Second the Tojiro range. I've got a Tojiro Damascus DP Santoku and a Usuba as well, had them for 3 years, and they hold their edge incredibly well.

IIRC twas about £120 for both.

As for frying pan, I tend to use Le Creuset, but apparently Berndes are far better. Don't believe any of the drivel about celeb chefs using xxxxxx or yyyyyy pans, it's all pish.

That was the first song performed, but there was one played before the curtain went up.

Certainly was mate! as was the blonde chick with 'britney spears' – hot as ****. IIRC your the fella who had a nasty off at the STW Glen Clova weekend? I rode with you for a while that day, I'm the delightfully plump chap on the Cotic!.

Dunno, but he was bloody good, we were there last sat night. Most surprising thing of the night was how the 'killer queen' managed not to have a mammary liberation from that dress!.

    Thanks folks.

My old cindercone is gonna get a new lease of life!. Used it only for commuting for 4 years now, basically zero maintenance, except the odd brake pad etc, so you can imagine the state of it.
Ordered the ss kit from charliethebikemonger, new v brakes and cables and planning to get it ripped down and powder coated! canny wait!. the hubs need a wee bit of TLC, but I reckon this'll be my new night riding bike, as my local trails ain't too hilly, but are muddy as ****.

Just hope my old fitba knee injuries hold up to it!.

Don't just single out the Irish Catholic Church – I'm sure it's happening in every country in the world and all religions

Do you have any evidence of this? No? stop talking shite then, this lot are a disgrace. It doesn't matter what anyone else is doing, it doesn't absolve the CC.

Was christened a Catholic too, so think this disqualifies me anyway

A common misconception which was started by one of the popes (pious?) who forbade catholics from joining on the grounds that the catholic church had no control over the said group.

Of course, if you've seen the news today, you'll realise what happens when the catholic church has control over folk. Arseh0les.

There are 500 drumlanrigs up and down the UK

Utter drivel. Of course everyone has 15+ miles of rooty swoopy singletrack in their local woods.

every so often you get loads of roots which you have to get off and walk over

RobbieG, I don't know where you got your info from re Ae, but I ask you this, how many sections of Dalbeattie have had to be rebuilt? Apply this to Ae and you'll get my drift.

Agree with Hobo, first 2 or 3 times on Ae and I thought it was awesome, not any more. Shame that, I'd love it if they were all built well, and thought out well, but that's just not the case.

In an ideal world, both are very different and both are very good trails.

In the real world, Dalbeattie is always fully open, Ae is very rarely fully open.

Ae seems like a bit of an afterthought, they thought about making it a big long black route (ask Trekster where it was going to go), but ran out of funds/inspiration.

Crank bros mallets. really good pedals, and are still very grippy using trainers, if you get to a trail centre 65 miles away only to discover you haven't packed your spd shoes!.

Not that I have ever done that, mind…….

It's not really a personal choice, you should also think of your family who will be left to wipe your arse when you're a veg.

I'd never drive the car without a seatbelt on or use an angle grinder without goggles etc. I'ts common sense.

I *may* be up for this, I'm a bawhair fitter than the clova ride, so I'd still be murder up hills (and mince down them!). I'll need to get full authorisation from 'er indoors.

Cathkin braes is the commonwealth XC route, not Pollok park. Pollok is alright if you live there, but not worth travelling to, prob ride the three routes all round in about 20 minutes.

I reckon I may be up for it, any ideas on dates?

    Nobeerinthefridge
    Free Member

um…. I don't want to piss on anyone's parade here, but every time I go shopping I mentally run through what I'll have for dinner this week. It's the only way to ensure that a) I have the things I need for dinner and b) I don't end up with a freezer full of useless food. So 'sausages, lamb cutlets, mince for chili (that's 2 nights), pizza for Wednesday when I'm working late' and so on.

If you only 'mentally' run through it in the supermarket, don't you end up eating very similar stuff all the time?.

I tend to spend half an hour planning out what we're having, using our cookbooks, or recipes on the internet for ideas, and usually end up making at least 2 things every week that we ain't had before. I'd say that's more interesting than just walking about the supermarket and ending up with 'chops and mince'?.

I think there is a distinction between having the same thing every night week in week out is very different than planning your meals a week in advance

    Precisely.

Can you 'top up' over and above the £1000? Fancy a Roscoe at 2500, using the cyclescheme, but unsure if I can.
