funny that. I needed a mech hanger. Phoned JE James. They had one. I went down there. They didn’t have it. I ordered one. They phoned me. It was in. I went down there. They didn’t know what I was talking about. I left

new arch are wider than old flows and lighter than old Arch. I’m definitely going to save up some extra pennies for the new version.

I have old Arch, 2.35 is fine, not sure that I would go much wider than that, not regularly anyway. I have some 2.5 minions and I tend to put them on the flow rims

In a way I’m happy to see it stopped. If I wanted to compete for space with fat chavs in motor vehicles I would have a road bike.

then again, once they start banning things it makes me wonder who is next

can anyone be bothered to count how many dog owners have posted a ‘I agree with you if you mean a badly trained dog, but mine is so well trained he won’t take a crap without permission’

get a grip, it’s a wild animal, unless it is on a lead you can’t guarantee it is under control

if you hold the front brake on, push the bike backwards and forwards gently you may be able to feel small ‘clunk’ motion as it rocks. If you do it is either the fork bushings or headset.

forks you should be able to tell using the method flyingmonkeycorps describes above. If it is the headset you should be able to feel it by resting your finger on the upper headset assembly while rocking the bike backwards and forwards, if you can feel movement it needs adjusting (or replacing if it is knacked)

unusual for it to be the front. I had this problem on the back of my bike for ages.

there could be some contamination on the disc. If so it would be really annoying as you may have now comtaminated the pad on new brake you have just put on. Could you try swapping in the disc from the back of your bike and a fresh set of pads and see if that cures it?

Other thoughts – is there any play in the fork? I guess that could start vibrating when you hang on the brakes

what about the brake adaptor – did you swap that as well? If it were cracked or something it could cause vibration

look, there are loads of things that could be improved.

but 2 of the 3 stages that I rode this year were still the most fun I had on my bike (the other stage was coed y) and that nearly killed me.

mainly I just want to see the series go ahead next year, and if I have to pay another £10 and where a full face helmet all day thats fine

they are very good, also very helpful fixing problems (i had a hub crack for example) and they were great at sorting it out. worth the money for the quality and service

shame to hear this. I entered 3 this year and had a great laugh. OK, maybe not so much at Coed Y Brenin but I dont think Steve could be blamed for the weather.

I hope the series keeps going next year

old hubs if you have them. I’m guessing you dont though otherwise you wouldn’t have started the thread.

It’s definitely worth a go if you have Flow rims and new tyres. It’s no magic bullet, and any tyre can get damaged, but for me at 14stone + most punctures were pinch punctures and I dont get those any more which has been well worth it. I get a puncture maybe 3 times a year now, it used to be every week.

what a great event ! I enjoyed it right up to the point a minor slip on stage 4 resulted in a snapped brake lever and a long walk. Well done to the organisers, I had a brilliant weekend and I particularly appreciated seeing some trails that would have been hard to find otherwise

I was broadly sympathetic to this whole idea until I saw the video. Now I want to get a black fred perry t-shirt and a taxi.

I was at Coed Y and at Hamsterly this year. For Coed Y I would have preferred a smaller bike as some of the sections were quite pedally. For Hamsterly my spesh Enduro was perfect.

I saw lots of people on Alpines, looks like fun. Take that. See you there!

same as specilized 2Bliss, they may be tubeless ready but they are pretty flimsy and easy to tear. Light though. not that that helps when you are at the side of a trail with a flat tyre covered in sealant

    no worries
yes, inflate until they sit nicely on the rim, usually you do get a pop
if they aren’t seating for some reason just be a little careful, I have heard horror stories of stans rims failing at high pressures. If you need to go much past 65 PSI it is probably worth taking them off and trying again rather than going higher.

solution is a nice to have for proper UST, needed for tubeless ready and normaly tyres. In practice though it is handy to have punctures seal so I always put some in whatever the tyre.

If you put a fair bit in (~ 80 ml) then most punctures will seal. I just lay the bike flat so that the hole is at the bottom so the sealant is covering it and empty a CO2 canister in. Unless it is a real gash it seems to sort things out for most pucntures.

good luck! there are various videos around if you cant get them onto the rims

that’s more like it ! cheers.

my little £50 screwfix compressor seems to sort out most inflation problems, worth every penny

I’m having the same problem. for years i used non UST highrollers or minions, they go on, and up OK. But recently I’ve found I am starting to damage them quickly or they get unreliable and burp if I land badly.

So I’ve fitted 2.5 UST minions to the big bike which I thought was a magic solution until I tried to pedal uphill.

What about continental? are they any good?

I think they should do a free replacement service for the levers for people who bought original command posts.

aside from that i like their stuff

I’ve not tried them yet but everywhere I go I meet people who are raving about some specialized one, hillbilly I think. Ive been told they are more predictable when it stops being muddy than a full spikey tyre.

I cant be assed to change tyres all the time though so I wont get a set until I can afford a spare set of wheels

hows things pal? last time I was at fairholmes they were doing hot sarnies, bacon, sausage, that kind of thing. Pretty good too. that was about a year ago so dont hunt me down if things have changed and all you find is a mars bar

I am running tubeless and I’ve had to stop using kevlar beaded minions as I found they kept exploding off the rim with a loud bang every time I did a clumsy landing leaving me sliding down the track on the rims with tyres all wrapped up around the cassette.

As most of my landings are clumsy this was becoming a bit of a problem, the wire bead ones seem fine though

hope it works for you, I couldnt get it to work, maybe not patient enough. all my damaged tyres ended up in the bin

my 3 year old loves her Ridgeback Honey, it’s pink, which was the main thing from her point of view.

The brakes are really good as well, I didn’t realise how important this was until I saw how much my son struggled to build confidence on a bike with crap brakes.

I sold my Pitch for £400 and then I’ve ended up spending more on parts for the new bike that I could just have taken off the Pitch if I had kept it

hopefully the lathes in Barnoldswick are currently spinning with a feehub we can retrofit to pro2 hubs.

and hopefully SRAM already have drawings of X9 11 speed made up

and even then I will struggle to afford it

you can roll the evoc up, and it takes substantially less space, you might get away with having the bike and bag both stuffed into the car but put the bike in the bag at the airport

    nosedive

I think you are going to struggle. When my evoc bike bag is fully loaded i have to have both seats down in the back of an A6 estate to get the bag in. I dont think you will get away with having just one of the seats folded

I got some spares from the birmingham concept store (new lever for a command post). the guy that answered was super helpful and ordered, then posted the part to me all in about 48 hours. Did you try them yet?

I also tried JE James, who huffed and puffed a bit, sounded disinterested and then never got back to me, pretty shoddy as they had sold me the bike

I rode cut gate about 3 weeks ago after a lot of rain. It was fine. It should be really good now after the dry week we had, enjoy!!

I dont recommend riding doctors gate and making a triangle out of it though, the long linking section is a real grind and makes for a long ride, better just to ride cut gate out and back IMO, it makes good riding in both directions
