Publicly ridiculing his customers like he did recently at O-O I guess. That CRC **** then…..

    Bit harsh….are you grieving? 😉

On-One’s designer and mouthpiece, has been plucked away by mail order company Chain Reaction.

Eh? WTF? Nope, didn’t expect that. So whats he going to be doing at CRC?

Would be a shame if it’s the latter – brant’s always done a nice frame.

    Yep, big shame

For posterity, the tags as they stand at the moment….

Mmmm and edited the list to remove the X next to your own tag but I think we could have guessed 😉

It better be bloody good/surprising after all this hype!

…and I’m talking “Courtney Love ‘expecting Steve Coogan’s baby'” standard of surprising

School use to close when I was a kid and I’m sure they did when most of you were kids so now I’m a Dad its nice to see my children getting a great excuse to spend the day messing about in the snow which, given we’ve not had decent snow in the South East for years, is something I’m glad they can experience.

However, if they’re still off by about Thursday, I’ll be pulling my hair out and phoning the council demanding they re-open 😉

fact of the matter is nukeproof, that fork boots look sh*t. nobody will use them because they’re not fashionable. it’s that simple.

Not disagreeing they look shit but if we’re talking about what looks shit when mountain biking where do you start…helmets, full suspension frames, mud guards. Fact is that if something serves its purpose, it gets used whether it looks shit or not. Gaiters don’t work so they don’t get used.

Regards the other comment I read claiming that gaiters trapped mud is odd. If you make sure you haven’t knowcked them off the crown or the lowers they maintain a perfect seal. Sheesh, some people really have no engineerin g brain!

Well if they’re so good why don’t they get used on any of the leading brands of forks? If they was an engineering advantage to using them none of your reasons…1) cost 2) they don’t look good 3) to increase the volume of sales…would be relevant. Maybe all those people at Fox, RS, Marz etc just don’t have an engineering brain.

Why did I expect to see another Pitch when clicking on this thread? 😉

When I first saw forks without gaiters I wondered how long the seals would survive. I think gaiters disappeared for three reasons, 1) cost 2) they don’t look good 3) to increase the volume of sales.

I thought gaiters went because they didn’t stop the mud/dirt getting in and, in fact, caused mud and dirt to accumlate around the stanctions.

If there was a significant advantage to running Fox forks that compensated for the extra cost and TLC required, I’d spend out and use Fox forks but I can’t see that there is so I use RS forks.

Cheers Carl. One more quick question. To start or open the car manually, is it just the blade or is the frequency/fob relevant there as well?

The remote part of the quote was £65 so hopefully getting it off ebya should save me. Just a bit worried about pulling our ownly working key apart: does it just pull apart? Better google that as well

I’ve got the saddle pretty far forward and flat plus just fitted a 70mm stem

Bit confused here as your saying you think you need a bigger frame then say you put a short stem and moved the saddle forward.

fwiw I’m 5’9″ and on a 16″…90mm stem, layback seatpost. Fits well.

I did get lower back pain but found that reducing the height of the front (low stack height steerer, low risers) and getting the weight slightly more on the the arms (and therefore the front suspension), it took some of the weight off my rear reducing long distance back pain.

Okay, that sounds promising. Just have to be sitting down when I get the quote from the VW dealer

    Appreciate the advice…thanks

Whilst having to spend out is not good I’m more concerned that I will not be able to get a replacement key but I assume its got to be possible.

Depends what you’re intending to use it for…if more XC I’d go for the standard Inbred. I have a standard Inbred and have Rev U-turns on it; complement it perfectly.

So we’re getting 6 of these at £605m each. What sort of threat/conflict situation are these going to be used? Just struggling to see the need for them.

I’ve tried Superstar pads but they just didn’t last so in my mind its the old adage ‘buy cheap, buy twice’ so back to Avid pads now.

I also hang the bike in a warm south facing porch where I’m sure it drys out

    😯

Never bothered…thought about, looked at Framesaver at 18Bikes, then forgot about. Covered the inner BB shell & haeadtube in copper slip as the pot of it I’ve got comes with a brush then put some grease in the open reinforcement bits.

What a cheeky git…second chance offer to the next bidder. Clearly the fact negative feedback can’t be left for buyers has now ’empowered’ them.

Are expensive HDMI leads worth it ??

Thought I read it didn’t make the slightest difference as there was an error correction process in the system?

my reign was £40 for shot blasting and powder coating (Belfast).

Slightly offtopic but is it okay to shot blast aluminium or is it better to chemically strip the paint? Just wondered as the tube thickness can be very thin and I saw an alloy bike on eBay where it had literally had a hole from where they had been shot blasting it.

Why should they? I didn’t have to retest here in Spain…

I took it as read we’d being excluding other EEA nationals as there is no way Europe would let us retest them if they could show they had a valid driving licence from their EEA country.

    nukeproof

Yes but you’ve put permanent; what if they only have temporary leave? Do you ban them completely from driving? What if they wanted to hire a car like many do on holiday? Problem is when the detail is considered its start to get a lot more complicated and therefore seemingly sensible ideas get scrapped

Cheers for your advice Graham but I’ve disabled it now. I added http://www.singletrackworld.com to the white list but it still kept popping up when I went to the forum so I tried to add http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum to the white list and it said I’d all ready added the domain http://www.singletrackworld.com!

Oh well, subscription is up in October.

I’ve added ‘http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum’ in the hope that any thread would be accepted as well but its still popping up for each thread

Good news. Might not have been so good in the later series but a couple of Easter specials is still better than nothing IMHO.

Agree with Stoner but also I don’t think you’re hitting that bigger marketplace on STW; we all might think STW is the centre of the MTB universe but its not, so to find a buyer after a specific frame is actually quite rare IMHO…and even if you do it might not be in in the right size, colour, condition etc.

So if the frame isn’t exactly what a buyer is after then they are not normally prepared to pay top whack. The price gets dropped, and dropped until eventually its cheap enough that even if it ain’t perfect, its good enough and, if its not good enough, they can flog on eBay for what they paid or more!

in exchange for them scratching the crown for me

Yeah thats the problem as I’ve paid an LBS before and they’ve bodged it no better than I could have done.

If there is any lip of the crown race showing on both sides, I turn the fork over and use a wide-as-I-can-find nail punch, tapping once on each side of the crown race, then rotating (normal get my wife to hold the fork) until it eventually falls off (bit of insulating tape on the fork crown helps to stop any scratches from the punch). Works great for RockShox due to the indent (punch sits nicely in the indent) but on Fox it all depends on the width of the crown race.
