I have 2.2 race king out back and 2.35 nobby nic on the front of my Gryphon which works ok for most stuff.

I have gears on my Gryphon as there are hills here in Wales and ss just would not be practical.

I think it is certainly the FC’s perception on MTB’ing. Check out the Afan MTB Ranger’s facebook page as to the justification for doing away with Skyline and the current view that such things as the ‘skills’ area is where the future is. I would also think that to most MTB’ing is just that trail centres. Jo Burt had a nice piece in Privateer a while back – people no longer going into the countryside to be shaped by thier surrounding but rather now shaping the countryside to satisfy their imediate wants – hence trail centres. Skyline is a case in point, great day out with some great scenery amongst the singletrack albeit at a trail centre but most people can only moan about the forest road. Don’t these people ever look up to see whats around them!!

Skyline ridable today – no sections cordened off. Some largish new forest tracks gone in advance of large scale felling.

I have an American Classic AM 29 wheelset which have been faultless in the 18 months i’ve had them.

Problem with Afan and other places is that there isn’t any sort of user group to give feed back / liase as there used to be.

You can have a look on the Afan MTB rangers face book page as that is where most stuff is ‘communicated’. Very poor. I have suggested to both Cognation and the ranger that they post something on here but to no effect. There is apparently going to be a 10/15 mile new trail similar to whites/y wall put in prior to the building of the wind farm. According to the ranger Skyline was used by only 1000 people last year and this warrants its closure. Nobody is interested in longer routes such as Skyline. Only 1000 people used it presumably because the useless t***ers at the FC kept parts closed for ages with poor diversions so people just gave up.

Please leave Badby woods alone. Its private woodland and enviromentaly special – blubells. Having been born and brought up near Badby I was quite shocked on a visit after some years away to see how trashed it was looking (mtb trails).
