I knew £600 was too cheap, which is why I didn’t snap his hand off. I have never been clear on the difference between a server and a big PC.

In the short term the system will have around 10 users in three sites, but over time this could grow to as many as 50.

I once sold Martin Brundle a Bike (Marin Indian Fire Trail with Manitou 2’s IIRC).

I didn’t recognise him and when I asked for his name and address for the receipt he loudly stated ‘I am Martin Brundle’ and then got very miffed because I still didn’t know who he was.

There is a fantastic Indian cook book called the three sisters. Everything I have made from that has been really good.

What are you good at and how brave are you. With few qualifications you might not get a traditional job, but you might have the right skills to run your own business. If you don’t then a franchise might give you your own business plus some good support to get up and running.

    Have a look – http://www.franchisedirect.co.uk/

I have always recommended my clients to Andrew Eastwood at Legal4Spain.com he is normally very helpful and reasonably priced.

If he can’t help you directly he will always refer you to someone who can. I know he is in the UK at the moment as I spoke to him this morning, so it might be an opportune moment to speak with him. Use the 0845 number off the website. If you mention that Nick Ash recommended him it would great (to be clear I don’t receive any payment from him or his firm).

It’s fantastic, take your road bike and there are some great rides. Don’t know about off road as I did a weeks touring round the region. Ride the Strade Bianche, it’s fantastic fun.

It might even change your mind about the architecture, culture and wine thing. The Duomo in Sienna is beautiful and the tiny bit of Pisa that holds the leaning tower is good too. Some of the hilltop towns have to be seen to be believed. Go, Explore, Enjoy.

The solicitor will have Professional Indemnity Insurance, so if they have screwed up it will be their insurers paying out. If it is a clear cut case they will be keen to settle and move on, so be sure of what you want from the claim.

The vendors will be more difficult as they are unlikely to have insurance so will be stumping up from there own money – hence they are likely to battle to the last rather than roll over and pay (unless they are cash rich).

See if you have any legal expenses insurance (bank accounts, credit cards, FSB membership, Union Memberships and your Home/ Car Insurance all may have this feature as a bolt on extra – if you have consult another solicitor and set the hares running. Your original solicitor will not like a potential complaint letter from your new solicitor and will have to put their insurers in notice of a potential claim if they have not done so already.

This is not legal advice in any way, it is just what I did when I bought some commercial premises a few years ago and the solicitors screwed up, we received compensation that ran into tens of thousands because of their error. As a warning, even on a relatively straightforward case (the solicitor admitted liability almost immediately)the settlement took over a year. The insurers viewed liability as the first issue and then negotiated over ‘Quantum’ – how much we had lost financially for quite some time.

You should take advice. Not necessarily from a solicitor, there are some really good independent will writers around. I will declare an interest because I am one. Have a look at http://www.tas-network.co.uk to find someone local.

There are a number of issues here, but to take your questions in turn.

    1) No, any life insurance policy should be written with a trust ‘wrapped around’ it. This will mean that the payout from the life insurance goes directly from the insurer to the trust, and as a result never falls into your taxable estate. This will potentially save 40% inheritance tax on the payout. Most life insurers have an off the shelf flexible trust deed that will deal with this. If you need a bespoke trust deed drawn up, expect to pay about £450 plus VAT, but based on what you have said the standard type would probably do the job. Any IFA worth his salt would be able to set the life assurance with flexible trust up for you. For a bespoke trust you would need a specialist lawyer (declares an interest and waves).

    2) The money would be managed by the trustees, they are bound by the Trustee act 2000 which lays down what they can and can’t do. The answer depends on when the money is paid out and how much. At the moment a good option might be to buy a house and rent it out using the rental income to pay for the maintenance, education and benefit of the child. That’s just one option again a suitably qualified IFA would need to be consulted by the trustees at the time (it is one of the requirements of the Trustee Act). You can lay out what you would like to happen in an expression of wishes document, so things like monthly payments to the ex can be dealt with. An expression of wishes document is guidance to the trustees, so not legally binding, but it is normal to have one and in my experience most trustees will work in line with the wishes.

    3) The other option is to let the money from the insurance fall into you estate (by not having a trust attached to it) and then dispose of it according to your Will.

In any case you should have a current and valid Will that deals with your affairs and you should consider making a Lasting Power of Attorney as well.

If you want to know more my e-mail is in my profile.

    Regards
    Nick.

The Brewery Tap is good, close to the station and is the Oakham Ales Brewery. Food is mainly Thai, but they have a reasonable English selection. This place http://clarkespeterborough.co.uk/ gets great reviews for food but not for ambiance – not been myself but friends who have say it is good. There is a new Carluccios on Cathedral Square or the Beehive near Asda http://www.beehivepub.co.uk/ is run by a Michelin starred chef if you want something posh.

Other than that the Cathedral Square area has all the mainstream chain restaurants.

The Data is reasonably sensitive (legal services and financial information of clients), but we already back it up with both Amazon S3 and Mozy.com whaich we are very happy with, so if it’s hackable on Office 365 and Google I guess it is a small extension of a risk we have already been taking for some time with our backups.

You need an independent financial adviser really though as they will take you through all of the options.

If Sky are dirty – then the whole of British Cycling is dirty, the track team, BMX team and Sky have the same management structure. I read recently that Theo Bos gave up the track for one reason, the British were the best funded, so could afford the best equipment, the best facilities, the best sports scientists, trainers, psycologists etc. So there you have it – money talks. Sky are one of the (if not the) best funded teams in the peloton.

Besides that, if they are dirty they must have Balls of Steel given the wall to wall publicity, fly on the wall TV programmes, books, knighthoods and the whole circus that surrounds British Cycling at the moment. If that all came tumbling down it could bring down so much with it, so much more than one man’s fall from grace.
