I did similar last year for the first time with ben jones mtb adventures. Really good riding moving from place to place each day. Highly recommended if you dont mind riding with a group

I deliberately sought out a 2017 version of my bike partly because I wanted a reach around 455mm than 475mm. I know big lads 6foot plus who have bought bikes this year and gone for a medium rather than large. It wouldnt suprise me to see reach figures go back the other way a bit in the next couple of years

It has a non standard fork offset so you might not find it easy to replace the fork and could be stuck with a useless lump of carbon if the fork fails in future.

    So how did I do?

Cool. I want it to be tidy this time. No more albums appearing as 20 different albums because each track has a different artist. Thinking of a synology nas, that pioneer n30 streamer, and some sort of stack of second hand 90s amps

I am interested in this too. Having finally rid myself of hateful apple products I am ready to rip my cds again in decent quality. Has anyone tried dbpoweramp / perfect tunes to rip and library stuff?

Mines done 215,000  on an 08 plate. Condition is more important than mileage but 12.5 k seems a lot for the age. I would prefer to spend the money on a younger van with more miles.

I just set my 11 year olds up as if it was me and didnt tell him the password so he couldnt buy stuff. No way would I tell the machine how old he is otherwise he wouldnt be able to level up my battlefield one stuff for me

Just had it again while reading this. I’m off to pinkbike for a bit. Maybe post a stickie on the top of the forum if you can ever be bothered to sort it out

This website is the worst website I use for this problem and that includes porn sites. The fact that it is far worse than any other site makes me think that there is more that the owners could be doing to prevent it. I am considering sacking it off for good, if the forum wasnt so useful I would have done ages ago

I did. I found it archaic, hierachical, frustrating. In some places there is a nasty bullying culture and some of the old guard are particularly unaccapting of anyone that hasnt spent their whole career in the nhs. I moved back to the private sector after 5 years. I try not to regret things as a rule but I do regret moving to the nhs

Replacement shimano levers come filled with brake fluid with a little sticker over the hole that the hose goes in. Makes it quite easy. I have done this twice and once I didnt even need to bleed the brake

Ive had a 2010 26er for 6 years. Its done about 25 enduro races, many uplifts and plenty of 5 hour odd xc rides. Love it and may well get another. If you enjoy smashing into technical descents I dont really see the point in having less bike, especially given the weight and efficiency of the newer ones (see rutland cycles for bargains but please dont buy the last blue and black carbon elite…)

Standalone DAC and good 2 channel amp should do you. Maybe brand new dac and speakers and a second hand amp to keep the cost down?

Looking back at my year of house renovations I reckon 50% of tradesmen answer the phone, probably 50% actually turn up to look at the job and then maybe only 50% of the ones that turn up provide a quote. Basically turn up, sound like decent person and write a number on a piece of paper and the jobs yours. I can understand the people who ignore me from the off but its the c**** who spend an hour poking round my house sucking their teeth who never end up providing a quote that gets me, who can afford to waste that much time?

Ive had this all year (though found some good people in the end just in case the top bloke who did my extension is reading). Ive learnt to be wary of anyone who answers the phone / turns up on time / can start next week. They usually seem to be really shite or not even doing the work themselves.

Ive read this whole thread. Took me hours. I have only one question, wtf does any of this have to do with poopscoop?

Erm how do you actually buy it? Seems like they forgot to put that on the website

I share your pain. Ive got a mobi which quickly gets passed around at races and emptied leaving bikes that are barely clean. The idea of sticking a hose in a stream / lake / bucket would be brilliant, especially if it was rechargable from a leisure battery

I have been using superstar for years so was a bit gutted when I couldnt get any S5.

I was surprised how reasonable the real shimano ones are though, £7.50 on CRC

my order is in some sort of loop, cancelled, credited, back ordered and charged again 4 times now. And each time it gets quicker….the last time the gap was only an hour.

yep – ordered a tyre, paid for next day delivery. got an email saying it had been cancelled and refunded and in the same mail it also said the tyre is on back order with an estimated delivery time of 2-5 days… except in ‘my accounts’ the new backorder is shown as processed so I can’t cancel it.

Seems like they cancelled my order and opened a new one because they couldn’t meet the next day delivery

Anything I’ve ever attended that Mike and Kev have put on has been very well organised, the best of 4 different series that I’ve raced in.

Tragic, i really feel for everyone involved

It took me about 3 builds to feel I was building a decent wheel but the first 2 were trying to reuse old spokes which was a mistake. Definitely give it a go, its not much cheaper but when a spoke breaks just before a weekend away and you fix it in 20 minutes with the spares you bought you will be glad. The book mentioned above, mid priced jig, spoke driver made by filing the edges off a screwdriver, spokey tool, dish tool made out of old shelf wood is all you need. Sounds intimidating but honestly not. Start with the book

I get this too on phone and tablet. Singletrack seems to be the only site I ever visit that does things like this, might need to reconsider using it

Can anyone suggest a good starting point towards the east of the loop? Main requirements are somewhere easy to find the loop from a car park that is open around dawn. Some amenities would be handy as well but mainly Im looking for somewhere easy to drive to that I can just fall onto the trail and get my legs spinning without too much hassle

I seem to remember it having a weird I beam rear triangle, an engineer friend of mine spent some time explaining how that was both laterally flexy and really heavy. The guy from the shop did say that some people loved them though, I guess if you are in the market for a heavy duty bike with that sort of geometry there aren’t many other options

I test rode one, felt like a bike from the 90s. Very heavy and weird upright high bb type geometry. Worst bike I rode that day and I was looking for a winch and descend type bike, tried a hpa160, kona process, whyte g160, the empire felt far away the worst of all of them

I am planning to do this in a couple of weeks, hoping my on one 456 is a decent balance of comfort and efficiency. Is it signposted or do I need to sort out remembering how to navigate?

Sorry just read my comment back and I look a bit of a dick. I love a bongo and they are easy to drive but I still remember nearly tipping one over on the snake pass at relatively moderate speed becuase i had made no allowance for the height / weight of the roof / suspension.

Could be a good little project for someone, I wish something equivalent was still in production
