Had a Berlingo where one of the coolant pipes had split, coolant leak only became apparent when looking underneath at higher revs.

    Music theoryists can you help?

If I was to play a I, IV, V chord progression in the key of G on the blues scale I’m left with the following chords: G, C# and D

Now, would the progression be played exactly like that? I’m a bit confused. With the blues scale being close to the minor pentatonic would you play minor chords instead? Or could you substitute with any chords as long as they are in the correct keys?

Haven’t played my acoustic for quite a while, I’m finding fretting notes impossible on the headstock end of the fretboard. I’ve taken to tuning down a full step and just leaving a capo on the second fret.

It’s a decentish Tanglewood and I’ve played about with the truss rod and saddle setting action height, but thinking it might be nut related? Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Posting here rather than starting a new topic, hopefully the woodworkerists can help.

My dear old Nan is moving house, I was clearing out the garage when I found a Stanley Bailey No.3 Plane, its very old and apparently belonged to my great grandfather who was a joiner.

The trouble is that its missing the tote? (handle). I’ve looked online but can only find handles for no.4 planes, does anyone know if these will fit?

I want to get the plane in working order for my little bro who is a carpenter, I’m not bothered about preserving the patina or anything like that, I want this to be used instead of sold.

    Thanks in advance.

Thought I’d post here rather than start a new thread. I’ve been asked to come back to work from next Monday for 2 weeks in order to pack and ship a large one off order. After the two weeks I’ll be back on furlough.

What concerns me is that I haven’t had anything in writing informing me of my return to work, only a phone call from my manager. Also I don’t think you can just dip in and out of being furloughed according to the demands of the business? Can anyone confirm? Also had 50% of my holiday allowance taken off me even though I’ve only used one day this year, but been on furlough for almost 3 months.

Standard Tabata is good, 20 seconds work, 10 seconds recovery.

The power monitor is also loaded with mini games that can be very challenging, try the fish game.

SkiErg is a great piece of kit and you can do varied workouts on it, shares the same resistance unit and power meter with the C2 rower so you can log all your workouts.

You don’t have to engage the lower body, lots of para athlete use the machine sitting down, really works your arms and back.

Where are you finding one for sale? Concept 2 stuff is like gold dust at the moment.

Lots of politics threads at the moment so I thought I’d post in this one.

I didn’t really follow politics until a few years ago when I started listening to R4 on my commute to and from work. This subsequently led to me taking an interest and even voting for the first time at 27 (shame on me I know) and in the few years I’ve been following events, they seem to be going from bad to worse and seem completely farcical at times. I am simultaneously fascinated and horrified by the way it all works.

So, my question to folks who have been following politics for far longer than me, has it always been like this? Will things pick up again? Will things get worse?

Either way PMQs will be interesting today.

Check out the Vango F10 Helium UL2, can be found within your budget, and weighs about 1.4kg.

Recommended in another thread, Vango F10 Helium UL2. About 1.4lg packed and the Vango stuff sack is great. Lots of room too. Paid about £200 for mine online.

Coleman Coastline series are good quality for the price, we have the 3 man version. Groundsheet for the porch has raised sides all round which is a neat feature.

Speaking from experience, I would just let a mechanic do all of the required work.

I’m sure you are capable, but doing some of the work to save few quid is often a false economy. Don’t know how well equipped you are but you could be shelling out for tools, cleaning stuff etc. Also consider the weather when working on the driveway. Weather is good at the moment but spannering in the rain is no fun.

Impressive bit of kit, uses a Schrader valve to inflate which is a neat solution.

I’ve got a Vango Helium UL2 which is very roomy, you can increase the porch size by pegging the inner back allowing you to cook indoors. It also has doors both sides.

Couple of downsides for me, the sewn in groundsheet does not seem very durable, so I bought the specific footprint for the tent which adds about 200 grams to the packed weight. Still very light at around 1.4kg

It’s also a tunnel style tent rather than freestanding, but this isn’t an issue for me and my intended use.

