Weird, I put my name on the waiting list eons ago for a 16″ bike and I’d forgotten about it until this thread. I have just checked my email and I have an agreement waiting to be signed.

Thanks kayla, I’ll go for an explore one weekend with the boy.

You just make the best of what’s on your doorstep, don’t you?

Absolutely, there’s not much round here so have to make do with what we do have. I like the bridleway past Burdon to the NCR1 path, if I have the kids I turn towards Ryhope, on my own I turn towards Shotton. Makes a change from endlessly going up and down the C2C path to Beamish/Stanley/Consett etc and back.

What’s that coastal path on your route @kayla1? I’ve been down to Shotton on the NCR1 before but I ended up heading inland towards the Raintons and Finchale Priory mainly on road as I had no idea where the footpaths bridleways were

Seems like this has descended into just an offshoot of the EV thread rather than reasons for people who are in the market not buying one in the first place. If you have an EV already this really isn’t the thread for you.

Can’t recommend you anywhere to go but having done this before I always use Pitchup.com or ukcampsite.co.uk when looking for sites.

We found this place (https://www.campingloeildansleretro.fr/) on pitchup, middle of nowhere right next to the river. Walks along it from the campsite and a 10 min ride along quiet roads to the local boulangerie. 45mins drive to Le Mans, if you;re a petrolhead the museum is worth a visit.

Another was this one (https://bois-guillaume.com/en/) which is again in the middle of nowhere. Plenty of facilities, pool etc. Auxerre was 45mins or so away, and also we found this place (https://www.guedelon.fr/en/) which was really interesting.

    * although being STW, e-Berlingo at £31k for 173-mile range is what floats my boat at the moment.

If they could make that range closer to 300 I would have gone for one of these over the Dacia. Coming from a diesel Berlingo with a range of 400-450 miles on a tank the e-Berlingo was never an option. Also, there’s still a few new 1.2 petrol ones about for £7-8k less than the EV with lightly used ones coming in at around £5k below that.

    @darthpunk you’ve probably seen this then? https://space-play.co.uk/products/mini-021-forton-services

I’ve been tempted to get the Trinity Square one quite a few times.

They also do prints. Should you need one for whatever reason.

Yes for reasons 1 & 3 from above. Range wouldn’t have been an issue, I was looking at long range EVs as I tend to do longer trips for work.

What tipped it for me is that I’d have to do about 15-18k work miles a year for it to make sense financially, currently I do around 10k (this was just prior to petrol prices going mental though). The other major issue was access to charging. Quite a few people at work have non-tesla EVs and frequently they get to a charge point only to find it full and they then have to wait 20-30mins before they can even start.

Ended up ordering a Dacia Jogger on a 4 year deal. We need a decent size car, family, bikes etc so a small EV wasn’t even in the equation. I think once that has finished the EV market will have calmed down somewhat and the next car will be electric.

Leeds/Bradford outbound last week was fine for a 5pm flight. The fast track security queue was longer than the normal one. The terminal building is horrible though, it really does need extending and modernisin, gates 9 & 10 are in a portakabin ffs.

Inbound was okay other than a slightly longer than usual wait for bags, but I guess that’s due to the plane being parked at the other end of the airport from the reclaim area. 3am landing so as we left the early morning rush was just starting.

Low fat creme fraiche mixed with horseradish is one I’ve used occasionally. Make a vinaigrette with lime, honey, ginger, oil.

You should qualify that advice with a tape measure 🙂 Mines not outside just now for me to check. You can squeeze a lot in there but I don’t think you’d get 9ft between the tailgate and the windscreen

3 metres/9ft 10in between windscreen and tailgate in a straight line. Passenger seat back can be folded near enough flat and OP would probably not have rear seats in so the board probably wouldn’t be flat anyway. Ours isn’t the LWB one.

Just had a look and there a 12 plate multispace with 36k miles on for £8k, there’s a 14 plate van for £8k which has 95k miles. I know which one I’d be buying.

Another vote for Berlingo/Partner multispace here. Whip the rear seats out and you can get a double airbed in plus whatever else you need. Bikes go in without taking the wheels off. I don’t think your 9ft board would be an issue.

You should be able get a decent one for with low miles for well below your budget which leaves money for beer/C&H.

I think a lot will class a number as inactive if not used in 6 months or so. So you’d need a way for it appear active. Some PAYG contracts class a top up as activity but it still relies on you doing something.

As above Bristan, Ideal Standard etc for brassware and china. Named brands that will have a good aftersales and it won’t be a ballache to get a shower cartridge further down the line.

Furniture – steer clear of K-Vit and anything priced around the same, it’s invariably crap. Be-Modern furniture is good for the money as is Tavistock. It’s all modular so you can tailor it to fit your space. Once past that you get into the realms of very very expensive stuff like Laufen and Duravit.

Baths – depends what you want to spend. Buy cheap and you’ll get a 6mm acrylic encapsulated one. Fine, just don’t drop anything heavy on it. Carronite ones are strong but more expensive. Ideal Standard do something called Idealcast which are quite hefty, and expensive. Look at Kaldewei or Bette for typically well made German steel baths.

Source – used to sell this stuff for a living.

Ordered a Dacia Jogger at the end of March so not long after they had been released. Salesman said it’s going to be 6 months – I haven’t heard a peep since and I suspect I won’t. I’ve only seen one on the road since then.

and you can bet your arse that the lids wont be on properly either

This really grips my shit/grinds my gears/makes me ever so annoyed. It all stems back many years to when we had just got a new bottle of very thick balsamic vinegar, the missus opened it and popped it back in the cupboard with the lid half on. I went to pick it out the next day and just grabbed the lid which resulted in balsamic vinegar and shards of glass all over the floor/cupboards/my feet.

She’s never going to be able to forget that, I won’t let her.

Anyone know of a system to limit usage across both Windows and Android

I don’t think there is anything that combines the two. We limit time on the boys time on tablet and Microsoft. The latter is shared across his PC and Xbox. Still haven’t figured out a way to block bloody Minecraft videos on YouTube though.

Aim for Travelodge/Premier Inn type places. Size of room isn’t important, you’ll hardly be there. Last time we went we managed to find a really nice 2-bed AirBnB about 5 mins from Tower Bridge which was cheaper than any hotel.

There’s a short section on the A19 south near Hartlepool. Annoyingly they have just spent ages/millions upgrading the bit just after it to 3 lanes and fully resurfaced it but for whatever reason they left the 1/4 mile or so before it as concrete.

Chatel was the first place I ever went and it has anice variation of trails – you can get over to Morzine and Les Gets if you fancy it and you can also go over to the Swiss side. Morgins is excellent.

Crikey, I remember going to Oliver’s Mount

Back before digital telly you could always tell when racing was on at the mount as it sent the signal haywire.

Going back to Scoobys – I was at the parents at the weekend and one pulled into their street. I think it may have been a WR1 as it was in that lovely light metallic blue, sounded very tasty.

Had a mini which was called Chuck (C160 HUK). Occasionally I refer to our Berlingo as The Donkey because it’s old, smells, and is a bit of a mess but it still keeps on going.

Living room wall in the house we are in now. Had some 80s fake brick hardboard panelling. Thought it would be easy enough to take that down and just paper the wall. Once the panelling was down it revealed striped blue velvet wallpaper. Started stripping that off and plaster started coming off in lumps. Ended up taking the whole wall back to bare brick and also opened up the old arched fireplace which had been bricked up when the back boiler was put in.

I don’t think there is anything anyone can say or do that would change the mentality of the pro-gun people in the US. Especially when you have elected officials posting bilge like this on their social media.
