I think Pipers gate is more dangerous too, it is easy to go too fast on it and get out of shape. Before you really had to try hard to keep a good pace up over the rocks.
It’s certainly been a year of atrocities for Sheffield Rights of Way Department. I’m beginning to think we would be better off without them. To think they use my tax money for this makes me sick. There are bigger potholes in my road then there are in Houndkirk moor right now.
just round the corner from blacka moor. I heard Lenny Hill was even worse, not been there yet since the work. double :-(
I dont think Pipers Gate ever suffered from motor vehicles (not that I ever saw any there any way. It just got muddy and full off rocks, off camber jumpy droppy rocks. but no more.
if you have your seat up your centre of gravity has to move backwards to get lower, it removes weight and grip from the front wheel. It is all so much easier with the seat out of the way.
I love my dropper seatpost. One day I want to change my hardtail for one with a 30.9 seat tube so I can get one on that bike as well.
its a shame hope hoops aren’t available with Arch, thats what i would get. If you go for Crest you can get factory built and save a fair bit of cash (20% off at CRC at the moment)
ok, I admit I am cack handed with a spanner, but i have rounded less bolts since I have had one.
for a bike you need one that takes a 1/4 inch socket and goes down to a minimum of 5nm. I got mine from screwfix but the superstar one looks good value
ive regularly had carbon mountain bikes in mine, and they have been fine despite, in one case, specific advice from the manufacturer not to do it. worth some helitape so the finish isn’t rubbed off though.
i had the same problem. I also took them to a bike shop but at ~ £30 for a rebuild I opted to replace (new pad, new disc, new caliper for £60 it didn’t seem worth trying to fix then).
After a while I realised I was replacing them about every 10 months and they were essentially disposable. Then I replaced them with Shimano and now I am happy.
well done! it’s great to see something so inspirational and great to see you fitting in so much riding in a busy year. It puts me in mind of the sign over the door of a boxing gym I’ve been going to
“If you want to do it you will find a way, if you don’t want to do it you will find an excuse”
I just replace them as I fear getting stuck somewhere cold and wet and not being able to get the valves open
I managed to get a pack of 10 for about £6 last time I bought some. I can’t find them that cheap any more though, cheapest I can find is £10 for a pack of 10
FOD is a great place to start, the uplift is quick and there is nothing on the trails that is too difficult. Start slow, get your eye in and build up speed on successive runs, you’ve got all day after all
