I’ve posted this before but it remains my favourite bike and one I’ll always regret selling.

Avoid Start Rescue. They are dire and as stated above will do all they can to get out of dealing with your breakdown unless you part with more £££.
I personally can’t fault Green Flag via Caravan Club.

But he’d know an approx size and whether it was an XC, DH or all mountain bike wouldn’t he?

I wear German para boots that I got for £30 from the local army surplus store.
They are comfy, waterproof and have lasted 2 years so far without any signs of wear.

    Really impressed with them

We got a 12 month warranty Wise Gold policy with my wife’s car.
To be honest I was sceptical after having no joy with warranty direct in the past.
    However they were pretty good.
Paid out for replacement drop links, air con condenser and something else, all without quibble.
We just took the car to Halfords and they dealt with WW directly.

Insurance is brilliant too as I found out after having a blow out on motorway 2 yrs ago.

Bonfire night hasn’t finished here yet. It could well be Christmas by the time the local Tossers stop competing for the loudest rocket accolade.

We used our local Halfords Autocentre to do the work as they claim direct from Warranty Wise so no outlay for us. Our Autocentre is quite decent but I can’t vouch for all branches obviously.
However Any VAT registered garage can put a claim through but you would have to pay and be reimbursed.
The head honcho at Halfords even commented that as far as warranty companies are concerned, warranty wise approve more work/claims

Warranty wise have been very good for Mrs N’s car. We got the car last December and it came with a 12 moth gold warranty from Warranty wise.
So far had the following done without quibble:
    New drop links
    New air con condenser
    New alternator

I was sceptical after personal experience of another warranty company who were shite. But so fat quite impressed!

Had radio frequency ablation on my great saphenous vein in my left leg 3.5 weeks ago on NHS.
Still tender and bruised. Visible Veins are better but not 100% gone.
Not sure whether to go back for the ones on my right calf yet.
Procedure was a pain free (ish) 40 minutes though. The worst thing was the paper knickers/open back gown I had to wear and the 2 weeks in a support stocking

Tenderness and an infection at the incision site meant about 4 weeks off the bike for me

Aux heater works fine. No smoke from that. Just a puff from exhaust on cold start which immediately stops.
    I’ll check the alternator belt.

    Update…..
I renewed all the glow plugs yesterday for Bosch Duraterm ones.

Started the car this morning and it (as usual) started 1st time.
However the puff if smoke and engine clatter are still there.

    So – what next?

Do we just ignore it as it starts and drives fine? Is it a trait of the PD engine?

I’ll try and get video tomorrow am.

Always fires into life after 1 crank.
    Cloud of white smoke
Rough running for max 5 seconds
Then everything is fine – no smoke and idles fine

So is it best to remove glow plugs when the engine is hot after a run? Don’t want to snap one.
Squirt if wd40 or similar worth trying?

Removed the busbar. Analyser is a unit similar to a multimeter. One croc clip went to battery positive, another to earth, then it has a wand that you touch to the top of the glow plug while its in situ. Display shows 16a then goes green (ok) when glow plug is at temperature.

    Update.

I have checked glow plugs with a glow plug analyser courtesy of a neighbour. They all come up as ok although I did notice a couple took a few seconds longer to get there.

Checked oil and its bang on max and no signs of head gasket failure. As said earlier though, I can’t say if its PD engine specific.

Suppose next step is to drop the oil and change oil and fuel filters?

Car always starts instantly. Just with a cloud if white smoke and the clatter roughness for a few seconds when it’s cold.

not recently – you think it may need topping up?
    I’ll check it tonight.

    Its a clacky agricultural noise.

There are no warning lights on the dash and no loss of power or black smoke.
Glow plug light comes on when ignition is turned on and goes off after a couple of seconds.
Would sticking some Diesel treatment in have any benefit?

Local garage serviced it last so I dont know what oil was used. What is the difference between ford and VW oil?

    Cheers for that Maxtorque

If it is the injectors, Will they suddenly fail if they are left or will the smoking just gradually get worse?

It has been plugged in to a snap-on code reader not a specific VAG one.
The only thing that brought up was something to do with the auxillary heater.

    Im in Bolton.

Oil and water are both fine.
I had thought it may be glow plugs but I’ve been told that they are rarely used unless temp is really low.
Would worn guides be an issue on a relatively low mileage vehicle?
