topeak quickclip saddle bag. total time on the bike was 15 minutes before i landed a drop off a bit heavy and the clip broke. still….at least i only wasted £12 on shit bike things this year (though there is still a couple of weeks to go……)

I got a topeak quickclip one this week. the clip snapped 20 mins into the ride when I landed a drop off. I wouldn’t suggest the quickclip thing for mountain bikes

ukge is £60 or similar. keep in mind that ard rock is on tracks that normally cant be ridden. 14 different landowners are involved. seems ok value for money to me

ive just bought a vito with 192,000 on it. it looked better maintained and generally less abused than ones i was test driving with 100,000 on them. i might regret it yet but ive got a bit of money left for garage bills now

the old coil springs occasionally get loose and can damage the ratchet ring. the new design is much better. i think some of the batches of leaf springs were bad. i had one hub thay broke all 4 in.6 months and another that is still on the original ones after about 5 years

over the past 5 years ive had an a6. bought it with 40k on it. its got 80k now. its been expensive. no way i would touch one with that mileage

dont think about the absolute weight. think about it as a % of your bodyweight. 90kg rider and 25lb bike = very light. just get out and ride it and look for lighter parts as things wear out.

are the 4 mo versions still £480 a year to tax?

Geax dhea are terrible tyres. They work particularly badly on rocks

Brilliant. I had never considered one of those….i probably would now
    glad you got a result

Stunning. I bet a set of tyres is closer to 1200 than 700 though. I would want to see everything is perfect beforebuying it though. Anything it needs is going to cost a fortune.

Have you got time to call Chips away (or similar franchise). Price for a snallish scratch is about £120

I get that on android. Annoying. About time there was an app

Reasonably tight. They tend to loosen up a bit when the pads get squashed down

Definitely. Once youve crashed in a full face you will never go back. Doesnt matter if it is only used a few days a year. That just means it will last longer.

+1 for the bargain down o matic

Nice to hear the sheffield branch getting better. I stopped using them a few years ago. Got fed up leaning over the mechanic hatch hoping someone would actually put down their chips and help me

The photos do make it look dreadful. To avoid the queues they should consider seeding. And maybe some timed stages with a transition….

Bum. What about real shimano ones? I might splash out for a set if they have the magic pin

    nosedive

Do uberbike ones come with the pin? Or just pad and springs?

They stand up easier if you rest the back wheel on the floor and hold the bike up by the front. You can get them pretty close together if you put the bars on a slight twist

Superstar have been ok for me. Slight hijack – does anyone know anywhere that sells the alan key pin that comes in the xt brakes? The split pin thing does my head in. It effectively means i cant change the pads mid ride without carrying pliers

What year is the one you are looking at kryton ? As above, great cars but parts can be expensive

Stage 2 was bonkers. What a brilliant event. Well organised, good atmosphere. Top day out

Either of those bikes will do everything in that list. My enduro quite happily does long xc rides. Question is whether you value the extra downhill prowess enough to drag the extra heft around the rest of the time

I think a lwb will be too long for my drive. I see there is mid length vito though. 1600mm behind the rear seats. Looks ideal. Now just need to find one!

I was there last week. MBR was open aside from the final descent (beginning of the end or something?). I had a sneaky walk down it anyway, the amount of trees down was amazing, it looked like a scene from Troll hunter.

anyhow, slightly rambling point is that most of it was open

I might just look for a post 2008 vito dualiner and worry about the rooftent and spinning seats later. Mrs nosedive is on the edge of accepting all this as it is

It was being worked on last time i was there so hard to get a totally accurate sense but from memory it could have been 5 foot. Someone who rides the downhill line will probably know better. Its the one straight off the fire road i am thinking of

I hope there is an alternate line around that massive drop on stage 2!
