Josh/jimfrandisco that’s very true, of course you’re correct.

    still found myself welling up

Tell me about it, the older I get the worse I am at funerals, I really struggled to talk to his missus yesterday and I know her well, there was no way I could’ve spoken to his dad, I’d have been in bits.

His 13 year old son is a wee ray of light, hopefully he’ll grow up just like his dad.

Cheers Lowey, great to still see your adventures on faceboak mate, keep em coming.

Went down it, although the mountain festival risk assessment meant we were roped, sadly. I’ll go back and do it N to S sans hardware next time. 😁

    Fantastic 4FM, looks awesome!.

Not been on here for over a year now, specifically popped back on to have a look and see if my thread was still going, glad to see it is. I was over on the usual at the weekend, Arran, pretty much perfect day on A’Chir ridge, amazing place.

Went as part of the Arran Mountain Festival, really wanted a look at it, I’ll go do it unroped next time.

I guess we can’t all have perfect non failing boilers.

Not saying for a minute my boiler can’t fail, that would be silly. Merely that I’ll take those odds, over having an inferior shower.

    Each to their own.

The OP is looking for opinions, they may not always match yours.

If I had two showers I’d have one off the boiler(main shower) and one off the leccy.

If I only had one shower it’d be leccy as even when the boilers down the leccy still works.

When the leccy ain’t working neithers your boiler.

I’ve two mixer showers running off one ideal combi boiler, even with both showers on, they’re better than any leccy shower I’ve ever used.

I’ll take that over having a leccy shower that you have to run about in to get wet, just in case my boiler breaks down!. 🤣

    A what?.

Edit – just googled it, I can imagine the issues those will cause in areas like Cannock, nightmare.

Our local police have been on a bit of a purge against quad bikers, mainly in the galloways, which on the face of it is great, but in reality they don’t really cause much bother locally, they’re not hammering about eroding paths or anything, quite the opposite, they’re more like greenlaners just getting out into the hills.

Nowhere near the issues vanlifers, dirty campers etc are causing on the area.

Accept this is a different thing entirely, just thinking out loud really!

If I was fully renovating a house, I wouldn’t have an electric shower in any room to be honest.

Oh absolutely, we all know it, just an observation that it’s coming a little sooner than we expected.

@molgrips, cheers, I’ll have a look. Only discovered REI on a work trip in Nevada a few years back, I could’ve spent weeks, and an annual salary, in there!.

It’s incredible how much the Aggressor was holding the bike back.

Interesting, I have one of these on the back of the mine, apart from a slight lack of straight line grip on slow speed mud-slick steep climbs, I really can’t fault it.

@maccruiskeen I’ve looked at that track from the back of the cairn table to Wanlockhead many times, but never committed to its undoubtedly disappearing joy! 😬🤣

Supposed to be early this year, you know big Findlay that rides up there? Owns a bit of land up there, he was telling me that day we were cutting new tracks in at Xmas.

Tbh it was supposed to be harvested 4 or 5 years ago, but was delayed due to the presence of trees that had a protection order or something to that effect

@molgrips can you recommend a nice light pair of braces? Preferably not steel grips on them? For hillwalking trousers.

It’s always one of the hardest decisions to make, when to push through a niggle, and when to accept other more than a niggle.

I’d be tempted to push on with yours tbh, as you say, you’ve not really ran before, and just keep an eye on it.

Have you got some nice cushioned shoes? The impact of starting running later in life can be helped massively with decent shoes IME.

Best of luck, as you say, this thread is for everyone. 👌🏻

So why have the IMG option on posts? Does it only work with certains ‘hosts’?

God knows mate, I’m a lowly freeloader these days!

Good stuff Tom, sounds cracking. We were supposed to be staying at the old England in bowness next weekend, but Mrs being a nurse means she’s having to work instead. 😬

Horrible in West of Scotia this morning, sideways freezing rain.

Had a good start to the year, 30 miles, a tough hill walk on Tuesday, and a couple of kettlebell sessions too, so struggled a wee bit this morning.

Good to get back in the groove, entries to my target race open tomorrow, fingers crossed.

    A valid point Al.

I bloody love my aussie grit bib shorts (not calling them baggies, cos they aint), lycra bib from waist up, inners, and outer shorts with a tidy wee phone pocket.

Trouser length versions of those, please.

Yellow plugs are brilliant for fixing cable clips to a brick wall. You can’t just hammer the tack in, so drill out and fit a yellow plug, holds the nail perfectly.

Also, the likes of smoke alarms, small picture frames etc only need a yellow one.

There’s also some half decent cut trails in the woods above Darvel, it’s due to be harvested soon though.

If you wanna get some miles in and not get mingin, it’s fairly easy to get from Newmilns up onto whitelee windfarm.

Also, the river Ayr way is decent all year round, loads of options in and around auchinruive, Annbank, stair and Failford.

Spent a day cutting in a new descent from the mast up on the carricks behind Ayr between Xmas and New year, hopefully get more up there this year as the land owner is cool with it.

The ebike has opened up a lot of it, there’s a few guys at Hunterston that I see on strava SK, opened up a few options that otherwise would be a lot of pushing.

Irish law and around that area frinstance, my favourite is from West Kilbride, up over glentane Hill, descend to road, then up kaim and do kaim hill race route as a descent, all the way down Fairlie Glen, then back up Moor Road to top of kaim again, do the regular kaim game descent, then up cauldron hill and down the lovely grassy ridge to glentane and back to WK.

A couple of hours on the ebike, a mission on the Bronson!.

I’m keen to explore Lochwinnoch/Muirsheil Park, I’ve only ever done a loop up onto misty law many years so, was pretty good, but wet.

Fairlie is good, loads of options but not a huge amount of XC in the traditional sense, if its not going up its going down!.

    Where are you based?.
