I’m with Scotroutes here – I ummed and arred and then did it and haven’t died (yet). Easton Haven bars with old school X-lite barends (had em for ever) on a rigid singlespeed. Don’t overtighten them and all should be fine… Its not big & its not cool but I care not! 8)

Our lass away, rare chance for a slap up Sunday Roast at my friendly local (she doesn’t do Sunday Roast) and some / many ciders! Did an epic singlespeed ride on Friday so feel no guilt about eating and drinking. Here’s to Dunkertons Black Fox… Hick x

I have two of these lights (one on’t seatpost and one on’t helmet) and one of them has developed this issue. Being really organised I can’t remember where or when I bought them so no receipts to return (plus wouldn’t know where!).

I found through frustration that by fairly robustly hitting it on a hard surface a few times it will turn off then it functions absolutely fine. Presently seems better than binning it. Mine didn’t get soaked either FWIW.

Probably not what you wanted to hear but seems to be working so far. Also, much entertainment to be had from getting back from a few ciders and getting your mate to put two of them in strobe mode up to his eyes….

Joking MrsFry?!? One never jokes about curry and squid curry is lush!

Just for you (photo from recipe book, mine wasn’t on the table long enough to photo. Book may not have been penned by the delightful Delia!) 😆

That’s a great write up! Good effort. I’d love a go on one but I don’t think its for me; a lack of snow and decent beaches down ‘ere in Brizzle. Our lass is coming round to the idea of N+1 but a fatty might be too far.

Hope you can come to a decision. Best of luck

    Hi,
Just borrowing my partner’s account as, very reluctantly, I’m having to sell our two tickets for 6 Music at Motion tomorrow night as he’s had to go away short notice and I can’t find anyone who is free to come with me : < booo.
The door open at 4.00 and the bands playing are Róisín Murphy (17:00 – 17:40), Tricky presents Skilled Mechanics (18:40-19:20), Daughter (20:20 – 21:00), Suede (22:00-23:15). It’s going to be ace and I am sad to miss it.
The tickets were £35 each plus a £3.50 booking fee each but I am open to offers.
I’m in South Bristol, Knowle area – just off the Wells Road but could also deliver if need be.
I’ll keep an eye on this thread today so if anyone is interested please message me here.
    Nicky

    OH likes experiences:

Best to date have been early morning champagne hot air balloon flight over her home town in the Cotswolds and falconry experience.

    Both are still raved about.

+1 for Osprey. Well designed with the rigid back, handle and wa-ay easier to open and close than the Camelbak. Plus extra points for the magnetic hose jobbie…

Out riding SW of Bristol on gorgeous day earlier this year and I stumbled across a walled garden housing an epic tearoom / restaurant called The Ethicurean. Fantastic espresso and chocolate cake so immense I can’t even begin to describe it. Gorgeous gardens, sheltered and with lovely views over to the Mendips. Needless to say it now features on quite a few of my rides 😆

These guys seem to have some nice kit.

    Any experiences ?

I’ve had quite a few bit and pieces from them over the past few years. Quick service and, so far, can’t fault them.

Not for tents and the like – I like to see those pitched first.

Poached eggs on Marmite toast, if you’ve not tried it you must!

Why have I not been aware of this until now?!? Can’t wait until I get home to try this. Sadly may be some weeks though.

    salad cream sandwich

Used to have these all the time as a kid 8)

My own weirdly great thing is chicken fajitas with added haggis; at work we get a slap up buffet meal 4 times a day (by all rights I should be somewhere around 20 stone by now) and as I was making my first fajita I thought, “ooh, haggis might work!” The rest is history… 😉

Northernerindevon are you freelance? Pending some R&D trials I am running over winter I may have some interesting hydro survey work coming up in the 2016 season that would be based from shore.

Hi, no I’m not freelance – I work for a large consultancy & am (overall) pretty happy with things currently. If I was freelance I’d have been interested, depending on where abouts shore based would have been. Good luck with it either way. 😀

ah right, what company’s that then? always interested to know what other oceanographic related work may be available in the region!
Partrac. although the devon office isnt mentioned on the website by the looks of it. I know they have at least 4-5 guys based in the SW.

I wondered if this might have been Valeport… I was wrong 🙄

Hydrographic surveyor, work offshore on large ROV survey vessels.

Love it, especially the time off (5 weeks on / 5 weeks off) and the reasonably good pay. Our lass less keen at my being away 5 weeks at a time though.

Oil price is causing concerns though…

For the moment – pretty content.

Awesome bit of kit. Albeit not cheap. Somethings are worth paying for.

    YMMV

Upper Booth campsite – at the bottom of Jacobs ladder, up the head of Edale.

Great views down Edale, short ramble or ride to the pubs in Edale and if your ride ends coming down Jacobs ladder, ideally located.

    Vickypea & edd,

I love the idea of this! Once we have bought our own house I intend to do this. Is a case of simply getting wallpaper paste and getting busy or is it a bit more in depth? My DIY ninja skills are currently low (have been renting too long and have no need to do any!)

    Cheers NiD

I had the dubious pleasure of having to stay in Hartlepool on Sunday evening prior to joining a vessel on Monday and the taxi driver who took me from Durham Teeside Airport was telling me how he was prisoner transfer accredited; basically that he was licensed to take prisoners from prisons to hospitals or inter-prison transfers whereby the police couldn’t be used ie across police force boundaries. He got (so he said…) a police escort of a car in front, a car behind and 3 prison guards in the car with him. He had to remove anything that could identify him (ie company insignia from the car, cover the number plates, remove phone, satnav etc). He was CRB’d to the hilt and the police apparently paid for his car to be remapped (to be honest, it was bloomin’ nippy for a Vectra!) but I still don’t know if I believe that this happens… Apparently there are 4 such accredited drivers in the NE area. Is this an actual ‘thing’? He was very convincing and had some great stories. Seemed to pay well too.

TLDR – Taxi drivers with prisoners get police escorts. Apparently!

Trail_Rat – its ex-military so front speakers aren’t in the dash (always seemed an odd place for them to me!). They are in the headlining.

Cheapish components look like the way to go then and I’ll make sure to get some directional cables and polished fuses 😉

    Cheers.

Literally just finished watching it whilst our lass is away (she recommended it) – its brilliant! Absolutely brilliant. And a properly true story it seems.

Prior to that was Dead Mans Shoes; very different but equally great. Dark. Loved it.

    Next up is Sweet Sixteen….

A night of great British films it would appear.

And very good cider – direct from Olivers in Hereforshire. Very very good cider. Moving onto their Perry now. Good times

    + 1 for ViewRanger.

While its not free, it seems good value & is by far and away my used app. I’m on iOS but imagine that the Android version will be just as fantastic. Their customer support is excellent as well – email queries are answered extremely quickly.

Feeling manly today! Whilst a simple job to replace the coil pack it was, nonetheless, very satisfying to fit the new one (£38), take it for a test drive and then announce that she can cancel the garage appointment she had made as I had fixed it (with a little help from you lot!)

    Ta very much all
