Just got back from a Jools Holland gig and saw a 3 min drum solo from Gilson Lavis. I have to say it’s the best solo performance I’ve seen live of any drummer, or musician in general, that I care to remember. Superb – and that’s saying a lot considering the other musicians on stage tonight!!!

I quite like Howies stuff. Great jeans that seem to last.
Morvelo for cycle tops and Endura shorts.

Recently discovered Gusset components. Demo Spitfire was decked out with it. Now I have my own Spitfire with Gusset saddle and bars. Couldn’t recommend them enough.

If we’re talking British brands that offer a top quality service with top quality customer service you can’t go wrong with TF Tuned and Loco Tuning. Used both, can’t fault either.

Quite a horrible comment to make, putting political preferences over human life – says it all really

Errrrr…….Maggie Thatcher (there, I’ve said it!).
To get back on topic I don’t think Scotland is alone in this. I personally feel disassociated with the whole political process. I hope the ‘London Bubble’ bursts soon but am afraid it will not until we devolve power regionally. The sooner cities like Birmingham and Manchester gain more political momentum and gain control over their own funding and how it’s spent the better.

Charge Cooker (steel), Manitou Tower fork, SS DS25 rims and WTB TB’s 2.8. First time tubeless. Was worried when the rim was leaking air on the seam on first inflation but seems to be holding well now I’ve added sealant and done the usual shaking like a madman! There’s loads of clearance on rear but wouldn’t want any wider rim on front as Tower is not so generous.

Nemesis, you running tubeless with those rims and pressures? Currently have same set up but with tubes (although haven’t ridden yet due to broken shoulder blade 😥 ).

Yep. You’ll have to check whether your dish has a quad adapter (to run up to 4 cables from it). You can even get an octo (8) adapter if you have need to run 8 cables!

Ynysarwed/Resolven just north of Neath, Wales. Went to visit Sister-in-law who lives there. Resolven Social Club had a sign on window – No Dogs and No English! Unfortunately for me I thought it was a joke!

I’ve recently changed out my steel Charge Cooker for 27.5+. Gone with Superstars DS25 rims and WTB Trail Blazers 2.8’s Wouldn’t have wanted much more internal width on rims as there’s just enough clearance on fork to run these tyres. Currently on Manitou Tower Pro’s. Absolutely loads of clearance on rear!

Unfortunately can’t tell you how it rides yet as I’m laid up with broken Scapula!

Burgtec RWR bars. Not the cheapest but look lovely and feel great at getting weight over front end (oh……..and British too!).

Once you’ve seen the physio and they’ve given you a rehabilitation plan buy a book called Back RX by Vijay Vad M.D.
Sounds very similar to my situation.
    Thank me later. 😆

If it’s on the back of your motor home can you not carry a track pump with you? I deflate mine slightly to allow straps to locate properly. Once at destination I just inflate to desired pressure. Job done.

If you haven’t been eating beetroot in last 24 hrs definitely book that appointment. I’m sure just precautionary, but better to be safe than sorry

South Coast – Buddle Inn, Niton or White Horse, Whitwell.
Near to Robin Hill your best bet is probably those mentioned by Rocco although I hear White Lion next to arreton barns is better now (recent take over).

Depends which part of the country you’re in and which Ambulance Service you’re applying for. Current targets are based around response times where I am. It’s all wrong IMO. Sometimes you get a first responder, other times you get a paramedic. On a fair number of occasions a manager has had to respond to casualties involved in road traffic collisions due to lack of personnel, even though they haven’t practised frontline for 15+ years. They met their response target though so that’s alright!!!!!!!!

Try as I might, I cannot get the locals round here to adopt the word “snicket”. Really miss that one!

I would recommend checking out the bb configuration on the Meta before making your choice. I had the V3 and it was a press fit which needed hacking to bits each time it needed replacing due to the shell being an irregular shape! As far as I know, this has not changed. This was the major reason I went with Banshee as my next purchase. Oh, that and the new rear brake housing on inside of chainstays. Heel rub was already an issue before they widened to accommodate rear brake on V4! Apart from that, good bike!

I used some PTFE tape instead of locktite on rear dropouts. Never had a problem with creaking. Just gotta make sure you tape it correct way so it doesn’t unthread when tightening bolt.

^^^^^ This! I ran Dual Ply Minions with DH tubes, didn’t want to take any chances on Megavalanche. Worked so well that I left them on for week in Morzine afterwards. Never punctured once and performed brilliantly. I’ve now gone from never using a Minion to having them on all 3 bikes!

Must say, picked my 2015 black Spittie up 3 weeks ago. Coming from a Commencal Meta SX. Spittie rides just as good DH but pedals a whole lot better. Did BPW last week including the 2 blacks from the top. Didn’t feel underbiked once. Love it!!

First ride out on my Spittie today. One thing I would say is even though it has a longer wheelbase than my old Meta SX, it has shorter chain stays so front wheel is surprisingly easy to lift. I love it btw but I would say that!

Thx guys. Will definitely Google before we go. Me and mate are on shift work so will be heading up during week when it’s quieter and others are at school/work. Jambalaya, will e-mail you, thx.

Mud? Nah, it was the shambolic organisation because of the mud that has ensured I never give them my money again. Morzine was a laugh tho!

In total agreement with everything Lummox says above. ^^^^^. However, if you are interested, I had to pass an eye test which included picking out numbers out of a dotted picture. The dotted colours of the number were obviously a different colour than that of the background dots. This was 13 years ago though and may change from brigade to brigade.

Firestarter, sounds like you’re in the same line of work as me. I’m talking about those that have all the training but no real experience and not just those at the bottom of the chain of command. I guess that counts for most industries. Gunz, again, great work.

Trust me, you did a good thing keeping your head. There’s a lot of professionals trained in these situations who would find it hard not to panic. FWIW, Country roads see far more fatalities than Motorways and there are idiots on both!

2 skin flexible liner won’t need insulating. Woodburners tend to be far more efficient at heating a room whereas an open fire will lose majority of heat up the chimney.

I’ve had a Bosch one for 14years now. Only ever replaced brushes twice. Don’t think you can go wrong with German.

Me too. Looking at this to get fitness back up after injury prone 18 months. If I can get anywhere near 6000 by this time next year it’ll be a bonus. Good motivational challenge. Gonna try an unsupported coast to coast (bikepacking). Wales first then maybe North and Scotland depending on success of first one.

It’s the way they’ve housed the rear brake inside the chainstay. The reason I went to Commencal when buying new bike and not replacing with another Zesty. Ironically, Commencal have just done it on new Meta.

Make sure you helitape or protect chainstays. If you’ve got over size 8 feet you’ll rub off paint within a month or two on non-drive side.
