Unfortunately I live 3 hours from Monmouth so I cant be of much use today. Get out there and look guys – Rewards will be offered.

Bruce, Tony does go to Scotland occasionally to ride etc, so you might be able to catch him when he’s up there, otherwise you’d obviously have to pay for his travel expenses for a specific visit to coach you.
Most people go to him as he has a custom built coaching venue. I think he’s had people fly down for coaching though, not sure, but I think he had them picked up at Luton or Stansted. Again you’d have to ask him.

Personally I think she’ll get at least as much as you do out of it. He has a knack of being able to coach people with vastly different levels of ability. He’s a mate of mine, so when he was first setting up I did some of his courses at Woburn with him. We had loads of different people on the ‘public’ type days. My Mrs is going to be doing a course soon, she’s an absolute beginner, and I want her to get the best possible foundation.

Although I’ve not ridden it nearly enough this year. Hopefully next year will be different

As for feeling that you’d be held back by the level of the other riders on a public day, it’s not geared like that, whilst its ‘public’ Tony pushes each rider beyond their individual comfort zones. Everyone leaves having progressed.

Herts is a member only venue 5LAB, you’d have to check with Tony but its a tricky one. Been riding there for 5 years now, only ever invited one friend to ride. He fell off within 5 minutes, he was ok, he managed to break the fall with his face. We have serious ‘Issues’ with insurance etc hence the members only deal. Riders are invited on Tony’s judgement.
Pretty unlikely that you’d get an invite if he doesn’t know you. As ThePrawn says, get on a course and the chances are you’ll get a chance to ride it if you’re up to it.

Ah, only just found this. I suppose I’m biased as I ride with Tony regularly and he’s been coaching all of us for years. He’s awesome at what he does. I thought I was a pretty tasty rider before I met Tony (over 4 years ago now)I went out on a xc ride with him and he blew my doors off going downhill on a Ti hardtail, I was riding a santa cruz bullit, I couldn’t keep up…

Finale Freeride are the people to go with in Northern Italy.
    http://www.finalefreeride.com/
Fantastic bunch of riders that run the place. Mark the head guide is English and a proper fast Dher but loves all kinds of riding. The Italian xc race whippets who work there are hilarious as well and will completely blow your doors off uphill or down in full lycra and 120mm travel xc bikes.
Really cant recommend them highly enough.
Been 3 years running now, usually just for a long weekend on my own. Just book your seat on the bus and rock up. Always a great bunch of like minded riders on the bus.
And the trails are pretty sweet to:

V2’s for the win. Awesome power, fantastic modulation. Makes tight DH switchbacks in Cham and Finale an absolute joy.

As one of Tony’s mates I know a bit more about what goes on behind the scenes, and we’ve had bike companies falling over themselves to give him stuff. He’s now coaching some higher level xc race people and some of his younger riders who he’s been coaching for years are now getting hooked up with pro-sponsorship contracts. None of which Tony would ever make a big deal about because he’s not that kind of bloke.

I might add that a big (and I mean really big) US bike company wanted to put Tony on a bike deal last year, and he turned them down as he didn’t think it was a good fit. Tony isn’t a pro in Flow’s terms because he doesn’t want to be.

Mister T – It was a G4 challenge vehicle, left hand drive. No idea why they used a Sport and not a regular. Pretty nice bit of kit, owner didn’t seem to give a toss about it getting totally covered in Sh*t during the shoot.

Will probably get blasted on here, but went to Norfolk for a photoshoot a few weeks ago and was driven around in a fully off-road prepared Range Rover Sport – raised suspension, Cooper STT tires. Was amazing, and according to the guy driving, is extremely under-rated especially as they’re always seen on massive 20inch wheels etc.
Still not as good as a G-wagen though. I have a 1989 280GE that I’m currently restoring and putting right. Amazing bit of kit. Parts are a F*ckin nightmare though…

I have a similar conundrum. I recently started doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and one of the guys in the class has the worst breath. Like literally proper halitosis. So a great portion of the 2 hour class is spent sparring and grappling etc. The other day it was so bad that I almost puked… How do you say ‘dude your breath is so bad it makes me want to puke!’ without:
    A) hurting his feelings.
    B) getting smashed into the mat next time you spar.

Ok so most of the brands you mentioned: Boss, Chanel, Armani etc are what would be defined as fashion watches. Personally I don’t think they have the same clout as an IWC, Omega, Panerai, Bell & Ross etc.
As such, I wouldn’t buy one as your essentially paying over the odds for a relatively simple cheap watch mechanism with the word Chanel (or whatever) written on it.
If you’ve got the money to do it then by all means by a proper watch from a respected watch manufacturer. There definitely over priced trinkets, but if you buy wisely then it’ll last forever. I have an Omega my parents bought me for my 21st that looks as good now as it did when I got it 13 years ago… Its been worn everyday, been all over the world and I’ve come to rely on it.

well if you're riding is 'freeriding/northshore/big drops' then I'm surprised you dont already know the answer to your question. Most of the people I ride with use the Various Fox coils. The Fox tends to be an advantage over the ever so plush Marz offering because it offers excellent platform damping. That and the fact that every Rocco I've seen ridden at Herts has exploded at some point.
