I’ve got 719s but if I was replacing I’d get Stans.

Got a Tefal Avanti Toaster that is too shallow for most bread so you either have to turn the bread and burn the middle or live with an untoasted top bit.

We had an Tefal and found that. Thing is most toasters are like that and I hate having to take the top crust off to fit the bread in. Was actually considering taking a large piece of bread into my local Allders to test in which toasters it would fit but my wife pointed out that I’d look like a nutter and be removed.

Park multi tool: comes in 2 halves and has lasted years…I keep the allen key half in my pocket for trail adjustments and the other half with chain splitter and spanner bits in my Camelbak. Think its now called the Park Rescue Tool.

Yes…ran Bonty ACX tyres on 355 29er rims with inner tubes; it was a bloody fight getting the damn things on though.

If its one of the orginal sliding dropout frames it will need to little spacers between the brake caliper mount and dropout…my SH frame didn’t come with any but Brant sent me some FOC which was nice

    What’s the truth about… Quorn

“a small proportion of people could experience mild allergies”…I would imagine there is always going to be a small proportion who suffer mild allergies with any food/drink product 🙄

Wonder what Brant is creating in that shed of his?

Why the anti-Quorn? Low fat, high fibre and not meat. FWIW I love mushrooms as well 😉

Might have just been unlucky but my Merlin wheel (XT hub on 719 rim) lost tension in the spokes after a few rides which was a bit disappointing.

Only real downside of the UN54 over the UN72/73 to me is the use of the plastic cup on the non-drive side…just got to be careful not to overly tighten it. Aside that, my UN54 is still running solid through 2 muddy winters.

27 for the first…then another 3 years later. Probably would have benefited from being a bit older…actually probably would have been better not to have been 5 weeks after moving to rural France, coming in to Winter and with no habitable house.

Woah woah hang on, don’t get me a bad name about Daffy

If you’re referring to my post, I think you miss understood me; I gathered you were not referring to Daffy but more to the people on the hunt…was that right? And yes,I know it wasn’t just that thread.

This is mostly about the classfied profiteering thread? Its a shame that it soon became a witch-hunt without giving daffy the benefit of the doubt but I still think it raised an interesting question and clearly some people had opinions on that. Unfortunately the question got lost in the hunt 🙁

What impresses me is there is no escape routes (or it certainly doesn’t look that way) so once you’re up on it you can’t bottle out; you have to fully commit from start to finish…in my mind, balls of steel stuff 🙂

Woah…personally my posts were against the practise that the OP described and not Daffy; think Daffy should be given the benefit of doubt.

What really grates is when a buyer is giving it the old ‘Only got £XXX left in the Paypal account’,’I would but pay day is next week so I can only go to £XXX’ etc so you let them have it cheaper thinking at least its going to get used by another forum dweller (karma and all that) and actually its to increase their bloody profit margin.

Not sure about naming names but I agree when it is done it doesn’t seem to be in the spirit of the classfieds. Sold a set of forks on here and they were on eBay before I even had an email to say they had arrived as I requested.

It’s business. Millions of business’s do it everyday around the world.

I disagree that the classifieds is a business…or it certainly shouldn’t be used as one.

Wasn’t there a Superstar headset in one of the more recent ST magazines and it didn’t last long with the bearings collapsing iirc?

    nukeproof

Yeah but it tends to be seasonal; in the winter months way to much time spent in the shed, on CRC/ebay etc swapping bits to get the ride ‘just right’. Then the Summer comes and I rather be out there riding than faffing.

A month ago it was Yes…my ‘mere’ On-One was worth more than my car but as we were a family of 4 and the S-reg Ford Ka was getting a bit cramped we upgraded so not anymore.

D: St Peters Golden Ale as it was on cheap in Waitrose
E: Lamb Rogan Josh after seeing a recomendation on here for the book ‘The Curry Secret’. Lovely but the downside is that after simmering the onions for 45 minutes the whole ground floor now stinks and my eyes are bleeding. Still hopeful should clear before the wife & kids return on Sunday.

The very first answer, from a Daily Mail reader… [8O]

    Metro, for me. Freeness :D!

Thought Metro was owned by the same company that publishes the Daily Mail?

    Metro for me as well

Lots, if not most, of garages have money back guarnatees these days

…usually with a time limit. OP says bought a month ago…whats the time period with money back guarantees?

Sale rep 2 says that means premium for that car ie. plan B.

    Sounds a bit sneaky

If I got it cheaper than CRC, I’d consider I’d done well and be happy with that and cut them some slack for not fitting it for free as well.
