I'll keep a look out for it Quirrle as i'll probably be in the woods one night this week for a quick blast.

I might be up for an evening ride this week at Thrunton as well toons, what night you planning on going this week?

There is much, much more than the red run to chopwell. You've just got to know where to look. Some really nice flowing singletrack as well as a good few steep and tight DH runs. Totally disagree about the rubbish comments toons! Maybe it's not a place for an all mountain rig but it's great on a HT. Totally agree though that Thrunton is a different beast, lots of good quality singletrack up there and a couple of great DH tracks. Chopwell ain't rubbish though, it's all about what you put in and take from it. Some it is down at the moment though as the FC are in felling.

Quirrle, no races are held at Chopwell, any tape you have found is not from a race.

Last gig, Midlake in Liverpool on monday night, excellent live band.

Next, Oceansize (another great live band) in Newcastle in september although i suspect i'll go to another gig before this as september is some way off.

Bloody hell, that's a big ride, done all the bits myself but not in one go. Top effort. Good pics as well.

MMA weren't happy with the pre-production models so they decided not to distribute them this year. Put them back til the 2011 models are ready hence the sept availabilty.

Nice kit, got shorts, tops, gloves by them, sometimes the build quality not the best though. Got some Royal gloves and they've been great, thumb has popped through now after a years use. Recommended.

Found the ashima SOS pads to be very good, loads of bite and good life span, not particularly cheap though.

I run mine with coil u turn pikes, don't really care if it's considered wrong as the bike is so much fun. Seems to handle best at 120mm but sometimes wind them right out for steep stuff. Agreed that it climbs best at 95/100mm but 120mm seems to be a good compromise.

Great bikes. My Nomad never gets a look in the flux is so good for most UK riding.

Send the wheel back to hope, they'll replace the ratchet (£6 for the ratchet). They'll also fit new bearings and pawls/springs (total cost at trade £30).

+1 for the stinger. I have encountered problems fitting them to some bikes with raceface cranks, should be fine with xtr though.

If you want a custom spray job then Kevin Winter in Ferryhill is your man. If you want a powdercoat then Bettablast in Shiremore, Newcastle is the place. Around £30-40 at bettablast. Not sure on Kevin's prices but it'll be more than a powdercoat.

These were both done at bettablast

Pic of my earlier mentioned flux. Definitely not a 4x bike but since the thread seems to be as much about 100mm frames built up for their not intended purpose then i thought it would be rude not to have a pic. Generally used for just ragging around the woods.

Running a 4 bar turner flux with coil pikes, short stem and wide bars, maxxis minion tyres. Not really what was intended for the frame. It's loads of fun but wouldn't call it a 4x bike by any stretch of the imagination.

Re-build the wheel with the rim colour you want and the new hub? Doubt this would be covered under warranty but a good shop would offer a solution that suits.

Had a feeling you were Drac when you picked the bike up (i was chatting to you about Hecklers and stuff). Now i can put a face to the user name.

Enjoy, any problems, just give us a bell.

Go on then, looks a bit different now as it's the other halfs bike these days, has different forks and wheels. This is how it looked when i had it.

Get a guide, simple as. There is some fantastic stuff in Les Arcs but you'll be lucky to find it on your own. La varda is a must!

Chopwell is great for a small wood, to get the best out of it though you need a guide as nothing is sign posted, alternatively you could just follow your nose and get hope to get lucky. Thrunton is excellent but again you need a guide. Hamsterley has some great trails but as with most places the best stuff is off the beaten track. Keilder is poor in my opinion.

Natural stuff like Hexham common, Blanchland moor and Bolts Law are all good.

For the 2 step air to coil conversion you'll need the coil u-turn assembly obviously but you'll also need the Lyrik U-Turn Top-Out Spring Assembly. This goes at the bottom of the stantion inside the stantion. You'll have to remove the circlip and plastic spacer in there on the air set up and pop the top out spring assembly in and replace the circlip. To do this you'll have to remove the lowers and replace any oil you drain. A simple enough job. There is also a plastic sleeve that is supposed to go inside the stantion to stop the spring damaging the insides, but to be honest this isn't really needed unless of course you plan to convert back to air at somepoint.

I find minion faster than a HR on the front, still offers loads of grip and tracks better under hard braking in my opinion. Run mine at about 35psi although would probably run a bit less if running tubeless. The 42a grips brilliantly on wet rock/roots.

Minion 2.35 F front in either 60a or 42a, ardent/advantage 2.25 rear. A happy combo for me. Crossmark 2.25 rear for that extra bit speed if needed.

I run hope floaters with xt brakes with no issues at all. I do use the hope mounts though to accomodate the 183mm rotors. You won't be able to run a 183mm rotor with a 180mm mount. You'll either have to change to a 183mm mount or get your floating rotor cut in 180mm size (ask at you nearest Hope stockist).

Stepped my riding up to 3 times a week for an hour to an hour and a half. Will step it up again next week. Wouldn't say i was fixed but i'm finding riding ok as long as i don't do anything daft.

Been running carbon CX forks for a few years without any problems, did see a pair snap at the steerer base during the 3 peaks race a few years ago though, fella went down very hard. Whether you consider the 3 peaks to be normal CX is another matter.
