Nice and light, very low "height" for a 5" fork (bike handles as though a 4") .. very sensitive to bumps.

buuuuut .. if you're over 10st it's gonna twist and snake about like mad … I managed to get one to throw me off a whyte E5 going round a tight switchback at speed !

    Thanks for the wise-words already!

My degree is in Film .. which is something that I have pursued, but the whole media industry is fubar right now. The raf would be a different direction entirely … But I'm a pragmatist at heart, I'm not too concerned about the job, ('aerospace battle manager' is 1st choice) but the salary, lifestyle, and job security are what I'm looking at.

    thanks again guys

I finished uni in 2006 .. did plenty alright with a 2:1 .. My parents paid the fees but my 3k loan all went on my accomodation and then some!

Every penny I had to spend, I earned it working part-time .. if memory serves I did a couple of shifts to earn 70 quid per week .. never felt flush but did just fine .. (and this was canterbury .. so it ain't cheap rent or booze).

over-hyped, over-priced .. nice kit but people have this idea that they are indestructible.. evidently not.

lol, when I took the top off mine yesterday I was mystified as to how I was going to get the old (black coated cable) out and re-wind the new cable in such an ornate way as to make it work… Took someone else to point out for me that I was looking at the spring :S

It is a bit of a bitch, but squishing the front of the cable into a curve helps feed it through.

Trek 1.5 isn't so great value for 2009, sq taper c/s and sora shifters..

Allez's always represent great value, more so if you can find a 2009 model left in your size.

Wilier escape mirage is nice at 799

I am surprised they haven’t recalled those shorts.. it’s the stratos right?

Every pair we had in our shop had the poppers pull straight out, as they’ve downright used the wrong fabric for mounting them in (super thin, stretchy lyrca).

I would take them back, and cite the design flaw… But without the reciept you may have more luck contacting mavic themselves .. they sell direct in the UK now .. no distributor.

Yeah, i know i sound a bit of a nob with the ‘spend dollar on a lid’ comment but I work with and smash these things up all the time. In the past I have always told customers that the $$ only goes towards a lighter helmet with more vents etc. but believe me, some are tougher than others.. I thought the pricer ones would be weaker if anything (less foam?) but was rather surprised to learn the contrary! But this is just my experience, not gospel.

Rusty, a BREW bmx frame went on ebay for £10.50 last month. no one knew what it was!!!

I woulda had it but had just sold my bmx and didn’t have funds to build another 🙁

My silliest purchase would have to be £45 for a TUNE ti seatpost clamp.. oh dear

Ouch. I once cracked a big mofo piss-pot clean in two! didn’t know who or where i was for a few hours!

I see the helmet is one of the cheaper giros.. not wanting to sound snobby but the pricer lids £50+ really do a better job IME. I work in a shop and always take glee in stamping on customer’s old helmets when they get a new one to see how they stand up. Cheaper ones usually shatter into pieces first stomp, but the $$ lids really take a lot of force to break em, and often have a ‘skeleton’ holding them together, so stay largely as one instead of shattering into hundreds of pieces.

Contact madison as giro operate a half price crash replacement policy btw.

Continental top contacts .. very nice tyre, tough, reflective sidewall… and a one year puncture proof guarantee!

The marathons are heavy and armadillos are good, but made much more cheaply than the top contacts
