I drank a 1979 Rioja back in 2010. It had been sitting on my Mum’s shelf since the 80s and she hadn’t quite known what to do with it.

It was perfectly serviceable. Quite nice, actually. Weird, effectively drinking the products of rainwater that had fallen 30something years ago.. 8O

album of the year lists always seem, to me anyways on STW anyways TO ALWAYS FEATURE OLD STUFf

….and/or really wilfully obscure stuff that you wonder whether people really do actually, truly, enjoy listening to.

I’m hoping this thread deal with this… ;-)

    – then you simply need to open the reservoir filler cap/ screw/ whatever and fill to the brim with fluid, and refit.

… literally no idea why bleeding brake systems is actually a thing at all. Unless you are fitting new brakes (and need to purge the caliper, you can)

I made this… it’s been watched 19 times in three weeks (by myself and family members, who I goaded). I’m so freakin’ proud! Jeez – Go Pros are amazing. I’m gonna be a you toob sensation shortly.. (I can feel it)

It’s difficult. There’s a totally binary response to sale ads in the classifieds here. 60% of classifieds posters want either eBay prices, or expect people to way over the odds for stuff. In this case no one responds – and the sellers keep optimistically reposting the same old crap at the same prices for weeks..

90% of the people on here are probably quite tight bastids (myself included! ). Hence, when reasonable stuff is actually priced keenly – a single classified ad can suddenly feel like feeding time for a pack of hyenas. The thing that bugs me then is a sense that some classifieds only forumites probably pick up keenly priced stuff like this – and turn it over on eBay for a profit.. :(

It’s not anything like the good old days (pre-2008 ish), when you had the sense that this forum was a small online community of bikers using the classifieds (or wanted ads) to help out other bikers (and get rid of their unwanted kit in the process).

As to what the OP is actually on about? I haven’t the foggiest. But I thought I’d add my tuppence..

Stand by any busy traffic light controlled junction – and you will see car drivers habitually running red lights on every cycle.

They don’t even pay road tax, etc.

Aldi FTW. Better overall quality and choice of fruit, veg and other stuff overall.

Lidl for seeds, whole foods, dried figs, dates etc., occasional one off deals on electrolyte tabs – and massive net bags of tomatoes.

FWIW I love this kind of Euro shopping, the lack of choice, silly physiologically placed special offers and slick visual merchandise marketing, means that I only ever buy what I need. And the weekly shop gets done in 15 mins, costing £25-30.

    Excellent.

I’ve tried this repair a few times now and can’t really get it to work. Every time the nail varnish simply wears away from the scratch on using the forks. Totally cleaned with alcohol beforehand, left to cure for ages, polished back. Movement of the forks (and mud) causes the repair to wear away.

Not sure what everyone else is doing differently! But can’t get it to stick..

The thing about the Mini interior – is that it’s a Mini interior. It never really feels like any other car and I like that.

Sure, it’s not sensible or ergonomic, but it has a unique charismatic feel. Some odd features perhaps, but it’s as if someone wants you to realise at all times that this car is unique and fun.

A Polo GTI, (ferinstance) will just feel like a sensible runaround shopping car, souped up with a few GTI badges and probably red trim thrown about.

A Mini feels like a Mini. A JCW Mini is like an hysterical ballistic go kart.

Good that you’ve found something that potentially might help vp. One of the things I learnt from CBT was about using distracting thoughts or sensations to move ones thinking away from negative, or ‘unhelpful’, thinking. It might be part of this..

Paying for a ‘P’ might be cheep, but it would also be a vote for the ceaseless tiresome dross that passes for ST ‘content’. I can’t advocate that sorry. It frustrates me that a media channel that could be so good, is actually so bad, because so little regard is apparently given to the quality of its content.

The stuff I use here is user generated. I happily click on a few forum ads from time to time. There’s a sort of smug sanctimonious righteousness to the P subscribers on here at times though, as if no other outlook could ever be valid, other than £1.49 is ‘great value’.

    To the OP’s original question…

My oldest mate from school does just this every time he joins the motorway. From what I can grasp, it derives from his sense of entitlement, powerful German car and complete intolerance of being held up by anyone who isn’t like him.

    Everything you might expect really.

Yep Shimano shoe quality has gone down. I’ve a pair of XC61s that have now lasted only a year before splitting in the upper. Mental.

Not quite sure what to replace them with – as I still love Shimano shoes – it’s the fit, but all this BOA bollux I can’t be doing with. Plus, they’ve totally stopped doing shoes in white now, and MTB shoes MUST be white.

I would’ve thought that nail varnish remover would do a pretty good job of stripping the logos off, without all that faffage with layers of wet ‘n’ dry and silicon polish… Not tried it on tyres, but it is pretty good stuff for melting logos away from most things in about 2 seconds flat usually.

Concussion totally messes with your ability to make rational judgements about anything. It also makes you really confused and irritable/angry. Not good when you are on your own.

I discharged myself from Stockport A&E at 4am after an OTB and drove home to Aberystwyth once with concussion. Got frustrated that I couldn’t remember the way home and drove up and down the A49 at 100 plus, getting more and more frustrated. Got home eventually, somehow. Not quite sure how as I don’t really remember the journey.

Was not really with it for about 3 weeks after that one.

I think of all those… the Kestrel 4000, The Look 695, The Zipp Tri Bike and one of the Litespeeds get my virtual money.
