I’d have bought a Transition Covert if I hadn’t picked up my Remedy for a bargain basement price.

I’ve been told the remap is worth doing. Where did you get it done and did it make much difference to mpg and insurance?

I have to say it drives waaaay better than I thought it would. Have to wait until Feb for delivery but the no VAT deal was too good to pass up.

I was thinking Chamonix would be a good bet as there is loads in town as well. Never done any riding round about though. I’ve been told it’s either super easy or super steep in Cham? Would prefer lift assisted XC with a bit of pansy gnarl downhill thrown in. Portes Du Soleil type stuff.

It’s easy to do it yourself with some decent down cleaner in the bath. It’s drying you need to be careful with. Best to use an industrial laundrette style tumble dryer on the lowest possible heat.

Won't work as a commuter!?!?! I've installed hinges in the middle of the frame so I can fold it up and pretend it's an all-mountain brompton. Goes nicely with my brogues.

I was suprised at the weight as well, but it was done on proper bike shop scales. I was expecting about 30lbs, but everything I have replaced is lighter than the stock parts and the complete bike was supposedly 29lbs beforehand …

I've only been up there once but it is easily my favourite trail centre ride. The variation is superb. The top of that chute at the end of McMoab looks a lot steeper from the top though!

You can tell by putting the number in a website. Try googling magsys online codelook or something similar. If the number has been ported to a new provider it can take a little while to change but it's fairly accurate.

Teej you are thinking of S.4 Road Traffic act, unfit through drink or drugs which relates to mechanically propelled vehicles cars, mopeds, lorries etc. A force medical examiner can give evidence that someone is unfit through drink or drugs in the same way a specially trained police officer can.

Pedal cycles are covered by entirely different legislation because they are powered by your legs. It's a good job the OP didn't get in the way of the van with his horse whilst pissed, because that's against the law as well.

It's very rarely prosecuted because most people are just told to get off and push home. The bike, not the horse.

You don't have to do any tests to give evidence of intoxication.

    Nonsense

Just to clarify there is no power for the police to breathalyse cyclists, however police officers are classed as an "expert witness" as regards drunkeness and can give evidence as to any intoxication, no need to conduct sobriety tests or stick someone on a machine. A full collision report would have been completed as it involved a police vehicle. If you feel that the accident was the fault of the police driver then you are entitled to make a claim against them which would involve going to the small claims court or instructing a solicitor as you wouldn't be going through an insurance company.

Not wanting to give away any tricks of the complaining trade but you can always look at the format of the company email address then establish the name of someone important at the company. If names aren't listed on their website, companies house website is always a good place to start. Then send the boss a slighty more politely worded email attaching the original text. The last time I did this the company concerned went from unhelpful and combative to bending over backwards and extending some of the best customer service I have ever experienced.

Smithfield isn't that great but a stones throw from Shoreditch. Captain Kidd in Wapping is nice but not much else down there.

Friend of mine has one and he seems to like it. Prefers it to the 575 he had previously as far as I can tell. Did Kirroughtree and Glentress on it as well as an uplift day at Innerleithen. I only had a quick blast on it, but it felt great. Big hefty bike though.

I did an uplift day at Innerleithen on a five inch trail bike. The bike was fine, but I ended up in hospital after stupidly coming up short on a double. I'm sure the Orange frame and suspension will be fine, but just pay attention to the tyres and brakes you are using.

I'm not missing the point at all. Which is why I suggested that the police should become better at managing peoples expectations, in addition to working harder to meet peoples needs. As you rightly point out, this is an issue in all areas of public service.

The reason I reacted to your post in the way I did, is because you were clearly suggesting that I wouldn't have dealt with it in the same way if I was dealing with a member of the public. Which is wildy innacurate and personally insulting. I take great pride in the work I do and the help I have provided to many people on innumerable occassions. That's why I get a little wound up when you were referring to me as an individual and suggesting I was part of a corrupt system.

Glenp – police priorities are governed almost entirely by the Home Office and central Government. Although the shift back to a focus on neighbourhood style policing is an effort by senior officers to redress this.

Can I just re-iterate my original point, where I was actually trying to help the OP. Call your nearest police station or the switch board and ask to speak to the duty officer or duty sgt for your area and explain the situation and that you feel you have had substandard service. They can and will make sure it gets sorted.
