As OP said motor is a bit of a banger – One could just pull that dent out and t cut – happened to me once and I told the bloke in question ‘no drama’ and to be more careful in future.. Said offender was really appreciative of my chilled approach and thanked me – in the grand scheme of things we all need to be more understanding of one another – One of the few advantages of running old bangers I’d say .. No sense in taking car to an insurance brokers body shop and putting a shiny new panel worth a grand – that’s more than the value of the car … It’s our ‘sue me’ culture that ultimately drives up insurance premiums ..

I’m thinking less steer tube also puts less stress on headset ?

Thanks for insight guys – I’m thinking little point in retaining more than 5 or 10mm leeway on steer tube – I could understand leaving more if I’d just spent loads on some forks and was concerned about resale value but I’ve got rigid steel ones (Cromoto) .. I’ve been also following the Stooge threads and Jonestown recommended 30-35mm spacers for more upright position – but I was also thinking riser bars would work well with steer tube cut right down – especially considering the frameset’s BMX ‘DNA’ ..

Find it a strange phenomenon – Folk buying consumer electronics and then acting like they’ve got shares in that company – why the loyalty? You think they’ve got you back or something?

Whatever you finish it with – basically the more expensive stuff – keep house with a soft brush if durability of finish is a concern.. Ventilation will also help ..

Easy to go to a disappointing gig – been to more bad ones than good and as I get older the logistics behind attendance puts me off more and more .. Having said that when they’ve been great the experience has been long lasting and rewarding .. One needs to go to good one at least once in their lives ..

I’d love to see chrome forks on a candy apple red frame in homage to one of the all-time classic race bmx’s.. The 1984 JMC Darrell Young – it would look beyond amazing !

What about the Kinsey research projects – funded by the Rockefeller institute..? You can’t get much darker than Kinsey and you can’t get more elite than Rockefeller… Just saying …

Samsung have half decent sevice centre advisors if it’s under 24 months old they should repair it – however I’m pretty sure with all the updates implemented these days a ‘smartphone’ has a limited shelf life – My Mrs has an s3 and it’s defo on its last legs despite a new battery and new charger ..You might have to cut your losses and get a different phone .. Sadly it’s the case I feel that a cheapo £10 phone with a physical keyboard is ultimately more reliable …

Head up to Newbold Common Leamington Spa which you can reach via Grand Union Canal (Get on at Tesco Emscote RD Warwick). You can have a burn round the 4x track and then head off round the footpaths around the golf course ..

All the kit folk are strapping to their bikes by the looks of pics doesn’t look that heavy – you could put all that in a back pack with no loss off comfort – unless your perhaps doing over 200 miles .. I’m happy to use a back pack myself – I use a Crux AK 57 which is a climbing pack which shifts weight a bit more onto shoulders which I’ve found comfy up to about 10kg ..

The only way to stay dry in the wet is not to engage in physical activity – if your sweating it’s impossible to stay dry in the rain – softshell will eventually wet out and waterproofs will cease to breathe at some point.. It’s more pragmatic to figure out what’s more comfortable for you when wet than trying and failing to stay dry during exercise ..

Sometimes taking a gamble pays off – I’ve ridden all summer long with not so much as an Allen key – let alone a spare tube – water bottle every time for me.. Golden rule is keeping bike maintained – fresh sealent in tyres and a mobile with plenty of charge . It defo improves the feeling of the ride not being encumbered with tools and a backpack ..

Had a pair of Barro TNT and they were really good – considering how light they were and that I ran them tubeless at a seriously low pressure the sidewalls held up brilliantly.. They seated too easily and stayed inflated with a hand pump without sealent – for a day .. Then I added sealent .. Only cost £40 for the pair – Once my Racing Ralphs are worn out I’ll be going back to them – highly recommended…

Your concerned about bulk and you want a four season synthetic bag – it’s not happening I’m afraid ..
Your best off with an oversize 1 season synthetic bag to manage the damp and layering up inside – down clothing is best to compensate for bulk – Ultimately though one needs to bite the bullet and accept that damp UK winter conditions do require a fairly bulky sleep system if you want a comfortable night’s sleep ..

To all the self-proclaimed guardians of the orthodoxy what motivates you ? What are you getting out of attempting to discredit the growing body of evidence that there is a correlation between institutional child abuse and elements of the hierarchical elite? – Considering the heartbreaking nature of the phenomenon proof would vindicate no one .. It’s pitifully candid that too many people on here have no alternative but to turn the other cheek – I guess it’s all your minerals can accommodate..

Anyone remember ‘The White March’ ?
In 1996 over a quarter of a million Belgians took the streets of Brussels in protest of the Dutroux paedophile scandal .. It would be pretty hard to argue that the state wasn’t complicit in some sort of cover up .. Folk can engage in back and forth mudslinging all day but that won’t make the elephant in the room disappear ..

Most private clinics are too small to have an intensive care unit – so if even a standard operation has complications they ship you to a NHS hospital regardless..

Freedom is everything – if you’ve set up your life to where you can’t walk out of a job your living beyond your means – I live way more frugal than what many would consider acceptable – the flipside is I am debt free and I have my mortgage paid – my house is small and my bike isn’t the best – friends often say – ‘if I were you I’d move up the ladder’ Or maybe I should get of rid of my old car but I like my car because it’s mine not the banks and when I do replace it I’ll be paying cash that I saved … I guess my point is that modern consumerism too often makes us vulnerable due to our outgoings – Thats when we put up with unhappy work environments … Was trying to give said advice to a mate who’s just spent £10.000 on bikes this year bit lives in his girlfriend’s house and has no savings or back up plan – can you really enjoy your toys at the expense of freedom? The only job I’ve walked from was when I had savings to fall back on – we all need to realise that it’s not disposable income – rainy days are going to come ..

The Renthal bars aren’t really that special – if budget is an issue then there are plenty cheaper Aluminium bars available … Trail Buzz shouldn’t be an issue – wider bars should help …

Ah the ‘ol you need some re – pointing speil …
I know a dodgy bricklayer who’ll tell literally everyone they need some – It’s cushy work for a builder.. Then again maybe you do need some .. All I can say is get a couple of quotes on paper and thus establish what definitely needs doing and then outsource the work to someone else – plenty of reputable handymen will take this work on – a tower instead of a full scaffolding job may suffice and defo save money .. Also Scaffolding prices can vary drastically – if a builder isn’t happy with you sourcing scaffolding independently chances are he’s marking up on that.. Assuming you have time always project manage your own property..

American Classic are £20 and mine snapped on day one – I salvaged the cute little anodized red nuts that come with them – then replaced with Stans – so that was £32 spent on valves – beyond excessive 🙁

I like grounds – I like to make fresh coffee in a pan no filter – it’s ready once grounds sink to the bottom of the pan – so there’s always going to be some grounds floating about – that’s optimum IMO ..

I personally think they look rather well proportioned on a 29er …
