I’ve done exactly this on the rear of mrs nosedives bike (required because apparently Orange bikes cant measure things for shit). Seemed ok, she is still alive

There are kids as young as 4 or 5 in the kids class of the boxing gym I go to, it seems to be mainly around focus and discipline at that age. I guess it depends on the club and what they are set up for. Other classes I’ve done seem to have 8 or so as a starting age

If you fancy outskirts of Sheffield also look at Crosspool and Sandygate. Right on the edge of the city. Tracks from the door. About 2.5 miles from town.

So update on the giant contact switch. It looks really nice, the overall impression is that its simple but good build quality. The lever isnt a design I would have chosen but its easy to use, light action and better than the reverb one. Post has slight lateral play, maybe more than a reverb but i cant feel it when riding. The option to swap the cable mounting from top to bottom is brilliant. The whole mechanism is in a cartridge and it looks like the rest will be easy to take apart and clean. Post stays put if you happen to lift the bike by the seat. 150 mm is great for getting the post totally out of the way but does leave a lot of cable loop when externally mounted. Very impressed overall, will have to see how it lasts. Im probably going to sell my other reverb to try and fund another one of these for my second bike.

Giant contact switch in 125 and 150 and apparently swappable between internal and external. Just ordered one. Will report back when it arrives if I remember

Just replaced some 3 year old m875 xt with m7000. The new ones are very good and feel better than the xt did even when brand new. I just hope they are reliable

Have whyte just put prices up as well? Im sure the base g160 was £2500 last week. Bikes are going up in price faster than I am saving up to buy one

Interesting. I have a Long vito dualiner. I think it is probably the ideal compromise for a daily driver. I regularly park in multi story car parks and sometimes the barrier is very close, I wouldn’t want a van that is any taller.

Plenty of decent cars out there for a grand. Civic maybe? Nippier and maybe cheaper to fix than a subaru unless you are actually going to need the 4wd regularly

Scum. Sad to say that I think they feel able to act like this because the police have done nothing about it for years

Surely, if you are correct you now hold all the cards, you have all the info that your competitor does and you can use that in your bidding. You could even bid on their ebay items to mess them up if you are feeling ruthless

Im running a 180mm van 36 open bath coil on my enduro. Its a bit of a lump but works so much better than all of the air forks I have tried. Now I want a new Enduro with yellow springs on it thanks to this thread

I think its also about making stuff last. I bought a spesh enduro ex demo 5 years ago for about 1500, still using it and racing it and its an awesome bike. Better than its rider. I must be the last 26er left at some races and most of the other riders have had 3 bikes in the time I had this one.

Of course the 2 shocks, 2 forks, 3 complete drivetrains, 3 dropper posts, 3 pairs of wheels and multiple saddles, bars, pedals I have had over the last 5 years have pushed the cost up a tiny bit..

Im 80kg of talentless enthusiastic rider of a bike with a 180mm fork and my arch ex rims are still trueish and mainly undinted after a year (and that is on a questionable home wheel build as well). I used those middle weight dt spokes (competition maybe?)

Edit: that year of riding inlcuded probably 7 enduro races as well so the rims have been given some hammer

Even if they had one in stock I wouldnt go on a saturday, I would say a minimum of 2 hours to get served and get the thing retrieved from the warehouse

Sillyoldman -For some reason the 2x LBS I use in Sheffield seem incapable of actually ordering me something, I’ve pretty much given up trying

Edit: thanks for the part number though Ive found another couple of options as a result

Thanks oliveracing, wasnt sure if generic ones would work. Ive had bad luck in the past with poor quality generic (4 weeks from BBB roller boys!) so was going to try like for like this time.

If its going to cost me 15-£20 to get some proper m8000 ones though it might be worth another go at something cheaper

PMBA is a great race series, gisburn is sold out though but there is a facebook page where people sell unwanted entries. The bike will be fine, you should have an advantage on any pedally bits

Ive just got a panasonic tv, it had apps for bbc, itv, channel 4 and 5 as well as netflix and youtube. All tv through the internet and all on one remote. If you had no ariel reception at all you would lose some of the nice functionality avialable on the program guide but you certainly wouldnt miss anything

I wonder what bull the magazine reviews will come up with to try and persuade us that 50lb bikes are actually fun to ride downhill while they support the industry in marketing this latest fad.

I have been thinking the same. I am currently running a vito which I love but its very high mileage so I dont want to start converting it. I dont really want a transporter but all the parts (pop top roofs etc) seem to be designed for transporters. Any have any links to sites with conversion kits for Fords?

The custom wheel builder on crc seems good value for hope pro 4 / stans builds (never used them like so dont know about the quality). I would definitely be looking at something on pro 4 hubs if I was in the market for wheels now

Straight pull spokes spin around when tensioning meaning each one has to be held clamped with something during a build or when replacing a spoke. A right royal pain. Its a case of a design solution for a non existent problem

Maybe he had a similar one stolen off him and thought he was nicking his bike back, did a couple of miles, realised his error then took it back
