Thrunton is great but won’t be riding there til the spring now. The trails need a rest. Will spread the word.

Happy with my Hope stainless BB, still running smooth after 18 month or so. Also happy with my superstar aerozine SKF BB which i picked up for £20 at fort bill, still spinning nice and smooth after many miles.

Shimano last about 9 month for me, so on that basis i will go hope again in the future, plus they come in colours and i’m a tart 🙂

Cove Stiffee owner here. Great bikes, had one, sold it, regretted it, bought another one. The Blue pig and Mmmbop are also great for the money, ride a little different to other bikes but great at technical stuff.

Hope have already had a batch of crest rims and sold out. Iirc next batch was due this week although you may have to wait a few weeks for wheels while hope work through back orders. If you are in the north east the bike place in newcastle is a tech shop if you want coloured hubs. Limited number if white stans rims available as well. We got white flow hope hoops in stock.

Minion DHF 2.35 on front, Ardent 2.25 on the rear works well. Rampage are pretty good as well but go the SC up front

Another vote for advantage or ardent. I run them both as rear tyres on 2 bikes. Prefer the ardent but would be happy to run either. I also pair them with a minion up front. Great combos. Could probably get away with a 2.1 advantage if clearance is an issue as all the advantage tyres come up big for their stated size. 2.4's are Huuuuge!

+1 for the minion on the front. 42a if lots of wet rocks and roots otherwise 60a is fine.

I know of at least 2 from the north east that have entered but won't be doing it, one a regular on here.

We've got a shop demo LT2 carbon. Rides very well indeed. Pretty much the same as the alu version but stiffer, lighter and zippier. Also more expensive by quite a bit. Only you can decide if the premium for carbon is worth the extra money.

So far after about 10 months use and demo there have been no problems at all with the frame other than the usual bush replacement and bearing greasing.

Jungle are very good to deal with as well.

I've found the Humvee shorts to have quite a short lifespan (stitching goes pretty quickly), to be expected really though (what do you expect when you get 2 pairs of shorts for £45). On the other hand i've found the Zyme shorts to be very durable and i've also got 3 pairs of MT500 shorts that are still going strong (2 of the pairs over 10 years old!).

    This according to wiki

Children should be kept away from Giant Hogweed. Protective clothing, including eye protection, should be worn when handling or digging it. If skin is exposed, the affected area should be washed thoroughly with soap and water and the exposed skin protected from the sun for several days.

Another vote for time pedals here. Knee friendly, bomb proof, mud friendly pedals.

Between those 2 the P7 is a better 'general xc' bike. Pig definitely happiest going up steep and down steep.

Weewillywinky selling a Genesis Alpitude frame in the classifieds, nice bike that makes a great xc/longer travel hardtail.

I run a nomad with a coil shock (dhx5). Spring weight at moment is 450, bike rides fine both up and down although i suspect it would perform better with a 400 (well on the downs anyway). Body weight is 13 stone.

See if you can pick up a couple of cheap steel springs at different weights and experiment.

Yup only for 1 1/8th forks. Works with 1.5 or tapered head tubes though.

Mavic rims normally have a 2 year warranty. How old are they?

Hairline cracks usually caused by over tensioned spokes. Also what size tyres are you running? Mavic 717 rims not warrantied if you use bigger than a 2.1 tyre for example, not sure what max tyre width is with a 317.

hope all use the same crown race. Not sure if a hope crown race will work with FSA but have found they work pretty well with most cane creek headsets

make sure you get a nice clean and tidy cut as the olives can be a pain to get onto braided hose if you don't. Good cable cutters will do the job.

A mate has the the same frame although it's black built up with similar kit. It's a riot of a bike.

    Nice bike.

You'll probably struggle to get a 105 to work properly with a 11-34.

All shadow mechs are pants in my opinion, they all seem to develop play. Saint not worth the money (they do look nice though ;-))

That would be £50 labour at our place, £20 for cables, ferrules, ends etc. Then parts on top. So £100 ish sounds about right.

Toons on a five! Lol, he'll have been on a 5 but an orange, never 😉

You guys up there thursday night?

Getting them pushed improves the damping of the fork on repeated hits at speed. If you haven't noticed the way pikes or any motion controlled RS forks get out of shape in these conditions then don't bother getting them pushed. On the other hand if you have noticed this then get them pushed. You might loose a wee bit of small bump sensitivity if getting them pushed as well. If you pushing the forks hard, get them pushed, if not then don't.
