?

…or do they just have a stock of old frames for just such an occasion?

Not personally but isn’t it that the reason Hemlocks increased from 100mm travel to 120mm travel with the short rockers was purely because they switched to the 57mm x 200mm shock and there was no different in the dimensions of the rockers? Therefore can’t see any reason why you can’t upgrade to the 57mm stroke shock.

    Aren’t Felt’s a bit crap nuke?

Are you suggesting the Equilink is not the holy grail of bike design? 😉

MBR review tagged on to the Wiggle product page seems positive and the kit spec is a good match to the Pitch. Just throwing some ideas out there 🙂
