Removing the latest fallen tree would help the flow a bit though.

    Explains a lot though doesn't it? ;)

@ Jamie. I know it's not a legal requirement these days but recall that it still is an FDA recommendation and several States still uphold it.

I found running a bit helped shift weight much quicker than biking. I'd not run any distance for years but found the Couch Potato to 5k Programme which got me going. Continuing to build on that as really did make things simple and relatively pain free.

jamie – in a nut shell it's like this: eat sweetners, sweetners trick brain/taste buds into thinking a shit load of sugar is on the way, brain goes arrrghhh must protect blood'n'cells from ensuing increased acidity caused by too much sugar, brain protects body by sticking down a layer of fat around cells.

Interesting. Any studies to back this up? Not having a dig, genuinely curious.

Jamie, if you search you'll find plenty of stuff regarding the negative aspects of sweetners. In the U.S. drinks/products containing saccharin for example carry health warnings in a similar vein to fags & booze over here.

Some have been linked with cancer, some with inducing hunger & many other reactions including that stated by 'hoops earlier.

There was plenty of bad press around when I was working over there but that was 10/12 years ago.

Madison will have some depending on what mech it was. Some Shimano mechs have 'breakaway' bolts intended to snap rather than destroy the mech itself.

Give 'em a call Monday – they really can be quite helpful.

ASR SL is the short travel (4") bike which has been superceded this year by the ASR 5 (5") travel. Both are XC bikes which can be built down o a race weight/spec. The 575 is the All Mountain bike with 5.75" travel.

The ASR SL is a perfectly capable short(er) travel bike with 2 variations – one has an alloy rear and t'other a carbon one. Both will make you ride too fast. :-)

I've run both UST & non-UST on my 819's without a problem & they're still completely straight after 2 years of my ham-fisted approach to mtbing. Not the lightest out there but a decent strength to weight ratio.

Garmin do a cheap(ish) replacement service for non-warranty items don't they?

is that really an aero seatpost on there? eeek!

That' actually part of the frame – you simply cut 'em to size. It can be removed & replaced by a 'normal' seatpost but folk generally don't bother.

Summer '08 we took our (then) 6 year old out of school for 8 days before the officlial start of the summer hols. The school were ok as we were honest but, as a kind of trade-off, we got him to do a short 'project' on his holiday including stuff about the place, the people, its wildlife & history. He got right into it taking a real interest in everything (and more photos than I thought possible). He learnt a lot, his writing/presentation improved & his teacher was so impressed it ended up in a display of pupils work for the next open day. There wasn't that much work involved & it gave him something to do when he was all sun, sea & sand'd out.

There was a similar problem back in the 90's with the Jag XJ R – the throttle position sensors were failing locking them full on & the relationship between this & all the other electronic gubbins meant there was no way of switching off, the gear box could only be manually changed below a certain speed & the brakes would not operate whilst you were 'accellerating'.

Fortunately there weren't that many on the road so it didn't become a major issue (unless you were driving one of course).

Cheap plastic systems – avoid, although most of the problems I find with them is poor installation.

I would personally use a plastic system where pipework is hidden (I use Unipipe, but the joining tool is expensive) and copper for any exposed sections that need to be straight and are readily seen. Saying that Unipipe has aluminuim in it so in cupboards etc it is fine, just wouldn't use it on an exposed drop to a radiator.

That's what we did in our extension & it's proved faultless so far.

It's the same everywhere & some 'sale' prices are laughable – I particularly liked the savings on offer here: LAPTOP[/url]

Yep get a Vauxhall, same car for less money….I wouldn't touch em mind…pretentious poser mobiles bought for the sake of being different!

Of course it is. Much like a Skoda is the same as a VW……..

Saabs are what they are – inoffensive, mid-market cars that do what they're supposed to. How anyone could describe them as 'poser mobiles' is beyond me – that's like saying anyone who buys a non-mainstream bike is a pretentious c0ck too.

I doubt Saab will disappear for good though – someone, somewhere will take it on even if only for the manufacturing technology. I believe the Chinese have already bought the old 9-5 lines, tools etc.

The ASR does tend to creak from the mech hanger – I did the same as Kinger & it stopped.

If it failed it ought to be warrantied but if it was crashed/damaged then their crash replacement policy can help.

Give the guys at Evolution a call – they really are a helpful bunch.

Bonty tyres are designed to be run either with tubes or tubeless with sealant so you'll be fine.

Follow the A2 corridor down towards the coast – generally speaking, the further you get from the M25 the cheaper it becomes. Gravesend, Northfleet, Chatham, Strood etc should be less than 30 mins commute even in rush hour.

I'd avoid the Essex option simply because you'd have the tunnel/bridge to contend with on your commute.

Top half eVent or paclite. I've had the Endura Stealth longs for a couple of years now & think they're the nuts. Warm, waterproof & reasonably breathable too. Worn over any sealskin socks & your feet stay dry too.

FSA regulations for Personal Insurance state that their first/renewal premium offer must be their best. It's intended to stop you, the consumer, being ripped off i.e. if they can reduce it by £200 when challenged then their first offer was not their best.

I had a similar issue a while back but didn't have any scope to move spacers. Changed a 0 degree stem for a 10 degree & problem solved.

Marko, if Quinn 'do a deal' they're in breach of FSA regulations.

Why not take the lower quote from a better insurer?

According to a mate of mine over there this has been a time bomb waiting to go off for years. Healthcare provision in the U.S. has always been put to one side by politicians yet it has been a factor in a few of their economic problems. GM, as an example, had been held to ransom by the union in the 80's & part of the settlement was the provision of health insurance. 20 odd years later, the costs hadve spiralled so far out of control it was a major component in the company filing for bankruptcy protection.

As an aside, he told me that Sarah Palin and a load of her cronies were throwing NHS scare stories into the media, one of which was that Stephen Hawkings would be dead if he were British and had to rely on thye NHS. Apparently he released a statement along the lines of "I am British and if it wasn't for the NHS I would not have survived. This is not my real voice you can hear, but that of a computer." Made me chuckle.

Saw THIS in the classifieds earlier. Reckon it'd be a good start point if you can stretch the budget a bit.
