Apologies for not keeping this thread updated, we managed to build a raft out of inflatable fitness balls of all things! It was super stable and very light. The race was the Sunday before last (5th Aug) and we came in 5th place out of 20 rafts. A very enjoyable day all round.

    Here is the raft…

Nice one Mowgli! Was it built from the Shrike plans? Toying with the idea of building the Vember design from the same guys to replace my ridiculously heavy plastic boat.

Lots of very good ideas thanks chaps, skin on frame construction might be the ticket and I’m thinking of substituting timber for 32mm plastic waste pipe zip tied together, might flex horrendously though.

Thanks for the replies everyone, some good ideas and some good stories!

No limit to size of crew (within reason I guess)

My father got me this: http://www.hornby.com/sets/digital-train-sets/western-master-digital-train-set-with-elink.html

I’m itching to open it and have a play but unfortunately I haven’t got any space to set it up, the basic trakmat it comes with is 1600mm x 1180mm and I don’t really want to set it up on carpet anyway.

Never having had a train set before, I don’t have any idea about layouts and space saving methods.

Any folk on here have any ideas?

Thanks Spooky, bearing that in mind, what is a realistic amount to try and knock off the price?

This dealership isn’t VW btw, independent car dealer.

    Cheers.

Yes amazingly, at 22 I pay roughly £1200 a year for the Saxo, the 1.6 Golf works out at £800.

Not sure why this is? Safety rating?

    Cheers

I ride a small, but a 54 road frame, taking standover height into account I would size down.

Shameless plug, but I have my spare size small frame for sale here:http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/giant-tcx-framset-small?replies=2#post-5893045
