i ride a fairly light yeti asr but if you talking about the merida/crc type marathons just ride what you have, plenty folks on big bikes.

me and mrs nonk met on the bike we both live for getting out riding/racing etc.
i tell you this though due to being parents we get out together about three times a year.

it used to happen to me boatman on the front brake.
i realised it was the way i was putting it in the car.the banjo was leaning on something and as i drove it was enough to moove it loose.

i used to be in the hope camp,had most things on my bike hubs,brakes,headset,bb then i noticed other manufacturers stuff started looking nicer getting lighter etc. then i bought a pair of mini pro brakes which just did not stop me (and i am a light bloke) when i tried to sort it i was told that i should have bought a normal mini.great. 🙄
had allways had hope untill then.

one thing they have never done a good job of is headsets.

never lived in a city,no tell a lie i did when i was at newcastle place of learnage.
however what i have allways done is made my mooves around bikes and hills.
the problems you face are the same really..need a job so best find one.
living in north west wales i was a home owner at 21 riding my bike as much as my heart desired and happy,all funded by 17k a year.
