When I’m trying to work out the correct length of chain – which I’ve been doing simply by wrapping it around front/rear cogs and mating the links accordingly chain is either too loose or respectively too tight .. I guess it’s not as simple as perhaps I’ve naively assumed to set bb position with EBB running SS – yeah I’m probably doing something wrong but a quick Google on such matters will show similar posts on the issue .

Frame is Stooge – I’d not taken into account gear ratios – I’m running 34/20 and hoped on running the EBB @ 5 o’clock – I’d hoped to be able set chain length @ 3 o’clock and then rotate ebb to a lower bb height and set tension .. I’ve never used a half link and hadn’t reckoned on needing a ‘magic gear’ to run the EBB @ 5/6 o’clock – tips appreciated !

EBB is positioned as far back as possible in order to get correct chain length – and thus move down nearer 3 o’clock to get tension – but chain comes up too short or too long – EBB doesn’t seem to give enough back and forth adjustment ..

If your just starting back up – Dunlop racquets are a good place to start value wise – if you wish to spend more fine get any brand – just make sure you figure out which grip size works best for you – and as already posted don’t opt for too small a racquet head size – although that probably won’t be an issue as these days only a few of the ‘pro level’ ones have small heads (88 – 95 inch sq) – Better off with a 100sq – these are often referred to as ‘Tweener’ racquets .. Personally I wouldnt buy a pre strung racquet either – buy from a sports shop that strings – and take some advice on a good string – which will probably be a multi filament one by Wilson or Babolat .. Proper tennis shoes that support lateral movement are also very important – if you want to work on footwork which you should do unless you don’t care how bad you are ..

Your cheapest decent option would be to look for a roomy 1 season synthetic bag that will accommodate lots of clothing worn inside the bag – ultralight synthetic bags can be found easily within your budget ..

Really rather skewed logic to state that if one finds fault with BBC broadcasting they should try an American network equivalent It’s effectively saying that – Oh well at least it’s not as rubbish as some of the other stuff – Its high time we all started demanding a little more from Journalism and if that ever comes it’s not going to happen via some collectivist mandatory licensing model ..

@GrahamS – It’s true that Andrew Gilligan “broke” the story pertaining the sexed up dossier but I don’t think this was some attempt to hold Blair’s Government or indeed any facet of the British establishment accountable for anything – moreover to position David Kelly as the sole source of information – thus covering the backs of the other corroborative sources and marginalizimg the scepticism towards the claims – That Sadam could launch WMD’s in 45 mins .. It frankly shocks me that folk would and can buy into the BBC’s contrived modus operandi of impartiality.. According to Economist/Journalist Max Keiser of The Keiser Report the BBC has been the only news organization that has ever briefed him prior to interview about what he can’t talk about ..

I’ll never forget watching Newsnight days before the first Invasion of Iraq – Panel of “Military Strategists” pontificating over pragmatic approaches to what was being garnered as unequivocal evidence based on intelligence reports of weapons of mass destruction .. And we’re expected to pay for this ? I promise I’m not trying to sound facetious but it really sums up the state of our country when folk chime in citing how good Wolfhall is – Talk about the demise of the middle class .. BBC is void of journalistic integrity and is awash with bought and paid for shills .. And it’s a totally moot appraisal to suggest that in the event of the BBC loosing it’s Royal Charter that other “worse” Media conglomerates would be the natural replacement.. Collectively the sum total of independent media consumption is rapidly becoming more significant than that of the BBC’s competition ..

BBC is essentially the Ministry for Propaganda – This is not to say it hasn’t made some wonderful stuff over the years but in the bigger picture I see a demise as a good thing ..

    From the Gov.UK website …

“If you’re severely disabled as a result of a vaccination against certain diseases, you could get a one-off tax-free payment of £120,000. This is called a Vaccine Damage Payment.”

Yeah I guess the Government decided to pander to all those pesky deniers right .. ?

Avoid sugar – Thats why diets which are seemingly at opposing ends of the nutritional spectrum achieve similar results – On the one hand The Atkins diet (carb free) and on the other The High fibre approach (low fat) – The lack of processed sugar is the common denominator .. Sugar is crazily addictive – Most of us will get intense cravings in one form or another ..

I did 18 each way – during a 20 months driving ban -I had good days but sometimes it was a nightmare .. If you’ve got the option to drive I’d bet good money your motivation will dwindle – The worst was putting wet clothing back on – And then again the next day – often I’d get home and couldn’t be arsed to dry clothes – It’s also mega time consuming.. Seriously dude wouldn’t bother – sorry to sound defeatist ..

Nothing looks more tragic than a bloke in his 40s trying too hard with his denim – The worst offense being designer indigo with a dress shirt – The best advice my Dad ever gave me is stay away from denim after a certain age .. A cruel paradox I know but the better the jeans the more conspicuously trendy they’ll appear on oldies ..

Every time a cyclist is overtaken by a motor vehicle they’ll invariably be giving them a pretty wide birth – and as the driver coming from the other way that’s a potential accident in the making – Look I’ve spent many days in my life cycling on roads so it would be churlish to advocate not to road cycle – But it’s delusional not to accept that cycling on roads can be hazardous to driver’s … If you want to do it fine but accept the calculated risks – I personally would never bother these days – MTB all day!

Given the rise of Narrowboat tourism – or more over the barge owning fraternity I’ve noticed a lot of folk have rather curious notions of what constitutes their territory – Many barge goers seem not only to deck out the tow paths adjacent to their mooring with BBQ’s and washing lines but gazebos! One couple looked really irritate that I had the audacity to pass through their gazebo … Crazy life on the tow path !

Last Summer a buddy and I did a two day bivvy trundle commencing from Leamington Spa to Oxford – one particular section – heading out of Banbury was so overgrown with reeds , summer foliage and various butterflies and dragonflies etc that we had to stop and brew up another coffee and ponder just how wonderful English countryside can be – I felt as if I was in some wonderland. Often canals intersect areas of our countryside that are less built up than the other other local trails we ride – Very chuffed I didn’t fall in on as the beer stops did mount up that weekend!

if you ride for fun and not competition SS for me atleast is neither here or there – I ride exclusively SS it works well – just as gears do – That’s how I like my bike to be but I’m ambivalent to how others wish to set up theirs .. If a hill is too steep and I’m walking most times my geared friends are spinning at the same pace ..

Honestly the leverage gained via leaving more length on the stumps would only really help if the roots are relatively easy to remove – thus I doubt that would make a great deal of difference to how arduous the job in hand is .. Pure elbow grease and a selection of tools – Sharp axe , lump hammer and a wedge , big spade , little spade – just make sure you dig the surrounding soil out from around the roots before you go in on the buggers – Took me two days to take one out – then again getting a team in to stump grind isn’t cheap – would bother trying yourself if you’ve never used one as they’re quite viscous bits of kit – I believe the newer ones are remote control – which may be an indicator of the need to stand well back !

You wouldn’t walk through a muddy field and not expect mud on your boots – why would one expert to exercise and not have perspiration on their clothing ? “Breathable” is relative – if one thinks their going to be 100% dry after a work out their drinking way too much marketing Kool Aid ..
