    Same as someone else above. Police officer for years. So lots of times. Not sure if it’s still classed as heroic if you get paid and are regarded as variously, filthy plebs or hideous fascists depending on your own political bent.

    Get a set of X Fusion slants. I love mine. Stiff enough, supple and well priced.

    Well done! Colleague of mine is doing very well on the women’s cage fighting scene in London. The constant training to fight at that level would be waaay too much for me.

    Hey Troutie, are you able to fit a newer LED to a joystick? New baby means I can’t stretch to one of your lovely new helmet mounted lights at the moment.

    In which case it isn’t a pavement wwaswas. It’s a cycle lane ;)

    There is no power to breathalyse a cyclist. I would bet the £50FPN that he started arguing with them when they offered some words of advice. He hasn’t been cautioned. They’ve told him to wind his neck in. There is a significant difference. If he feels its unfair or unlawful then he can ask to go to a magistrates court instead. Or he’s told you a load of nonsense, been acting like a bit of a pissed idiot and has been let off lightly so would therefore end up being treated much more harshly by the person in a wig.

    I thought the hardest bit of the slab at Dalbeattie was getting started over the lip. The rest was just avoiding the drop off the left side if i recall?

    Quite a lot of rubbish being spoken by people who aren’t police officers, only to be expected I suppose. If you want to try it then do it. I’m doing pretty much the most interesting job I could ever think of (specialist unit), I get paid well and I can try all sorts of other things if I get bored. Loads of negatives of course. Shifts, public perception (which is usually incorrect), sometimes having to deal with the worst possible aspects of life and humanity, being undervalued by pretty much everyone. Overall though, I’d do it all again.

    I was worried by 1×10 as I’ve been off the bike a while. I fitted an 11-36 casette and a new 30t RaceFace thick/thin front ring. It’s flipping brilliant and still gives a suitable grinding gear.

    There are two possible options. Attempted criminal damage (I kid you not) or animal cruelty. Either way its illegal.

    I’ve had Avids and they were consistently crap after numerous bleeds. Then the pin which the lever pivots on just dropped out whilst on a downhill run at Innerleithen. One of the scariest things that’s ever happened to me. Current Deore and XT at the moment and they have been brilliant.

    I have the silver version. Its brilliant. Light, stiff, well made and looks great.

    I’ve got Deore and XT. Both are as good as the other, XT just cost more. Deore have adjustable levers, you just use an allen key. I actually think the Deore look better because they don’t have the silly twiddly knob on them.

    Presumably the force required to blow air with sufficient force out of the top of his ideation so that it blocks rain, won’t cause it to shoot downwards towards the floor with such velocity that it smashes to tiny weeny bits? Or am I missing something? The ideator has also obviously never been to Scotland, where all rain travels horizontally at face level.

    Anyone done the obvious?

    IF you can keep your head when all about you
    Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
    If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
    But make allowance for their doubting too;
    If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
    Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
    Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
    And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:
    If you can dream – and not make dreams your master;
    If you can think – and not make thoughts your aim;
    If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
    And treat those two impostors just the same;
    If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
    Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
    Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
    And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

    If you can make one heap of all your winnings
    And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
    And lose, and start again at your beginnings
    And never breathe a word about your loss;
    If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
    To serve your turn long after they are gone,
    And so hold on when there is nothing in you
    Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

    If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
    ‘ Or walk with Kings – nor lose the common touch,
    if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
    If all men count with you, but none too much;
    If you can fill the unforgiving minute
    With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
    Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
    And – which is more – you’ll be a Man, my son!

    Its not that hard to get your head round. It just fills the gap between the straight steerer amd the tapered crown race. Adds a few mm stack but not much. I have a set of 150mm straight steerer forks with the Hope doodah and the normal crown race from my tapered headset on my bike at the mo.

    I might be wrong but doesn’t the Altitude have a crazy steep seat tube angle? Would make the cockpit short and not so great for spinning along. If it was my money it would be the Norco.

    I’ve got a cafetiere, gaggia, senseo, stove top and a nespresso. The nespresso gets used by far the most as its easy and the coffee it produces is really nice. If I had the time at 6am to faff about with the gaggia then I would. But I can’t be arsed because the nespresso is great.
