@alanl this may be a stupid question but can you run period style (either proper cast iron or modern steel column) rads on a heat pump? What about in a 1930s house.

At the bottom of my garden the new owners are going to inherit a lot of building material that may or may not come in handy for them

Having been on the recieving end of that just don’t. It’s a dick move, sort your own rubbish out. By all means ask if they want it but don’t just leave it.

Just drag down, so much quicker than finding a button right up top. No need for a toolbar refresh button. If you really can’t use the drag down to refresh then it’s only one extra click of the three dot menu to get to chrome’s refresh button.

I had the login issue yesterday (chrome android). Cleared site data this morning though did not check it was still broken first. Now logged in.

Is it definitely flat? The glass is very slippery so a slight tilt (e.g. because of the camera protrusion) could allow an item to slide slowly.

Did they ever do a 130mm disc hub? I’d imagine the hun shell is narrower than a 135/142mm hub.

Those hubs require a.3 bolt rotor iirc.

I have had similar when on wheels that have been taped with gorilla tape, but never on rims that haven’t. Gorilla tape is porous isn’t it? See https://www.singletracks.com/mtb-gear/why-gorilla-tape-isnt-ideal-and-other-mtb-tubeless-taping-tips-with-drew-esherick-from-stans-notubes/#:~:text=He%20mentioned%20that%20sealant%20slowly,proper%20tubeless%20tape%20isn’t.

I think my brother had that fire station, those roller shutters were a pain. I had a airport of similar vintage with a white plane, helicopter and green base plates.

I’ve hopefully added a titanic to the collection this week from eBay. Unopened for a fair bit less than retail. I say hopefully as only noticed afterwards it was a relatively new eBay account and the seller messaged yesterday to announce a dispatch delay! Eek.

Noop, recognised it straight away :D. The shape and colours made the answer jump out. Oddly though I’ve not noticed the figure on the actual artwork before, my eye is always drawn to the flames.

That said the question is why can’t someone take the design used successfully by cleated waterproof shoes and put a flat pedal sole on them?

Probably because it would still look like a cleated shoe, therefore uncool and would not sell so well.

Flat pedal shoes are also typically quite a bit wider.

Enter the sport/open cat and just do it for fun rather than trying to win your age cat. As a mid pack rider in both CX and XC I’m only there to make up the numbers, enjoy myself and act a temporary unpredictable moving obstacle to the leaders..

Something very wrong with their forecast model! You think they’re would be some sanity checking on there numbers.

One of our neighbours is having it removed currently. I say removed but in reality that means a whole new roof. The old has been cut out in chunks with what sounds like a chain saw. I think only the major roof joists have remained. The bits in the skip are an interesting mix of wood and foam.

They are not that hard to fit or remove. Like any tyre make sure the bead is in the middle of the rim. With an insert that means using a tyre lever to push the bead under the insert. Do that an it’s easy enough (even on the 33mm CX tyres I did last night with tubolite inserts).

If you want a real bas##rd of a challenge (pun intended) try fitting challenge hand made tubeless CX tyres! The first bead on those is harder than any MTB tyre I’ve ever fitted before and the second is worse. The hand made tyres are fussy when new so very difficult to hold in shape and they the bead on. For these it was critical the bead next to the valve went on last because otherwise there was not enough stretch in the tyre (the valve makes distance longer). Also had to use a tyre key (not lever!) to get the last bit of the bead which I’ve never had to do with MTB tyres with or without inserts.

I’ve never tried Fairbanks, so those that have are far better to judge, but this doesn’t look like the ideal sole for flat pedals

It’s not and does not grip well at all. Fine for pootling but not for anything else. It’s better than say a walking boot that narrows at the instep but only because it is flat there.

better than any cycling shoes i have ever used in 40 years of cycling

You must have used some crappy cycling shoes then as this does not reflect my experience at all.

mated with some good wool socks are warmer than a pair of 45nrth wolvehammers

I’ve not tried any 45nrth shoes but the Bontrager winter (admittedly SPD) boots are warmer than the Fairbanks for me (though they are useless on flats).

On the waterproof sock front knee high ones do a much better job. On a recent trip in Wales that involved several miles of deep water splashes and wide a well above axle river crossing I was the only one wearing knee high socks and the only one with dry feet at the end of the day.

Definitely the green method above. If the tyre sticks to the tape the tape or application is crap.

Having to leave inflated with a tube is also a red flag to me. Should be no need for this, I’ve tried it before and don’t think it gave a better result (with muc-off tape, had the same issue on first tyre change of finding the join coming away).

The Columbia boots are not waterproof, not grippy and the sole is too flexible for MTB IMO. I have a set and they are great for dog walks and watching kids sport when it’s cold but rubbish as an MTB shoe.

Mucoff seems to go on well but leaves a residue. But the joins never seem to stay stuck, even with the extra sticker they provide for that purpose. I’ve been using wtb stuff recently (66m reels form the crc implosion). That seems to go on easily and so far has stayed stuck.

What size do you need £400 frameset here that you could easily build up for under 1k (if you need a 54 or 58). https://kidsracing.co.uk/collections/framesets-build-childs-bike-cyclocross-forks/products/hup-evo-cyclocross-disc-frameset-youth-size?variant=33240540151871

Give your phone hot spot the same name and password as your home WiFi. The laptop can’t tell the difference and will just treat them as one and the same. The only time this will not work is tethering at home as the networks will clash, but then if home WiFi is available you don’t need to tether.

Doing this also means you don’t need to configure any device that you use at home to work with your phone.

Should be years of usage before phone age. Our eldest still uses hers (older version of the Garmin linked above) despite having had a phone since going to secondary. Youngest (8) sets timers for all sorts and uses it for time more than any other clock/display we have.

There are dimples in the door frame to make location of the feet easier iirc. If you have Thule now then you will need a full new set of bars (not just a foot pack) as the estate width bars are not as wide as the hatch version (unless you put the longer ones on for some reason). Found this out the hard way.

Merlin has 105 11 speed mechanical brake for £150, I’d take that with a SH mech and new cassette over the Tiagra. If your wheels won’t take 11 speed road cassettes then the is the hg-700 which is 11-34t and fits on the MTB 11 speed freehub.

You can whack an app on an old android smartphone to do this

Battery is unlikely to last long with WiFi enabled.

For the use case I’d go with a discretely wired in unit. We have a nest one in the hall to watch the dog while we are out and it’s all but invisible. With the cloud backup it does not matter anyway as it it was seen then it should be too late. It’s not security as such though just evidence.

Best place to start is the exploded diagrams that Shimano supply. Normally linked from the product page or they have a tech site with search. But yeah not an obvious name!

Make a channel in a bit of wood as a guide. Use a drill with a depth stop that just protrudes through the wood. Still multiple holes then slide drill up and down channel to join holes into slot.
