Specialized wanted £400 off me to replace a damaged (rock strike) front triangle for a Pitch, that was cost apparently but seemed steep to me. They wanted upwards of £200 for a new chainstay for an enduro and refused to entertain a warranty claim on my mates cracked carbon stumpy due to age and an assessment that it was caused by accidental damage. None of these examples are unfair but its not a patch on the tales of free stuff in the examples above

Its a shame that we cant have some sort of rule to stop people who only use this place as a less regulated alternative to fleabay using their first contribution to the forum to publicly rubbish someones business

my 2007 a6 was badly put together and astonishingly expensive to fix. I wouldnt have another that was out of warranty. I get the feeling they are made for the company car / lease market rather than being designed to be economical to run for a long time

Spesh do seem to keep saying that they are longer lower slacker but as far as I can see the geo numbers havent changed much for a few years. Ive got an old 26er enduro and its been great but Im after a whyte g160 if i can ever scrape the cash together

I debated this for ages after my ipod classic broke. In the end i just put a 128gb memory card in a samsung phone (cost about £35). Dragged the files straight over from the itunes area on the computer and its been fine. Sounds good, easy to use and all my tunes always with me. Bluetooth connection to the van as well

I test rode a whyte g160 against the carbon 160 hpa. The cube was twitchy, less fun to ride, felt more like an xc bike. The whyte, although heavier was faster, easier to lean over, just generally more fun.

If the same comparison translates to the smaller bikes I wouldn’t be touching the cube

Rspb are pretty good for binoculars and you know that the profits are going to a good cause. £50 will get you a starter set but if you plan to use them a lot, or in low light it might be worth spending a bit more. If you get down to your nearest reserve you will find them pretty helpful for both a book and optics

Inflating a tyre to 1 billion psi with a compressor to seat the bead. Forgot to let any air out and it exploded in my face about an hour later while I was doing something else on the bike. Still not convinced that my hearing is back to normal

Struggling to find the place on SRAM shifters that the cable goes in. Took the cover off and little cogs and springs fly everywhere. I should have stopped there but I figured I could get it back together again if I just had a working one as a reference….so very very carefully I took the cover off the other shifter….

I got this site suddenly switching to something that looked a bit like play store telling me I had won something. It also mentioned I was a BT customer which might just be a guess but could it also mean the site is hacked?

Just replaced a 37 inch panasonic plasma that was 10 years old. You could spend £350 and get something far far better

Do they do an external cable one? I can only find stealth ones. I could really do with a decent cheap post, had a nightmare with reverbs recently

I spent years telling myself that I wasnt riding the drops in Wharnecliffe because I only had a hardtail. Bought a full sus, headed straight to a decent size drop off and landed neatly on my face. Joined this place later that day hence my user name

I finally bought a tv yesterday after having this dilemma for a while. Having searched lists in argos, john lewis, richer sounds etc I found that a lot of the options weren’t really in stock any way and I ended up with a 4k one as most of the other options weren’t available

His batteries, both fluxient and own brand are superb, they run for twice as long as the rubbish ones that came with my chinese lights. His service and general help is excellent as well.

I went for xtr as all the xt I could find had the gear indicator window which is horrible. The shfting is superb but I think the clamp band is a bit thin and makes the shifter flex a bit under use. If i could find xt or slx with no indicator window I would go with that

The only answer is to stubbornly hang onto stuff to stop them being rewarded for such blatant ****. I was going to buy a new bike 2 years ago until I saw an article about Boost then I decided not to

Currently running a fork with a 20mm axle and 26inch wheels. Makes me laugh that in the time I have had it front hub widths have gone from 110 to 100 and back to 110 again.

I do love my 11 speed though, front mechs never seem to work when I want them to so I am happy to be rid

The world is full of people waiting to blow money on transporters, my mate sold one and someone literally put their foot through the rusty floor and he still had 2 nutters offering money on it stood on his driveway.

Buy it, you are very unlikely to lose money. The mileage isnt necessarily a problem if its been well maintained

that evans 500 thing looks ideal. does it look like it would fit in a joystick mount?

    nosedive

thats what I am thinking, these are all old lights with about 500 lumens, I might be able to get better performance for less money, maybe worth a diy battery fix though. I was going to buy the evans joystick mark 11 for £105 but its not in stock and I could really do with not spending that kind of cash. £10 for an ebay special and a good 18650 from torchy is very tempting