Not sure of your budget but the UL1 one man version can be had for around £180 and is slightly smaller and the UL2 around £200.

Saw the same thing in the car park at the local nature reserve. Don’t really see anything wrong with it at all.

Finally heard from my work, looks like I might be coming off furlough in the next couple of weeks fingers crossed.

Haven’t used any annual leave this year but my allowance has been reduced to 50%. Can’t grumble though, actually excited at the thought of going back!

I feel very upset after watching the clip. Admittedly it’s a short clip and we don’t know the full situation, but the poor little fella should never have been exposed to that by the police and/or his father.

To people in other parts of the country/world, does starlink appear as a “dotted line” for want of a better term?

I live on the south coast and regularly see these overhead, though very spaced out, bit underwhelmed tbh, maybe once lockdown is over I could view from the South Downs.

@whitestone – Thanks for that really helpful.

I think the main issue at the moment is that if I were to splash out on a more expensive bag, I would ideally like to try it out in the shop, which isn’t an option atm.

Think I am going to ask for walking poles for my birthday and get a sleeping bag nearer the time. Thanks everyone.

Thanks both, spent most of my budget on a Vango Helium tent so hopefully that should offset the weight of the sleeping bag slightly. Will probably go for the cheaper “Berghaus” one and use a liner if necessary. Pack size is smaller too which is a bonus.

If you are doing it with a bar, I seem to remember it should be over the crown of your head. If you’re not balanced in the squat it could be a few reasons, but for your average office worker/cyclist, thoracic flexibility is a big issue, along with hip flexors now allowing you the in the right position.

Thanks for that, I have been doing some mobility drills and have seen some improvement. Can almost squat to parallel with my arms above my head now, I’ll keep working on it.

Training for today consisted of 5 x 5 strict form pullups, 3 mins rest between each set.

Followed by 10 x 8 overhead press with medium/heavy resistance band.

Then down the local field to run 2 x 250m sprints.

I did check and couldn’t find any lockdown related fitness threads so I thought I’d resurrect this one now that the majority of us are stuck at home trying to maintain fitness. It took me a while to adjust to working out at home, but I am now training consistently and really enjoying it.

Mainly doing bodyweight exercises with resistance bands and kettle bell stuff. Bit of running and skipping too. I got an agility ladder for Christmas and what a great piece of kit that has turned out to be be, very versatile.

Couple of questions, when doing pullups, I am feeling a slight pull in my hamstrings and glutes, is this normal?

Also, trying to perform overhead squats with a resistance band but feel very off balance, I don’t think I am able to rotate my shoulders back far enough, any ideas?

    Cheers,

    Nostrils.

After owning a heavy old 17ft Perception Sealion, I have reached the same conclusion as the OP about a smaller capable boat making more sense. Does anyone have any experience of the Venture Islay 12?

Did some farmers walks with 70kg trap bar, knackered now.

Also saw the gym ‘PT’ putting his client through football dribbling drills with an 8kg slam ball, that can’t be good surely?

Have several multitools from Gerber, Leatherman and Victorinox. Nice things to have but I personally don’t find them that useful. Mainly used for opening packaging, although my cheapy Gerber Octane is very useful for fishing.

Well, it’s that time of year again, my uncle works In a charity shop and knowing I do the occasional kit bought home this:

Partly built Airfix 1:12th Bentley “Blower”, quick rummage through the box suggests it’s mainly there. Don’t know if I dare try and finish it, never built a car before.

Got the cylinder head off my Mazda6 earlier:

One of the head bolts was pretty chewed up so I suspect someone has had the head off before.

Upon inspection, my suspicion about a burnt out valve was proven correct:

Should I replace all the valves in the head or just the two exhaust valves in the problematic cylinder? Are new valve springs also required?

Crank position sensor? Have you tried rocking the car in gear backwards and forwards then starting it?
