Wish I’d seen that Orange fork before I ordered the Salsa one. Looks way nicer.

Nice bakchanded compliment there. Why not just praise the police without the sarcasm?

Of course you can build it up light, as a proportion of the total weight the frame is not that much. A Cham weighs just over 4lbs. A super light cross country frame weighs what? 2.5lbs? and you can get top end cross country bikes around 21lbs? build it up like that and bingo sub 24lbs Chameleon.

Question is whether you would want to.

It will be more fun on a road bike, but you don’t need one.

Brokeback Mountain was not about cowboys, it was about shepherds. Just thought I’d clear that up.

Regarding “boys own” movies (whatever that means
):

    Goodfellas
    Resevoir Dogs
    The Warriors
    Four Brothers
    Battle Royale
    Hard Boiled
The Departed (or Infernal Affairs if you want the original hong kong movie)
    Sahara

Want to more than have to – if someone can’t do what they want to solely because of an event then that is a problem I say.

Millions of people can’t move around London freely one Sunday per year for the London Marathon. Doesn’t seem to be a problem.

At worst it is a minor inconvenience, and it is in aid of a good cause.

I actually feel less secure on techy and jumpy bits when in spd’s, I think because of the float. I don’t feel very connected at all when standing on the pedals. Landing skewwiff on spd’s could also feasibly result in twising out of them, not an issue on flats.

I currently use both but more and more I am going for flats with grippy shimano am40 shoes.

You didn’t make it clear in your original post that you had to swerve to avoid him, if you had I suspect the responses would have been different.

    Buy British.

    (I have a Chameleon 🙂 )

If I was buying again I’d get the Pace, but only because it would match my Pace RC405 full sus. Don’t think there is much between them.

In fact, buy a Pace in medium, black, and I’ll swap you for my medium white Chameleon frame.

    Helpful aren’t I

The lead singer guy in the hat did ok on Never Mind the Buzzcocks. They clearly just wanted to rip into him and he pretty much disarmed them all by taking the piss out of himself and spun it around on Amstell. Not a fan at all of their music, but at least he doesn’t take himself seriously.

I test rode one and loved it. Apart from that I can’t help you on long term ownership concerns as I ended up getting a Bianchi from ebay.

Friend of mine had a knackered old cheap bike that had lived in the garden for years. Council wanted ÂŁ15 to take it away, she put it in the front garden unlocked and it was gone within hours.

Scrotes will nick anything. Good lock and populated area are your only real defence. If your work has a secure lock up (like mine 🙂 then you fare a better chance although I have heard stories of audacious theives getting into these too.

Get a black one, if the silvers don’t match perfectly it will look gash.

I’m 15st and have just ordered the xtra firm spring for my Pikes and Revs. Being able to bottom them out on a flat bit of road just by pushing hard was a bit disconcerting!

    Where you located tang?
I have a soft spring for 07 Rev U-turns that i could let go for £20. Can’t be arsed with posting so if you are in or near London we could have a win win.

I know it is not a scientifc test
did you not pick up on the sarcasm!?

Still, in my experience tent = warmer given the same or similar conditions.

large areas of single pane glass should give you a clue as to why cars get pretty dang cold.

I have a cheap and nasty tent and it is without doubt warmer than the car in similar conditions.

In fact, and here is a scientific test for you
I once slept in the car to allow a mate to have his way with a lady in our tent. He messed it up, she left and he slept alone in the tent.
We had the same sleeping bags, it was identical conditions and I woke up freezing and he was toasty warm.

I am a big supporter of the Police, and for the most part think they did a superb job at the G20.

In the case of this particular incident, it does appear that this individual officer went a bit OTT.

Could it be that you are riding more gnarly stuff, faster on your big bike and therefore giving your forearms a bit of a pounding?

Where a post runs to multiple pages give a page count and link to each page next to the title, so you can jump straight to where you want.

(like Bikeradar if my explanation is not clear enough)

I have always loved the gym, once I get there. The hardest bit is dragging my lazy ass down there in the first place.

This is becoming harder and harder, evidenced by my formerly decent physique now being more fat than formidable.

You’ve had multiple incidents, surely this must be teaching you something
how hard is it to remember to unclip as you slow to a stop?

A panic situation such as a crazy dog running accross your path is understandable.

DNA testing is not 100% accurate, yet is treated as such. Having everyone on file will increase the ammount of false positives and potentially cause the false accusation and possibly even conviction of innocent people.
Targetted testing of those suspected of a specific crime has a much higher valid positive success rate.

They wear the same type of shoes/pedals as everyone else. The key difference between them (and indeed the vast majority of cyclists) and you is that they are not stupid enough to forget how to unclip.

It doesn’t have a head angle that makes people (who haven’t ridden it) go “that can’t possibly work”.

Interesting, so it’s either v slack or v steep for a LT hardtail?
