We found Spiers House near Pickering decent enough & very convenient for the Moors, Dales & Dalby. If you ask nicely when you book they may let you lock your bikes in their garages too.

IIRC the 770 rings are slightly thicker & won't work on 760.

Did the 12 hr pairs & didn't finish last – with a combined age of 92 we didn't expect much! It was my first event and really enjoyed it, good atmosphere, good crowd and a decent course despite the wet weather run up.

The music tent really did help with the Clif Climb but the strobes & stuff that were going in't dark made life interesting.

    We'll be back next year.

Our tumble dryer has a 'cool' setting which I use without any problems.

    To summarise:

Wash regularly at 40 degrees with a liquid detergent – but ensure all detergent is rinsed out.

    Don't iron

Use proofer, no comments to avoid wash in.

Maybe not, but it shows both Graingers and Nikwax spray-ons and does state:

"Your eVent garment contains a durable water repellant finish (DWR) on the exterior of the fabric that serves as a first barrier to penetration of the fabric by external water. "

Surely if you apply a DWR to the inside of the garment you are waterproofing it must stop sweat passing through?

I was told by an experienced climber never to use a wash-in proofer on eVent or paclite as it 'proofs' the inside of the garment too. This will prevent it from breathing and essentially turn it into a kagoule.

Nikwax & Graingers both do spray on ones.

so when does Elton release a charity song in his honour?

According to the radio this morning he dedicated Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me to him at a charidy ball last night.

Has the man never heard the Please Let Your Son……. gag?!

xt have steel inner and middle rings – the middle is mounted on a carbon or composite of some sort spider to save weight.

    So does the SLX.

I’ve had both & would choose SLX over XT.

    I really hope it’s a one off.

I agree with the comments above. The sentencing is fairly prescriptive in these situations but, if his circumstances are as you say, I am surprised at the outcome.

He clearly did not argue his case or have adequate representation as, in most cases you describe, the courts tend to give a ‘last chance’. They’ll often impose a heavier fine & a suspended ban of at least 12 months to enable someone to remain employed.

As mentioned earlier, there’s no reason not to & IME up to 18 months was far easier than from then on. Be sensible & prepared and you should be fine.

Talk nicely to the airline when you book as they may have some parent/baby friendly seating on the plane.

I was attacked by a Doberman a couple of years ago & still bear the scars – apparently “she doesn’t like bikes or horses” which is probably why it was off the lead on a bridleway. The owner refused to give any information but as I was bleeding quite a bit & had no phone with me there was nowt I could do. Reported it to the Police who took it very seriously & started investigating then, luckily, I saw him/it again getting into a car. Took the reg no, handed it to the Police who traced him and interviewed him at which point he admitted it was him & his dog. The dog is no longer with us (it seems it wasn’t the first time) & the owner was prosecuted for Failing to Control a Dog in a Public Place & ordered to replace my damaged/bloodstained kit.

Since then, I’ve been a tad nervous of snarling dogs & last Sunday, I got cornered by another. Got off & put my bike between me & it’s teeth but all the owner would do was call it & tell me not to worry. It was only when I pulled the seatpost out of my bike & screamed “I’m gonna cave its f**king head in” that the fat, lazy b*st*rd came & dragged it away.

Reported the tosser ’cause if I’d had Jr with me I dread to think what might have happened.

Madison should have the pads & retention stuff in stock (being the UK importer) & can get it delivered to a shop of your choosing.

Pop the seals off ’em, clean & flush ’em through then repack them using Finish Line Ceramic Grease. It’s amazing how much life that stuff can breathe back into old/part worn bearings.

So far I’m impressed with Maxxis Cross Mark 2.1’s (L.U.S.T.) which have coped with everything apart from wet roots in the p***ing rain.

Why not get the ASR SL? Standover’s fine for me @ 29″ inseam & that’s on a medium. The small is a touch lower & a 22.5″ effective top tube should be easily achieved.

And never use a wash-in reproofer, spray it on.

I really don’t think any of the people involved are going to stoop as low as vigilante retribution or similair as speaking to them shows they are normal law abiding chaps like myself.
The only way which this will move on is if everyone clubs together and gives all their info from day 1 regarding the sales, refunds, non postage etc which as I understand is now in motion.
PK-Ripper have emailed you mate let me know what you want to do as having personally received a full refund via cash from a personal visit I still feel somewhat compelled to stay with this and help others that havn’t been so lucky.

The voice of reason speaks & I couldn’t agree more. Time to let those directly affected deal with it properly & those that aren’t let it be.
