we got on the ferry and spent the afternon in the oddest pub ever

That'll be the drovers – pub marmite, either love it or hate it. I love it.

Phone NHS24, generally better advice than STW!.

I had it when I was a pup, but still got it again at 33!. It's the worst I've ever felt, The doc reckoned I must have had a relatively mild case when I was young.

IME Cal lotion just dries them out and makes them even itchier. Wife is a nurse and they don't recommend it at the hospital any more.

Funny enough, I've been thinking of heading to this area for a week in september, to tie in with the food festival. Is this a nice area for a family holiday? Good riding?.

    Any advice very welcome.

don't actually swap tyres all that often.

One for us Scots on the forum. Ie – it's generally always muddy and wet. Are you still running those tractor tyres, er sorry, rubber queens, Ian?.

When I walked the WHW, the leg up the side of Loch Lomond was tough going. God knows what it's like wi a bike!. Bar the stretch of singletrack at rowardennan, and possibly Conic hill, I don't think it's worth riding any further south than Inverarnan/Inversnaid.

Oh, and I wouldn't be looking to go too fast, you wanna have time to look up, maybe even stop, and take it all in.

I've often thought that I'd like to ride/push the bike as far as practical up the buachaille etive mhor path, as it'd be a great blast back down.

I've ridden most of it, only bit I haven't is the climb from KLL toward FW. I reckon it would be a good day, Although the devils staircase and the section between Tyndrum ond Orchy can be like sauchiehall street at times.

Ideal, you'll be able to get the train back.

I'm thinking of september sometime. Great info folks, much appreciated. If it's going to be a slog though, I'm thinking I could do the WHW in 2 days, as I've walked it and biked small sections of it on other rides, so know it'd be a good un.

The thing about that is, One of my mates would do the WHW with me, whereas he's not interesed in the SUW.

I think johns maybe had an attack of 'fat forefinger syndrome'! Prob meant 2 days or something, although that would be impressive!.

Top man though John, exactly what I was looking for.

everytime im out riding you will hear one of your mates behind ya saying " i think the hangover is kicking in now" and im at the front thinking, im glad i only had a few last night because i knew i was riding the following day and when im hungover im still half drunk and riding a bike feeling terrible dosent work for me lol appart from that its fine, so if you drink during the week as well as weekends just drink a few if your out the following day and make sure u drink at least 2 pints of water before you go to bed and plenty in the camel back worked a treat for me

Is this the longest single sentence in the history of STW?. :D

Took mine down to Kirroughtree on sunday for some red action. No huge difference to the mk1 (I'm glad to say), the only difference for me is that it seemed to be nimbler, more direct. Purely subjective though, just my opinion.

One thing I really like is the underslung cables on the top tube. Looks great, and I don't need to think about securing the brake hose in the middle any more.

The gussets up front make it look more robust, the whole frame is lovely. Loving it already.

Anybody looking for a mk1 with a cracked rear chainstay? ;-)

A wee smidgin of grease on the shoulder makes it nice and smooth. Had mine for nearly 6 years on the Soul, and I'm a serial seat dropper, no probs.

I'll let you know tomorrow! I had a mk1 for nearly 6 years, till it broke a couple of weeks ago. Mk2 will get it's maiden voyage tomorrow, twice around the red at Kirroughtree. Canny wait.

Left it the full year once and had over 600 quid. Usually empty it twice a year for to help with holiday cash and get 250-300.

rockthreegozy – you're probably right, but if I had more tenners in the bank as opposed to the jeeb jar, then I'd feel inclined to spend it in a magpie-ish shiny seeking way.

I've often thought it'd be brilliant to carry about a wee rubber glove, just in case I see someone leaving a curly one unbagged. quickly cycle up, pick it up with said glove, and whack it into the back of their napper!. Aaaargggghh! imagine how horrible it would be, hair matted with dog sh1t!.

I've only just started ss'ing about 2 months ago. I quite enjoy it on my local rides, as it's sort of rollercoastery, no excessive climbs, all can be blasted up.

I really don't enjoy it on my commute though, as I'm spinning like a madman, and getting nowhere. I'll eventually go to a faster gearing, but I'm not ready for it offroad yet.

Feel like a right divot hammering legs round on the way to work, and doing about 15mph!.

My lumi's are the old 13.2 battery, and it's the standard cans.
