How do you know it was a wire you hit?
Could it of been a bit of old metal conduit?
There were loads of it in our house when we moved a few walls around.

There used to be a wooden railway near to Blakedean, is that the one your thinking of?
I always seem to bump into the same few guys walking thier dogs behind Midgley, guess when you buy a dog up there you get a small amount of moor with it  , miserable buggers.

There are one or two bridleways over Midgley Moor
    Limers Gate
Which is good if you ride from Keighley Road to Castle Carr.
There are also loads of tracks, most of which arent on maps, that are great to ride, but are footpaths!
I occasionally get a bit of grief off walkers but tend to take no notice of what they have to witter about
Best thing to do, as you suggest, is go and ride ;-)

Bought a 2nd hand Cove Handjob frame, built it up and hated it, which was a surprise as i have a Stiffee and a Hustler already.
Annoying thing is i sold a really nice 853 Inbred to fund the Handjob purchase….. so if any one has an 18″ for sale let me know  please!

Hi, i just took mine out 15mins ago, just knocked them out from the opposite side.
Its an ’05 frame with 2 bearings if it makes a difference,
used a home made press, out of threaded bar and washers, to put them back in again though!

Dont loose the washers between the swing arm and bearings!

Good of them to sort you out, hope you manage to get in touch with them.

Last year a group of us found a young women, who had been left behind by her mates, with a flat tyre and no tools etc nr the top of Spooky Wood.
So a couple of our group gave her a tube and helped fit it.
We saw her in The Hub later and the miserable cow didnt even offer to buy a coffee or say thanks.
Im sure most folk i ride with would still help anybody on the trailside in need of it though.

Found my stolen On One on ebay several years back, in bits, Police were next to useless but did get some parts back using other methods!
A couple of guys i ride with are from down your way and will be riding with them tonight so ill ask em to keep an eye out for them.

What about On One/ DMR hubs
They are very well priced, use cartridge bearings and have served me well.
    I find
Shimano Freehub bodys die within 3-6 months and
Hope rears are fairly poor, bearings always seemed to go and cracked two XCs, i havent tried a Pro 11 on the rear.
I ride all year in Calderdale muck and grime

Zedsdead-Doubt ive been done, he is a good mate, i bought the parts myself online.
I had both the clutch and concentric part replaced, there seemed little point in just replacing the clutch plate and then having to take it apart again when the rest went.

The price is probably about right!
I have just had mine done on a ’99 Vectra
    Kit cost £150
Local garage fitted it for £180 as hes a mate

Lots of cars have a fancy bearing on them now, think its called a concentric clutch, but could be wrong on that!
If you decide to have it replace dont just replace the plate, do it all at the same time!

I have probably just doubled the price of the car having it done
but everything else works fine and is much cheaper than buying another motor.

No worries, some of the tracks over Midgley are better than others, but hard to explain which as some are not really shown on the map, just go ride em, you will only get it wrong once

I have an ’05 model i bought 2nd hand last Sept.
I am runnimg it with a set off Z1 Freerides taken of my Stiffee and a Fox float with lockout it climbs well and goes down even better as it covers for most mistakes i make 8)
Two small things i can fault it for are the, rear mech bangs against the chainstay in most of the lower gears on fast rough descents and the rear gear cable has a tendency to jump out of the cable stops after a biggish hit, cured this by drilling the stops out and using full outers.
    But overall i like it.
If youre thinking 2nd hand i would go for the newer model as they use a 190mm eye to eye shock which are easy to obtain should you need to replace, mine takes an obscure size, 185mm

The part mastiles mentions is called the Thermocouple, it could be that and is quite easy to replace, you could do it yourself before you ring that expensive heating engineer ;-)

Or has the water pressure dropped?

Each house owner is resposible for the boundry to the right of each house were i live, rebuild a wall last summer on the side im responsible for, which cost a fortune in materials alone.
On the other side were 12 humongous Leylandii which needed chopping down and replacing, the neighbour on that side is an old women with not much cash so ive bitten the bullet and started removing them myself, its already cost a fair bit in tools/ hire of chainsaw etc and i dont have much spare cash either but hey it needs doing!
She came out tonight whilst i was digging the roots out and gave me 20 quid to get a drink for my goodwill/ hardwork, so yes, what goes around comes around, i think.
i did break off early once i had beer tokens though 8)

Your first mistake was to believe a bank!
Even though the cash has gone from your account doesnt mean its in theirs immediatly, it can still take up to three days, despite what the bank told you!
He did sound a bit arsey though and very rude/ immature to put the phone down on a customer.

Shimanos that havent been abused should be fine and not expensive!
Hopes are fine if you like to constantly mess with them, yes every little part can be replaced but they are like a stunning women, high maintenance! 8)
I sold my Hopes 18 months ago and have run Deores, LX and XT across my bikes with no probs.

Have a look at a Cove Hustler, theres a small on ebay, not mine,
I wanted a bike that fitted similar requirements to the ones you list and bought a 2nd hand frame and its great!
They are quite burly but not over heavy, im fairly hard on my bikes and this seems to cope.
Climbs well and goes down even better!
Shes welcome to take mine for a spin if you get nr Hebden Bridge,
