@jamesmio I’ve a load of deadening and insulation left over, you can have it no probs.

I’ve a couple of thule arms from an old rack, need to fashion up a wee fixture to attach them to the hooks that the rear seats mate into.

Superb, looks good!. I just carpeted the ply panels on rear doors. My mate has a caddy and has done the full door right up to the rubber seal, no issues.

A couple of mates tried the exposure one, to not much success, not sure what the issue was, I’ll ask.

Edit – mate said they all had error codes when using them, so binned em.

First time it’s been washed in months, thought I’d take a pic @beefy!

Pretty much the only thing I’ve done that you haven’t is insulate in behind those plastic wheel arch covers in the back, and carpeted them too.

the east side would presumably have been doable 10 years ago I guess….?

I’ve only rode it once, in 2012, I reckon it was gravelled over either later that year, or 2013, and aye, you probably coyld have cleaned it then.

We rode up to stephensons ground, then along and descended to a pub in seathwaite before coming up and over. Was a nice ride.

    Agreed.

I think Tons intention is to ask what big rides with sufficient elevation that can be pedalled the whole way though, which as Golfchick rightly says is a really good idea for a thread.

    @thegeneralist
, I’m assuming she meant from the other side, and down that way.

Dumfries and Galloway, it’s literally polluted with forestry roads.

Rise is 20.26kg, you need to spend a shitload of cash to get it down to the weight that folk on here often quote, 17-18kg, and even at that, not really enjoyable carrying that over the 4 passes.

My rail is 22kg, **** carrying that for any length of time, and I really can’t see that just under 2kg lighter would make a huge difference to be honest.

I agree in part, that’s where of like to see ebikes going, but I’m afraid it’s a long way off.

I know, just saying before others start up, as usual.

It was slightly tongue in cheek Weeksy, but the point stands. Derestricting an ebike takes away the whole point of it for me, and I know all my mates feel the same – cutting out the uplift and as such, more descending. At the levels required to hit 30mph on one of my local climbs, you’d get one descent in.

If you live near Swinley or cannock, then I suppose battering round those beyond the limiter may be your bag.

Let’s not derail this thread though with yet another ebike argument.

Caveat- by doable, I mean no hike a bike style carries, but there’s plenty of paths in the lakes that fit that criteria I reckon. No one wants to carry an ebike over a pass.

Up coledale houses definitely doable, this opens up loads of options, most of which are in the TOTW at top of forum, one option could be off whiteless pike, rannerdale knotts, then back via rigg/sail beck.

Other doable options (happy to be wrong, I will admit to having a poor detail memory on climbs!)

    Keppel cove up helvellyn
    Skiddaw main path*
    Walna scar
    Yoke/Ill bell/nan bield
Langstrath then over FP to Eskdale hause
    Over mungrusdale Common onto Blencathra
    Over Wharnscale from honister

*this is steep and may get hr up too much Tony, my first ebike ride was riding the rhinns of kells, the first climb up coran of portmark is as steep as Skiddaw, my hr was up around 160.

You’d suggested on facebook getting a munro or 2 in this year, which was before your wee hr issue, let’s get some ebike lakes rides done instead mate.

Every chance they won’t see a thing, a lot of people who are lost on a hill, with no actual injuries etc, are talked off said hill via mobile phone.

Better idea is to organise a session with your local team at an accessible local crag or similar for a few hours, then you’ll get members who want to help, not guys who are called away from families or work for no reason really.

I know plenty. The one I rode last weekend cruised at nearly 30mph on the flat according to the Garmin. Out of the 6 regular ebike riders I know, 5 are derestricted. None commute on them.

Mibbe different in the flatlands of the SE.

This is what I don’t get with the “POWERRRR” guys on their eBikes, obsessing over outputs and getting their bikes derestricted… I don’t want to feel like I’m riding a motorbike when I’m riding a mountain bike.

I know dozens of MTB ebikers, none of them do this, as it destroys range, obviously.

The only folk I know who do it are commuters.

Andrew, response from my guy below.

    Hi Greg
Used Scouts in the past when my son was a Scout. Scouts were covered with their own insurance and we made sure there was always a Callout member with them. It does bring an different dimension to our treatment of and as long as common sense approach taken then it’s something I personally support. Team members of the future!

Got a rock awning explorer 3×4.5, it’s bloody solid, the only negative I’d say was that the door zip didn’t last very long, but tbh it doesn’t really get zipped up anyway.

Sure we paid about 250 quid years back, they’re 200 now!.

We use team members as casualties, I’m still a trainee (assessment in march) so don’t know for sure if we could use non team members tbh, but I’d be surprised if you asked to set up a session and were told no tbh.

A mate of mine is a casualty this weekend in the Lomond hills for SARDA, and he’s no affiliation to them at all, so sure it would be possible.

I can ask our training lead if you want, no worries.

    @Franksinatra
    is MRT IIRC.

I reckon chasing a meat replacement ‘focus’ is to be avoided tbh. I’m neither veggie or vegan, but most of our meals are meat free, I tend to just eat things that are nice in their own right, rather than trying to imitate meat. There is also a temptation to have cheesy stuff too when eating veggie stuff, which obviously isn’t ideal all the time.

Made some lovely sweetcorn and edamame pancakes last night, with a side salad and topped with a poached egg and sriracha.

Not a ridge, as it only has a drop on one side, but for sheer mountain view pleasure I love the west to east traverse of Blencathra.

I think that qualifies, in terms of a big view ride, for sure.

This was about the only part of my Arran ridge ride/push/swear that I’d repeat, the Sail an im ridge of Caisteal Abhail, Can either be done as an out and back from North Glen Sannox, or up Glen Rosa onto the Bealach between Cir Mhor and A’chir, then up the ridge in the 2nd image onto Caisteal Abhail
