I lived in Leicester for 20 years and there is only one realistic option. Move

everyone has an opinion! someone will mention inconsiderate dog walkers with those magic extending leads in a minute….

as you say. swings and roundabouts. Have you ridden the 'improvements' over cutgate? I was sceptical about that but I've warmed to it over time, seems to flow a bit better.

now now. you will only get upset when someone flattens rover with a 40 pound downhill bike

how come at some point dog owners always end up saying 'my dog would never….'. If your dog gets freaked by a faster rider passing you can't say for definite how it's going to react, one day it will do something stupid and cost someone their teeth

uplink – does sound familiar. It's why I don't ride on footpaths

plenty of the FC trails say bikes only at the start of the trails though, access rights maybe but surely common sense dictates. Mountain bike trail. clues in the title

seems a shame when the track is dedicated to biking to have dogs getting in peoples way. Its not as if there is a lack of bridleway. Also seems like inviting an accident to me. Can't say I would react favourably if a dog stuffed up my ride after I had spent 2 hours in the car to find some bike only trail

I have to say I'm with Duncan. There is no way someone will work on that trail and leave the succession of large pointy off camber rocks as they are, they will be too worried about being sued. Paths into redmires, along burbage etc have all ben 'improved' over the last year and its getting to the point that the only truly challenging riding in the area is in Wharncliffe.

    vote to leave it alone

I like the sound of that, maybe being S**te at both disciplines somehow won't matter and I will prove I'm a genius all rounder

whats the level of competitiveness? Do you think it would be OK to basically turn up for a laugh or is actually being competent a pre-requisite?

I had the same problem on the same part and solved the same way, with a drill. As you say, once the heads off and the tension is released the remaining bolt is easy to turn. I just pushed on the remaining burred bolt with a little screwdriver until it came out.

since then I've binned my old, knacked allen keys that were rounding the bolts off ! and bought a torque wrench to I'm not struggling with over tightened bolts

OK, it might not stuff you. But imagine how stupid you would feel if it did

I have one on a pitch. seems great but it's my first FS bike so probably not the best person to ask. I like it because its simple to adjust while riding, pro-pedal is either on or off and you don't have to mess about with lots of options.

Ive had varying results on D521 with rim strips

the thin exception higroller 2.1s were shredded within about 3 weeks but the thicker HR 2.35s have been glued to the front with no issues for a year now with rides in dark peak and even wharncliffe. I went for a dual ply for the back of the hardtail though just to give a bit of extra security

I found the same problem with Maxxis. I ran some Geax Dhea for a year with no problems (well, no problems aside from no grip on wet rocks). Now I have Bonty Big Earl, they seem pretty tough. I even ripped them off the rim with sideways landing but the tyre wasn't damaged

after being stranded a few times by rubbish chain tools I now carry a decent size chain tool, and a very small Lezyne multi-tool just to cover 4,5mm allen keys and a torx 25 for rotor bolts. Overall weight is the same as bigger tools but I have a chain tool that actually works

it's a long ride from either on a massive downhill bike though….

I'm 6', 34" inside leg. i tried both sizes endlessly but finally decided on a large. It is a big bike and I couldn't get the front wheel up well until I went down to a 40mm stem but it fits well now I have done that.

Definitely try before you buy though

just upgraded a Juicy 3 to elixir Rs, superb, great power, modulation, easy to set up and easy to replace pads. Merlin are doing a deal on a pair I think or around £95 per end from CRC

I use tavern service station, crosspool.

They are OK if you are nearby and on the south side

    Manchester Road
    Sheffield, S10 5PL

Seem reasonable for service and MOTs but I did find that they got stuck with diagnosing some problems with warning lights on my skoda recently. They don't try and fix stuff that isn't broken though so I think relatively honest.

not a glowing reference but OK overall if you are near!

good point above from Pook, I had been moaning recently about my diesel and then actually read the manual to find I should have been letting the glowplug lights go out before ignition!

+ 1 for the shimano if you can find them. I'm on my 3rd winter of warm dry feet with mine

they worked fine for me. I found the whole thing a faff until I invested in a cheap small compressor though. There are other ways to get them to seat but it's much easier with a compressor. I got one for about £55 from screwfix, will probably pay for itself with canisters saved fairly quickly

I upgraded from square to aero bars recently. the main advantage is that you can use the whole width of the bar to mount things on, with square bars you are limited by the foot that attaches to the car as you have to clamp around the bar.

I can get 4 carriers on the aero bar but I could only get 3 on the square bars
